Resident Evil Revelations 2 Coming to PS Vita August 18th

Resident Evil and PS Vita fans, rejoice! The long wait is officially over — Resident Evil Revelations 2 is coming to PS Vita digitally on August 18th in North America.

Resident Evil Revelations 2 Coming to PS Vita August 18th

The episodic survival-horror scare-fest we’ve all come to know and love is ready for its handheld debut via digital release on PlayStation Store for $29.99 (Editor’s Note: originally listed incorrectly as $39.99). Made possible by the incredible team at Frima Studio, this collection brings all of the terror, action, and mystery of the console versions to PS Vita. With that in mind, I wanted to take a quick moment to confirm a few of the additions and content we’re packing into this killer compendium.

On top of the four core episodes, you’ll also get two bonus episodes known as “The Struggle” and “Little Miss.” In the first, you’ll learn more about Moira’s struggle to survive on the island between Claire’s departure and Barry’s arrival. In the second, you’ll uncover more about the mysterious girl Natalia and her special abilities. Both episodes play a critical role in understanding these characters and how they play into the main campaign.

Of course, Revelations 2 wouldn’t be complete without Raid Mode which makes a big comeback with 15 playable characters (HUNK and Wesker included) and over 200 missions for lightning-fast action on the go. Additional content includes a throwback map pack and multiple storage expansions for Weapons, Parts, and Albums. If that wasn’t enough, we’ve got an awesome alternative costume pack chock full of new styles for your favorite characters in both Story and Raid modes (Natalia’s costume limited to Story Mode).

All you handheld horror fans can look forward to getting your hands on Resident Evil Revelations 2 on August 18th and we’ll be keen to hear your thoughts on it!

Oh, and as a friendly reminder, Raid Mode 2 player co-op over PlayStation Network is supported out of the gate, and we’ll be adding ad-hoc Raid Mode at a later date via a free content update. Stay tuned for more information.

  • I cant purchase this game unless it has co op story mode. Its whe whole reason i want it. Either announce it, or patch it in if you can my $ please and thanks

  • Que buenas noticia de los nuevos juegos, que se aproximan.
Así como yo, hay muchos que desearíamos que el juegos salga el español o al menos subtitulado.

    En Perú, estamos ansiosos esperando.

  • I want it, but for $40 I expect a physical version, specially with Sony not wanting to lower the price on the memory cards (really? after all this years they are still super expensive)

    • I feel the same way. I would pay $40 for a physical release I will wait and see if the price drops later for digital. If it really is 3GB download like people say I do not have the space for that on my memory card.

  • Cool, though I’m already almost done with chapter 4 the final one. Plan on beating it tongiht, by the way this game is very good! I loved it!

  • Spyro and Crash are not Sony’s responsibility. They lost the publishing rights to those a few years ago, which is why they are available on PS3 and PSP, but not PSVita, because its not their decision. Its Activision, and they seem bent on wiping traces of old spyro and the crash series from the face of the earth in favor of that awful Skylanders series.

Anways, on topic, thanks for the update. My vita has been thrown to the side. I hate most indies and see no good AAA titles. This is a good change. I hope it sells well! I would love to see Remake HD and Zero HD come to Vita if so. I would gladly pay $40+ for those.

  • last thing:

Whats the size? The memory cards are still outrageously priced and I only have a 4GB.

  • I really wanted to get this game…no physical copy, no buy.

  • I am super excited for this game. It has been a while since we go anything of AAA type of a game (Killzone was the last true AAA game), so it is exciting to see something bigger on Vita. But I am afraid that Sony will use this game as an example to show why Vita games wont work on Vita. Even though this game is a big game for Vita, it might fail because of the following:
    1) $39.99. Well, PS4 version is selling for less than $30 elsewhere.
    2) 6 months after the PS4 release; why must Vita versions be months behind and given little attention.
    3) no physical version, not even a limited physical release of lets say 25,000 units.

