Hyperdevotion Noire: Goddess Black Heart Out Today for PS Vita

Bonjour, mesdames et messieurs! David here for Idea Factory International. Why the French talk, you ask? Well, I’m just très excited because my favorite French-sounding Goddess, Noire, makes her debut as the main character in Hyperdevotion Noire: Goddess Black Heart today, exclusively on PS Vita! Let’s dive a little into the first strategy RPG in the Hyperdimension Neptunia world, shall we?

Hyperdevotion Noire: Goddess Black Heart

In this game, you’ll see the world through the eyes of a guy roped into being the Secretary for Noire — the leader and CPU of the Lastation nation. As her Secretary, your main task is to strategize battles and help her accomplish various quests — but like any assistant/secretary, you’re probably gonna also have to end up doing some interior decorating.

While working as the Secretary, you’ll meet a plethora of other characters. What’s a strategy RPG without a miniature army to select from? Each of the 26 unique characters has her own strengths and weaknesses, as well as character design that plays like an “I Spy” game of video game references. Strategize the perfect troop of characters to get through every battle grid, balancing out each of their skills and stats. Or just pick the ones whose over-the-top skills you like the most and hope for the best!

Did I mention that these girls need to get along? Performing a skill with one or more allies nearby boosts up those characters’ Lily Rank. As their Rank increases throughout the game, their skills also become more effective with each quick kiss of encouragement. Bumping up Lily Ranks and Lily Points also allow you to unlock extra-powerful skills and the Goddess forms for the main characters! It’s just like that one song says, there’s love on this battlefield. Oh wait, those aren’t the lyrics?

Anyway, you’ll really need all the help you can get to fight through maps laden with traps like moving platforms, live wires, and fiery pits of doom! Plus, there is a buttload of status effects you can experience, like becoming pixelated, which gives a boost to your movement range while significantly decreasing your defense, or becoming a zombie and mindlessly attacking your allies.

Sometimes after a long day of strategizing on the battlefield and avoiding zombie bites from friends, you just want to kick back on the couch at home. And you can do exactly that with the Sim Noire mini-game, in which you can furnish and upgrade Noire’s place, transforming it from “Is this where a Goddess really lives?” to “Ah my Goddess, I dig these digs!” Not only do you get to make the place look good, but this furniture can really dispense some pearls of wisdom. Plus, by upgrading the place, you’ll get to unlock extra events that help you get to know Noire better!

Hyperdevotion Noire: Goddess Black Heart

So are you ready to take on the role of the Secretary? It’s up to you to get your army of 26 characters through every isometric grid of battle, dropping enemies with Lily Boost-enhanced skills and avoiding the traps on the maps! And if you want to take a break from all the strategic battle action, you can upgrade Noire’s place, hearing the thoughts of every piece of furniture and unlocking extra scenes with Noire — because any Secretary worth their salt should get to know their boss as much as they can. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got some strategizing to do. Salut!

  • What’s the point of buying when PC version is coming, it will be cheaper, portable and better.

    • Hey Sharingan_itachi! Right now, we actually don’t have plans to port this to PC. We did have it rated by ESRB for PC, but that was done as a precaution just in case we ever did decide to do a port. We’ve really got our hands full as it is. @_@

  • I really want this game but i cant buy the game this month T.T

  • In what way will the PC version be more portable than the Vita version? I know that when I’m at work or on the go I just stick my laptop into my pocket?

  • Picking this up today :) physical copy, probably from Best Buy.

  • @1

And this kind of thinking will just kill the Vita more and more.

We get a good exclusive that any JRPG fan who owns a Vita should buy. You shouldn’t be worrying about some possible release in the future on PC.

  • “Kore ga… Lastation no Megami no Honki yo!”

2015 is set to be a busy year for Nepgames on Vita in the West, with this being the second of four known titles heading across the Pacific (and Atlantic).

But with only one more game in the Neptunia franchise (Victory II on PS4) still to be announced, I wonder where the series might go next – and if there will be more Vita Nepgames in the future.

(We still have to hear more on whether or not Blanc will be getting her own game, and on what platform/s it might end up on.)

On a non-Nep-related note, it might also be interesting to see what, if any, plans IFI might eventually have for the two “Makai Ichiban Kan” games heading to Vita in Japan this year: Makai Shin Trillion and MeiQ no Chika ni Shisu.

  • I had this reserved for a while now. Just need to go pick it up when I get home

  • These games are still coming out? No thanks.

  • I pre-order weeks ago and i should have Hyperdevotion Noire: Goddess Black Heart Limited Edition by tomorrow for sure; $57.99 and its my 2rd time buying collection item ever again. Noire is so awesome and my love for the character made me buy it. Was it worth it? Yes. >.< Gaming and being Otaku's is my life. :) iffy's Online Store rocks, hope you guys keep selling awesome things on it more then just games but item's too. Hope the next series of the game are awesome and fun; hope the PS4 version push on graphic's.

And there will be two more Nep games releasing in the coming months on Vita as well.

This is one of the most prolific franchises in recent memory.

