Do you love roguelikes? Rhythm-based combat? Challenging but fair gameplay? If you said “yes” to any of those questions then this is the announcement for you!

Crypt of the NecroDancer, the award-winning and critically-acclaimed roguelike rhythm game, will be launching exclusively on PS4 and PS Vita! Now you can move to the music and deliver beatdowns on the big screen with your PS4, or on the go with your PS Vita.

Crypt of the NecroDancer’s unique gameplay and captivating soundtrack have been a hit on PC, and we are extremely excited to make our console debut exclusively on the home of innovative rhythm and music games, PlayStation.

Help our hero Cadence battle her way through the NecroDancer’s dungeon in search of her missing father. On her way she faces methodical monsters all moving to the same beat she’s been cursed to follow. Randomly generated levels offer exciting new gameplay experiences every time! You can also play as other members of Cadence’s family, each with a distinctive play style.

Crypt of the NecroDancer’s award winning soundtrack is composed by Danny Baranowsky, but the PS4 and PS Vita versions will also feature an exclusive, playable chiptune remix of the game’s soundtrack, created by Jake “Virt” Kaufman, the composer for Shovel Knight!

    OMG this is a PERFECT Vita game. This is definitely going to be one of my go to Vita games. Already sunk nine hours into it, but gonna wait for the Vita version to play more. Thanks!

    This is a great match for consoles. I only wish it had come out sooner so I didn’t have to pay for it twice. I like it on PC, but it’d be fantastic for the Vita. Probably going to need some good earphones to play it well though…

      I totally didn’t realize you were being serious with your question lol. If this game has dance pad support that’d be pretty awesome (although I’m not sure how it’ll work on Vita).

    Real question is, when are we getting a retail release?
    I think I’m done….Sorry, I think WE ARE DONE feeding sony and their greedy attitude. Simply put, they don’t bother dropping the price of the vita tv, but when it comes to the PS Vita’s memory card, it’s an absurd! NOT giving them my money and enough is enough. I don’t care how good your game is as long as it’s available as a cartridge, then we’re talking.

      Where is this entitlement coming from? Here we have an independent developer receiving the opportunity to bring their game to another audience and you’re not happy with that. You’re demanding it on a silver platter. What is wrong with you? What makes you think every dev out there has the bankroll to pull off a retail release?

      This is ridiculous. Be happy that the game is going to be available on another system. And it’s just fifteen dollars. Cripes.

      Umm….I don’t know if the Vita tv got a permanent price drop, but it’s on sale at Gamestop for $39.99 and amazon for $45.99.

    So glad to see this. I’ve been wanting to give it a try for a while, but I don’t use steam. Glad to see it made available on Vita, which I think is a natural fit for this.

      How long until Freedom Planet gets ported over? Or Magicians and Looters? Or Valdis Story? 100% Orange Juice is a must, though. Same with Plague Inc: Evolved, Lethal League, Pier Solar, Telltale’s Back to the Future game, Wings of Vi and all of Carpe Fulgur’s published games.

      All of the above need to be Cross-Buy titles for PS4 and Vita.

    Awesome! I was hoping this would happen. I love this game SO much. The soundtrack is awesome. I listen to it ll the time. And a chiptune remix? Niiiice!

    I know it’s a long shot, but any chance there will be the option to use our own music in this version?

    Regardless, i’m looking forward to playing this on PS4, and streaming it some more. So happy about this news.

    Watched a quick gameplay video and this is definitely something I would enjoy playing.
    We’re also getting a remixed soundtrack by Shovel Knight’s composer!?
    Consider my interest piqued, would definitely like to see more regarding this in the future.

    Its great to see the game coming to more platforms!

    I’m wondering if A_Rival and FamilyJules7x soundtracks are coming to the PS4/Vita versions? I love Danny B’s tracks and I’m sure Virt’s tracks will be excellent too, but I liked playing with A_Rival and FamilyJules7x tracks on PC.

    Saw this at PAX a few years ago and it is just delightful. The dancepad will be missed, but I’m curious if the motion controls in the DualShock4 (or the Move!) could be used to the same effect? Will the Vita version use rear touch?

    Also curious if we can use custom music like in the PC version, even if it means game streaming gets disabled due to weird rights issues.

    Looking forward to hearing the great soundtrack on PS4 with HD audio assets.

      I can’t comment on features (a lot of them are still in development), but I can say we won’t be able to bring over the use your own music feature.

    I wonder if PS4 or Ps vita can let player to mod their favorite character and map or weapon to play it. Like on PC game version. Letting player to create your character or your own favorite character and post to share or something like that? Plus it would be cool to purchase some cloth and gears or weapon. you can change color of clothing and weapon. what buying diamond online for $0.99 for 10 diamond? $23.99 for 400 Diamond?

    Been wanting to play this desperately but wanted to wait for a PS release. Thank you for delivering. I think it’ll be a great game on Vita so I’ll be playing on that religiously. I remember seeing on your website you wanted to wait to finish the game before coming to consoles, glad PS is your first choice.

    While I’m not a big fan of rhythm games (no rhythm to speak of here), I do loooooove roguelikes to death (pun intended). Still, this does look as if it’ll convince me to hop in and enjoy it, I must say. Well, it’ll get reviewed on my site at some point.