Having said that, prove them wrong. Buy this game. Convince Sony that we want exclusive games like GTA, NBA 2K, Infamous, Mass Effect. Vita can turnaround if given the right attention, Make things right Sony.

    • It won’t fail. Resident Evil fans are hardcore. I know it’s a different medium but have the RE films “failed?” Nope, I’m surprised it isn’t annualized.

      1. The price is similar or identical to the MSRP when Revelations 2 was released. Also, if gamers by now don’t Understand a Console Vs. Portable experience, well… :/

      2. It’s business; ship & cater to the leading platforms first.

      3. The Asian physical versions have English options but you’ll need to Import. Lots of fans are doing this.

    • I AGREE…

    • luvtoseek. And how much will an import (including shipping) cost me? Kind failed to mention that. I bet that it will be more than $39.99. Also, I want a game in English dialogue not subtitles. I shouldn’t have to pay extra money to import a game that might be in a different language.

  • Is nobody going to descend from on high to talk to the people?

  • Nice one its great to see this type of support for Vita, was really surprised when I saw the announcement even thought we would never see a launch date.Shame its digital only though, and for people with even the slightest hope about retail happening just forget it.Capcom has been doing this with US for quite some time now…they did this even with DmC 4 Special Edition which had a big audience.
And they still dare to blame their fans for not supporting their games…..LOL.Unless the money for retail comes from Sony pockets well, retail ain’t happening anytime soon.
Anyway its really great to see Revelations 2 coming to Vita.

  • I’M ESTATIC THAT YOU GUYS ARE STILL MAKING GAMES FOR THIS SYSTEM. ITS THE GREATEST HARDWARE I EVER EXPERIENCED. AND I KEEP IT WITH ME AT ALL TIMES. I HEAR RUMORS THAT THIS WILL BE THE LAST HANDHELD YOU GUYS MAKE. I HOPE NOT. I’VE HAD THE PS PORTABLE AND THAT WAS GREAT. THE PS VITA EVEN BETTER. PLEASE KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK. KEEP MAKING GAMES.

  • Is this game PlayStation TV compatible?

  • Question;
Will there be any “New” costumes as you say above, or sre you referring to costumes available on other systems? I would very much like if the dev team had taken the time to include ex costumes for Jill and Leon or ome other “extra” for having to wait so very long. Will we see anything like that? Or will this simply be an exact port with zero exclusive content?

  • It looks like the VERY angry person’s comment I saw earlier has since been removed (good riddance!). I have no problem voicing concerns regarding things like overpriced, proprietary memory cards, opinions on price vs. value, and the desire to have this game on a game card… but let’s talk about it in a civilized way. Yeah, I feel like my PS Vita is slowly dying. And yeah, I would DEFINITELY like to fill that seldom-used game card port with this game to free up valuable space on my 32GB card. However, let’s be constructive and civilized instead of telling Sony or Gio to go [blank] themselves or whatever that rant was about.

Anyhow, I for one have been waiting in anticipation for this port’s release date since it’s announcement and will likely download it Day 2 (the day after I read hopefully positive reviews of this version) :) I have thus far passed on the PS4 version as my Vita is my preferred method of play on exhausting weeknights when my wife and I are kicking back streaming Netflix on the TV. I love my Vita!

P.S. #BuildTheList with Portal 2 for Vita!!! I’d love another reason to replay that game, perhaps with touch-screen portal placement?

    • You buying day never then if you’re waiting for positive reception.

    • Yeah, I’m preparing myself for that possibility. Crossing my fingers. I kind of liked the idea of using the tilt sensors for aiming instead of the really sensitive right analog stick of the Vita… just as long as the tilting doesn’t need to be so loose that screen visibility is affected. Flower for Vita wasn’t great with tilt controls. However, I think Uncharted: Golden Abyss had tilt-assisted aiming that helped adjust your aim in addition to the analog stick… that was pretty accurate.