  • Got my Limited Edition this past Friday, but haven’t had a chance to play it yet since I am still playing through Re:Birth 2, but its definitely next on my list.

Also I just want to say how excited I am for Omega Quintet, Action Unleashed, and Re:Birth 3 coming here this year, and am eagerly waiting for more LE announcment

  • Another Neptunia game for my collection! <33 Thank you very much Iffy <3

  • Kinda got screwed over by USPS so I won’t be getting my LE till later today (hope those of you who got it earlier are enjoying). Noire is my wifey (in Red’s terms…) but I love the new cast of characters – looks like Noire will actually have some friends for once! Though I wonder why Uni and Kei, of all people, aren’t in the game….

Anyway, do you guys have plans to sell PSN avatars of the new characters? I’d love to have Resta and/or the girl who loves to sing (her name escapes me atm) as my avatar…

  • Keep up the good work IFI!

But PLEASE stop being so NISA sometimes. PLEASE.

By the way, leaving the Uni section at the epilogue was hilarious on the PC version of R;B1.

  • @1

Who cares about a broken PC port. I’ll be playing this on my ps vita (the better system to play jrpgs).
I’m only supporting this series on playstation systems (anywhere else I won’t be supporting it at all).

  • I literally pre-ordered the LE the second it was available, was pleasantly surprised when I got it on friday
Been playing through and it’s super fun, just know if you guys keep pumping out the great LE’s i’ll keep picking them up! :)

  • I wonder why you choose “peck” and not “chu” I think chu is much cuter, but never mind. Thank you for the retail version thats very important for many players and keep up with da good work!!

  • Waiting for my retail copy. I was thinking I’ll get Neptunia U for psvita in the future, but then I saw it was rated by ESRB for PC.

  • Thank you for bringing it over and thank you for dubbing your game as well. Since seems others fail to do this. I have my LE in my room as we speak.

  • Looks easier than Re:Birth 2. Just waiting for mine to come tomorrow.

Thank you for bringing this one over. Probably be my first SRPG plat as Disgaea takes too much time.

  • Quick question, I saw a gallery DLC item in the PS Store. Does this unlock all the CGs, Movies, etc., or can I still unlock them by playing the game?

@19 In NO WAY does a ESRB rating = a game being announced for a platform. Right now the only games announced for release are Re;birth1, 2, and Fairy Fencer F.

  • Nice! I just picked up Rebirth 1 from a recent sale and am currently working through that. Dat ‘plot’ tho!

  • I feel like I got into Hyperdimension Neptunia at the right time! HDN Victory was on sale for PSNPlus users a while back. I picked it up on a whim and loved it! Noire is my (second) favorite goddess and SRPGs are my favorite genre, so I can’t wait to crack this game open after work! Thanks for bringing it over!

Now how long before we get word of Hyperdelightful Vert Dungeon Crawling??? :p

  • @24
Well dont know about a vert game, but blanc won most popular character in the last poll so we could get a game for her(shes my favorite) since I believe when noire won the poll she got her own game.

  • @15
Yeah it’s disappointing that they’re starting to localize the series like NISA was. RB1 was great, RB2 looks at least somewhat decent (waiting for the DLC to get fixed before I take the plunge), but this one is all over the place, and not in the good way.

At least the game itself is turning out better than I expected, minus the unnecessary Secretary anyway.

    @21
It’s actually got me thinking a lot more than the usual Neptunia games do – you might be surprised. It has difficulty options though so you could just pick easy if you wanted.

  • @26
I dont get the negative reaction towards the male MC that talks to noire.

  • I always buy Hyperdimension games because Ideafactory is one of the few publishers who actually give us physical copies of Vita games. Just picked up Rebirth 2, going to buy this as well.

  • I refuse to purchase this game or dlc until the last game (rebirth 2’s) dlc #2 is fixed, after 2-3 weeks the purchased dlc is not fixed.
they were notified about this from day one and have done nothing but take our money.
so until then I will keep my $75 ($40 game, $35+ dlc)
fix the previous game before putting out another one….

  • @27

I agree, The Secretary is supposed to be the player character anyway and it allows you to get closer to Noire, if you choose to see yourself as the character.

  • Got my LE copy early :D
Loving the gameplay, though I hope future Neptunia games don’t have the player included in the story…
This and PP are enough for the “want to marry the goddesses” crowd.

  • cute animes :”>

  • #HyperdevotionNoireGoddessBlackHeartOutTodayforPSVita

  • I plan on Buying Neptunia U and Re;Birth 3 (I own and platinum’d 1 and currently playing in my Vita rebirth 2), but sadly I’m not a strategy/ tactics game player. I might get it in march if I got extra money to support hyperdimension as a series. Hopefully they take it into a full adventure game in the near future, the series can be something bigger seeing it established it’s own battle system has great characters and it’s a fun plot, with alot of laughs. Neptune is honestly one of the best main characters in gaming to me because she has some a awesome attitude lol. She’s the opposite of the bad ass protag but still awesome and funny lol.

  • Man, the Vita is getting a lot of RPG love.

  • On a Nep-related note, the Japanese opening video for Victory II on PS4 has been posted:
