The Drop: New PlayStation Games for 5/5/2015
The Drop

With new weapons, new enemies to fight, and a new mission, B.J. Blazkowicz returns to PlayStation this week in Wolfenstein: The Old Blood — a standalone expansion coming to PS4.

The Old Blood, set largely before the events of Wolfenstein: The New Order, once again follows the hardened soldier Blazkowicz in the year 1946 as he continues to fight against the Nazi war machine. The Old Blood spans eight chapters of interconnected narrative, featuring new, devastating weapons (and new enemies to use them on). If you couldn’t get enough of MachineGames’ visually arresting shooter, now’s your chance to dig back in.

Speaking of “digging back in,” Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor Game of the Year Edition is out this week on PS4. Stalk the lands of blood and shadow as the ranger Talion, wielding weapons both human and ethereal in a massive, open-world adventure. And in the world of entertainment, PlayStation Store has music from Mumford & Sons, and new movies including Jupiter Ascending and Blackhat.

For a full list of games coming to PlayStation this week, read on. And enjoy The Drop!

Hey Ryan, quick question, does Wolfenstein The Old Blood Include a platinum trophy?

  • Preloading The Old Blood now, stoked. Seriously though we needs better USB Hard Drive Support. These Baby Hard Drives aren’t cutting it. Im having to delete games and I hate it.

  • Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!

I finally get to play AirMech been looking to play this game for the last couple of years. The spiritual successor to the pioneering RTS game “Herzog Zwei” Genesis circa 1989, I think my this game will sideline my trophy hunting for the for seeable future. I challenge Sid, Ryan, and Justin to a battle you 3 against me… HA! HA! HA! HA!

  • When Project Cars will be available for pre order? It’s already available for pc and xbox.

  • So close to Witcher 3

  • I’m letting the black emporiam release on Tuesday help me decide if I’m keeping Dragon age for the DLC or just waiting for the GOTY and trading my current copy in on my Witcher 3 preorder.

  • Wish Arcade Archive games were on Vita too.

  • OMG..City Connection, great surprise. I was hoping for Wonderboy that it was already released in Japan, but with City Connection you surpassed my expectations!

  • Air Mech Arena sounds interesting.

Also I heard about Syberia. How are those games? Anyone?

  • No vita love…

  • @ UNLOADED: Considering the number of achievements and the fact they add up to 1000 GS, I’m gonna say yes, the Playstation version will have a platinum.

As for The Drop, I’m actually looking forward to Ether One. Should be a nice little distraction before TW3:WH comes out in two weeks.

  • Starting 5/3/15 (until Sony releases 1 or more PS2 classics that I want on the Playstation Store), Since the Playstation Store got 4 PS2 Star Wars games last week (3 of them are the ones that I’ve been requesting for the past few months). The number of PS2 games in the Hashtag Request Parade of PS1/PS2 games has been reduced from 20 to 14. So I will be putting only 14 PS2 games on this comment and it will not go above 14 from now on.

@ viceforce: If you read the full description, it says “Available one week early for PS+ subscribers”, not “free for PS+”. It’s like what they did with Journey. If you have PS+, you can get it this week. If you don’t have PS+, you can’t buy it until next week.

  • I remember playing Syberia 1 and 2 years ago on Xbox, before I became a diehard Playstation loyalist, I will have to give them another go now on PS3. Looking forward to revisiting them, they were surprisingly very fun for a point and click, I guess I am just easily amused. LOL.

  • I’m still waiting to continue Sir Daniel Fortesque’s adventure with a MediEvil II PS1 classic… Got the original after learning about him from PSASBR, and the world/ideas were pretty cool. I’d definitely be interested in seeing more of him, but since a new game seems unlikely, I’ll settle for the other half of his original story.

  • Man no love for the Vita this week. Kind of sad wish we would at least get a new Vita game every week

  • Already own most of those. The only one I might get is Wolfenstein.

  • Nice drop but I was curious about 2 things. Was wondering if AirMech Arena was F2P because plus early access makes a lil more sense with that than if it was a purchasable game. Also is there some kind of upgrade for shadows of mordor if we already have the original. Not a big deal but would be nice. Keep up the good work everyone and Beyond!!!!!

  • request Jets set radio and future for PSNow please

  • Can someone please tell me what new games will be coming to ps now in May?? I don’t care much about the bad indies they give for ps plus since I canceled my sub months ago. I’m just interested in ps now but no news on what new games it will be getting for the month of May. Can someone share some info with me?