  • So not only do vita owners get the game 4 or 5 months later, but we have to pay full price for a digital only release (and I live in Europe so the $40 price tag will most likely translate to 40€, as usual)? Are you serious?? Smaller publishers release physical copies of niche games but sony/capcom can’t afford to do the same with a frigging RESIDENT EVIL title? Unbelievable. It’s as if you’re doing everything you can not to sell this game. Well good job, because I am not buying it.

    • Yeah we have to pay more that’s true but for a handheld that’s considered a big game you know and that’s a RE. Game .

  • Yesss finally good news for me getting it fist day it has everything the PS3 and ps4 has. Some times they leave the good stuff out of the handheld version which they make a mistake in but this time they got it on their plan.

  • I agree with the complaints about no physical release, but I’m still getting this. It’s pretty much the only high-end game to come out in ages–and that’s why I bought the Vita in the first place: to play these kinds of games!!!! More please!

  • JimmyMcLeodJames

I’m in. I’ve been broke in my early years. Not anymore. Prices don’t bother me. I’ve worked hard for what I’ve got. Like most other things in life, I guess I’ll be one of the few that will try and pull the weight of others “protesting” with there lack of purchasing. It’s like that Tibetan monk who set himself on fire. It accomplished nothing, AND he burned alive. Thank you Sony.

  • Lack of a physical version, honestly might prevent me from getting this. I play alot of vita games, and my memory card just can’t handle that. Also I like to own my games, but that’s another issue. A small part of me is still holding onto the hope that RER2 will get a retail copy sometime soon.

    • Also that price… the PS4 retail version is less than this… what were Sony thinking? Honestly…

  • whats the file size for the game?

  • @2 would you shut up about crash and spyro? people like you piss me off. sony’s not going do a dang thing about it. if they remove my ban from a game they will do this i bet.

  • Is this version going to have that thing of the RE.net ? that let live events happens and you get new stuff like all other residen evil have I think that’s a capcom website that looks good.

  • i know what im getting on august resident evil for the #PSVita

  • Gio said on Twitter that the file size will be less than 3GB. Prepare for compressed audio, textures and FMV.

  • I do hope the extra episodes do come out for the PS3 version.

  • So glad I find myself needing my Vita less and less.
Especially, since its digital only, and costs almost twice as much as the other versions.

As for one of my PS3’s, it’s already on Craigslist.

Steam has been getting my money, because the notebook which I bought for less than a PS4 and a monitor, more than meets my needs and plays just as beautifully.

    It’s just flat out cheaper.

I only check for flash sales these days, and what I save buying it for PC.

The Blog is pathetic, and the less time I spend on it, the better.

  • Given the effort you’ve shown on borderlands 2 vita, I’ll wait for the reviews before picking this up.

  • if I bought this game for ps3 do I get the ps vita one free since its the same play and cross play allows that

  • No physical release. What a joke also 40 for digital what a rip off should be 30 or 35 most. My 64 gb card full. Prob wait for a sale this is ridiculous!

  • Last AAA title for the vita. After this, I think we can all agree that the vita is dead. You know I’m going to buy it for that reason alone

  • Capcom should by right add as a bonus no extra charge the first resident evil revelations game for the delay of resident evil revelations 2 for vita & as a fan service because it makes sense in every regard.

    Cheers Gamers & Happy Gaming!

  • I’ll pick it up for being a AAA on PS Vita, but I’m really worried about whether we migh see other such titles in the future. I hope that at least we see more 3rd party games picked up by Sony.

  • Ri-Ri-the-weenie

I’ve been trying to look everywhere for the version of the trailer for this game that plays one of Dir En Grey’s songs on it.

  • I guess I’ll be importing my physical copy.

    DIGITAL NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • Last year’s PSV on the PSV has a biochemical crisis revelation 2, and that this year’s PSVITA will have any transplant game, I have a dream to have the GTA4 version of the E3, if you can transplant this game I believe sales will certainly good. I hope Sony can R stars and compromise, even the old cold good meal, I have to buy buy buy!
