While developing the PlayStation 4 system, our hardware and software teams relied on feedback from our community of developers. The result is the most innovative and forward-thinking gaming console in the market today. Since launch, PlayStation has continued that trend of listening to feedback by bringing some of the most highly requested features from the PlayStation Nation to PS4 with each of our system software updates. When we unveiled PS4 two years ago, we announced Suspend/Resume, a feature that would enable PS4 users to jump in and out of their games faster than ever. This has been a feature gamers have been excited about since then, and today I am honored to officially confirm that system software update 2.50, “Yukimura,” will soon deliver Suspend/Resume, as well as a number of other requested features to PS4.
Suspend/Resume, which will be supported by nearly all PS4 titles, will create an atmosphere where your games are immediately available at any time — just pick up your DualShock 4 wireless controller, hit the PS button and get right back into the action of your games. When it’s time to log off, simply put your PS4 in Rest Mode and when you power up the next time, you’ll start your game where you left off. Spend less time getting into your games and more time playing them.
Here are some of the other highly requested new features and changes coming soon in “Yukimura:”
- Sub-account to Master account Upgrade: Users with a sub-account will now be able to upgrade to a master account directly from their PS4 when they turn 18, removing restrictions for chat, enabling users to fund their own wallet, make purchases and more. Currently, users can upgrade their sub-accounts online at https://account.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/.
- Facebook Friend Search: Gamers globally have jumped into PS4 as a redefined social gaming experience and connecting with friends over the network is a huge part of what makes the PS4 community so special. PlayStation now lets you go even bigger by connecting with your Facebook friends on PS4 using your linked account. Search for Facebook friends who are PlayStation Network members and build on the foundation of Friends you already have in your list.
- Remote Play & Share Play at 60 fps: For games that support 60 fps, the ability to customize the frame rate of Remote Play and Share Play will be added with “Yukimura.” Play to your bandwidth strengths and use this option to stream gameplay at 60 or 30 fps when using Remote Play or Share Play on supported devices.
- Accessibility Options: “Yukimura” introduces a wide variety of options to make their PS4 entertainment experience even more accessible. Options include text to speech, enlarged text, bolder fonts, higher contrast UI, zoom for displayed pictures, invert colors on screen and more. Users will also be able to reassign buttons for DualShock 4, making it easier for users with limited manual dexterity or limited reach and strength to play.
- Trophy Improvements: We have received a ton of feedback to improve Trophies. In “Yukimura,” a screenshot will automatically be captured at the moment a Trophy is earned, making it easier than ever for you to share your greatest gaming moments with your friends. We’re also adding more sorting options along with the new ability to remove games from the Trophy list that have 0% completion.
- Share Video Clips to Dailymotion: When sharing standout PS4 moments via the Share button on DualShock 4, “Yukimura” will allow players to upload directly to Dailymotion.

Why won’t they let US manage OUR trophies? On my basic account I have tons of games I don’t want on my trophy list anymore, even platinums which I am ashamed of and I don’t want them anymore! Sony let us delete the trophy lists we want! as far as I know that’s quiet important for thousands of PSN members.
Is this update going to allow the ability to have voice chat go through both headset and tv so it would allow the option for people who make videos to record the voices of their friends on an el Gato or any other recording device?

Please reconsider allowing us to delete games with more than 0% completion from our trophy lists. It really bothers me to have games I don’t like on my list, even if I got a bunch of trophies from them. It might not make sense to some people, but it really does upset me. It adds a bunch of stress to buying new games and puts me off trying a lot of games entirely.
Please implement a fix in a future update if you can. I don’t understand what you mean by maintaining the sanctity of PS Trophies?
May you please add a button that makes it so you may allow all friends to record your voice when they record games? NOT BROADCAST but Record. Something that makes them able to have your voice in the game?

I’m so, so happy to read about the new options for controller remapping; as someone with a physical disability, I’ve struggled for years with what I perceive as awkward control schemes in games. Is the goal for there to be profiles that one can switch between depending on the game being played, or is there just going to be one alternate configuration that players can go to if they don’t like the default setup in a game?
Is it too much to ask for more ui options?
Like if I wanted to make my ps4 ui look like ps3 or anything for that matter

It has been previously stated that you want a new dlna not a cut and paste one from the previous console. That would be much appreciated! We as Sony loyalists only ask that it be completed in a timely manner. It is a much needed update for the console. Also, it would also be nice to be able to put custom backgrounds on your ps4. Would like to see that soon as well, but definitely not sooner then dlna.

Heck yes. It’s been my OCD desire for far too long to remove those zero percenters brought about by unlovable games. No longer will I have to test if certain PS plus games are crap in my secondary accounts. Callooh callay!
How about the ability to turn off the notification when someone joins a party? I’d like to have only party invitations to be notified, not when every single person on my friends list joins one, and it happens A LOT.

“Cut/Paste from last gen” would be great for now and we can just “stay tuned” for the next gen video browser for whenever you want. I’m pretty sure my movies will look the same and at least my PS4 will be almost as useful as my PS3 (still need a sony-made media remote – or give me a break, add support for your existing damn media remote – crap).
You know – you writing “cut/paste” just infuriates me more – holy crap man – just put any damn DLNA in now. I don’t care how I get to my movies, you can give me a console and I’ll type in some command lines for all I care (for now). Sony came up with this standard decades ago and everything uses except Sony’s flagship, pfffffft.
I just keep getting more and more frustrated by this box I good money on and how it doesn’t do everything my PS3 did. I already put my PS3 in my son’s room and I’m not going to just take it away. It’s on it’s last leg anyway with your cheap solder job – if it gets cold he has to stand there for an hour trying to turn it on.