To anyone wondering if The Old Blood is worth 19.99, YES it is. The Old Blood is 8 long chapters and still longer than a cod sp campaign, it is 38gb and has a PLATINUM trophy. Those are heavy numbers for a 20$ dlc and darn well worth it for an amazing looking sstandalone.

  • HugoStiglitz_420

Really annoying that there may not be a preorder for project Cars. All I have to say is the digital edition had better have the same car packs as europe, because otherwise, the limited edition car pack will be unavailable to Americans unless we import a retail version from europe which is completely ridiculous

It’s already annoying enough that they’re locking 5 of the best cars behind a limited edition that is only sold in europe. I didn’t want the digital version but if it’s my only way of getting those cars I really have no choice. Really pissed off at Namco Bandai and Slightly Mad Studios about this whole thing.

Machine Games is a group of kick azz guys who make kick azz games, maybe gearbox should let them make a rebooted Duke Nukem? Set in 1946 The Old Blood has u kick the doors in on castle Wolfenstein in the heart of the war, I believe this will also mark the return of the occult aspects of the Wolfenstein series.

  • While I’m glad to see classic arcade games hitting PSN once again I think it’s a bit mistake to try and charge $8 for some of them.
Arcade Archives MAT MANIA EXCITING HOUR for example. It’s pretty basic and lacks much of the charisma of other classics from the 80’s.

It’s hard to justify spending $8 on City Connection when you can buy Sega’s Arcade Classics such as Super Hang-On for only $4.99 (or $2.50 on sale). Those were brought to the PS3 by M2 and they include the usual awesome extras such as MUSIC JUKEBOX, INSTRUCTION MANUALS, ONLINE CO-OP, Voice Chat, Extra modes, Save states, CPU tweaks, and with Super Hang-On, Stereoscopic 3D support. All for $5.

Please consider either bundling these arcade classics together for less or a flat rate of $5 ea.
I think they will sell much more at this price point.

The New Order was one of the most underrated games this new gen, I feel like BC the critics dogged the game at every show prior to release and told ppl it would be a jk they couldn’t admit it was great when it released for fear of sounding ridiculous, so when it came out they instead claimed it was “decent”. To prove my point metacritic rated The New Order the same rating as cod ghosts ” 78″, what a jk. Oh, and the idtech5 is fantastic IMO Wolfenstein looked/ran GREAT on ps4 and Rage was STUNNING looking.

  • HugoStiglitz_420

@44 Wolfenstein looked horrible on all platforms. Worst AAA graphics on PS4 by far. Still was my GOTY

And the fact that it’s the same metacritic as CoD Ghosts is absolutely ridiculous. Ghosts is one of the worst FPS’s of all time, while Wolfenstein TNO is one of the best. Shows you how worthless game reviews are nowadays.

  • @iamtylerdurden1 WTNO is one of the greatest games of all-time, but I’m sorry, the graphics stunk for a PS4 game. The developers clearly didn’t upgrade the textures. Maybe they actually put stronger effort into the graphics part for WTOB, but my issue with WTOB is that it’s a 39GB game that won’t have a disc.

I don’t want to tie up 39 gigs on my PS4 hard drive for a digital download of a game I want to keep but can’t remove without having to re-download 39 gigs. It’s absolute crap that Europe gets a disc for the Old Blood and we’re stuck with only a download, smh.

And that brings me to this final point: Why on EARTH won’t Sony develop a system update that will allow us to erase games and still keep the patches on the hard drive if we choose? Do they not realize how much hassle being able to do that would save people, especially people on slower internet connections? I have no problems deleting games on my drive to free up space and re-installing them later, but the patches needing to be downloaded again are just a killer for some of us. I keep trying to submit that as an idea on the share blog, but nothing I ever post gets approved much less even shows up in my idea log.

  • iamtylerdurden1

@hugo – Ghosts was a jk I agree and TNO was not decent but great. I thought watchdogs looked pretty bad tbh, ghosts was very mediocre visually, wasn’t impressed with the grfx of the injustice ps4 port either. I thought the frame rate and blood fx were fantastic in The New Order and I personally enjoyed the games look.

  • Airmech on PS4 is looking just as sweet as it is on STEAM. And I am truly pleased that it’s still free to play. http://prod.airmecharena.com/

  • iamtylerdurden1

I thought the grfx for WTNO were more than acceptable considering the incredible frame rate and the fact it was a 2014 cross-gen game. The Crew and Watchdogs had terrible grfx, worse than Wolfenstein when considering frame rate and particle fx. Watchdogs during the daytime was atrocious looking. At times Sniper Elite looked good and at times character models did not.