Well it’s been some 77 weeks and I think we’ve “stayed tuned.” We’ve waited, spoken up, argued and pleaded and are still being runaround. I assumed that we would get it SHORTLY after the purchase but 496 days later and we’re still asking the ridiculous question.
Here’s Yoshida from November 2013 when asked about DLNA Support;
“The biggest surprise for us all internally was… There are so many people who passionately reacted to our announcement that there’s no MP3 support and DLNA support on day 1.”

A networked audio/video device is automatically expected to have DLNA support. It’s not something that [I thought] needed to be asked. But in any case here we are…

Allow for more than 4 active controllers? We used to have up to 7 with the PS3. X Box 1 allows for up to 8.

I really think usb music should be an app gamers can install on ps4 and use it without the need for a usb , and this needs to support uncompressed music formats .
Gamers need to be able to remove tiles from the dashboard we don’t use and put them into the library , plus gamers need to be able to arrange the tiles on the dashboard in the order we want them in , this will make browsing faster .
Thanks for the update but my PSTV has been working fine for a week and right after the update the PSTV is unable to find the PS4 for remote play via the internet.

First of all, thank you Sony for this new update to the PS4, I love how we have gone from not being able to do anything with our trophies in PS3 to being able to hide them and now to delete 0%. However, Sony need to implement a password inquiry protection screen before you can delete the trophy list and also give us the customers full control over any percentage trophy lists as we all see in comments some trophies unlock just going through a tutorial and also in my case my little brothers have gone in account and got games to 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80 or 90% and even Platinum that I will not ever play and would like them off my list and as you see is even platinums so you see that I am not trying to do his to show 100% but more so I can accurately see the games that should be there or games that I did play and earned a trophy during tutorial and now I cannot delete because they are at 1%. These are our accounts we created, these are the games we bought and played, and this is the system we have chosen over the others Sony, we even have paid for the online privileges even though they used to be free so the few people with or without a PS Plus Subscription and still active in their profiles are loyal customers like me since I have been with you all since the PlayStation one since 1995 and they are our games trophy lists under our Accounts that we created Sony. We have come so far let us move one step closer to being higher above than Microsoft and their Xbox line of products and introduce the two features I mentioned:
1- Complete deletion access to any percentage trophy lists.
2- Protect this access with a PSN Password Entry Inquiry Screen Dialogue that pops up after pressing delete for any percentage trophy list rather than a simple Yes or No Dialogue Inquiry Screen.

All I want is the ability to arrange the tiles on the home screen. Or at least a folders option so I can organize my stuff. Nothing drains my soul more than turning on my system and that TV/Video file sitting in front. I don’t understand how such a basic feature has yet to be added.

I’m enjoying this update so far. As for recommendations changing your accounts name would be awesome in the future but one thing I would like the most right now is the ability to change the location your notification bar that pops up as some games utilize that top left hand corner quite often and being able to adjust it to a less interrupting place would be awesome
umm anyone else not being notified when they do earn an trophy? im kind of mad right now. im a trophy hunter and if im going for a specific trophy the only way i know if get it is exiting out of the game pulling up the trophy list and checking it. it is not fun to constantly be stopping the game just to see what ive earned. im very mad right now! why fix someone that isnt broken!!

I’m so confused. I’ve had the update installed since it released, but I can’t figure out how to sort trophies at all
Great additions Sony team. I just got a PS4 and the listed changes are working great even though I didn’t see my console interface until after this was installed.
One thing I’ve got to ask though – what will be done about all is bloat ware? The interface is filled with all the video and music services that I’ll never use and I have to weed through all of that to actually get the games I play. I’m not using or nor do I plan to utilize any of these services. I have an apple tv and a pandora subscription. When I watch Hulu I use my apple TV as well.
Why do we have to see all of these apps even without downloading? I don’t need Qore and all that.
Just let us hide all that stuff so I can get a nice smooth interface. I feel like I bought a movie box set and have to sit through trailers anytime I turn it on.
You guys keep up the work, but please pass these concerns up to the heads of marketing and media etc who make these decisions! Maybe they’ll actually let some of us configure the menu to just show us what we want, like Apple TV, our tablets and phones. Thanks!
If you’re prioritizing any new feature over DLNA support then you are not listening to your customers. As for the cut and paste comment about the PS3 implementation, I don’t understand where you are coming from at all. It’s a standard. We’re not looking for innovation and a break to the standard, just for it to be supported as per the PS3 and as per any DLNA device. Cut and Paste away! Even if it was for the first version then re-write it to your hearts content after, if you REALLY think that’s a good use of Sony resources. It’s so obvious from a Product Management perspective that aside from stability fixes the absolute main priority and what should be getting worked on is DLNA. Have you looked at feedback across the Internet on this? You’ve been getting slated for YEARS for this and quite rightly. You’re getting outdone by Microsoft when it comes to media playback and DLNA is the main thing people want.
I have a problem with my trophies and I think the fact that my HDD is full is the culprit.
I can’t see anymore the notification of my earned trophies when I accomplish them. They are notified to me each time I resume my PS4 (like 10 trophies in a row, each time I resume my PS4).
Are you sure the “HDD is full” case is being handled correctly when a trophy is earned?
