Vote Armello During PlayStation Vote to Play

Hey guys and gals! Trent Kusters here from League of Geeks. We’re huge tabletop fans here at LoG, and Armello is our passion project to bring board games to life in the medium we know best: video games.

With the stunning world we’ve created, bringing that experience to console was something we just couldn’t resist, and so surely there’s no better way than to mark our arrival on PS4 with PlayStation Vote to Play!

Armello

Set in a vibrant, magical world with a tinge of darkness, Armello thrusts players into a Game of Thrones-esque struggle for power in epic single or multiplayer action.

Players take on the role of a Hero from one of the four animal clans and navigate their character across the procedurally generated board as they quest, scheme, explore, vanquish monsters, perform the Mad King’s royal edicts, and face off against other players, with one ultimate end goal in mind — storming the palace and becoming King or Queen of Armello.

You’ll start your turn in your clan grounds and traverse the board with a set number of action points for each turn to spend on moving their character from tile to tile. Each tile presents different consequences including exploring a dungeon, gaining or losing health, claiming a settlement for your own, or granting stealth. With more than 100 beautifully animated and illustrated cards, you can cast spells, recruit followers, uncover ancient treasures, and execute treacherous plots as you quest for the throne!

There are four ways to win in Armello.

  1. Combat — Slaying the king and surviving the confrontation.
  2. Prestige Victory — Having the most Prestige when the King dies, whether from his afflictions (the King loses health every dawn) or dying in combat with the attacking player also not surviving the battle. Prestige is gained by completing heroic deeds such as killing other players, vanquishing banes, or completing quests.
  3. Spirit Stone Collection — magical Spirit Stones can be found throughout Armello. If a player collects four, they can use them to assist the King in passing in peace, restoring balance to Armello.
  4. Rot Victory — players who defeat the King in combat whilst having more Rot than him (and live to tell the tale) will win the game and shroud Armello in darkness.

ArmelloArmello

We’re convinced you’ll love Armello. It’s something we’ve been pouring our heart and soul (and bank accounts) into for over four years now. All that time we’ve been heavily focused on creating something that not just speaks to that nostalgia we all share for great board games and tales of adventure, but breaks new ground as a contemporary video game.

  • Easy to Play, Hard to Master — Armello is an intuitive game, easy to pick up and experience but with deep and emergent strategy.
  • Dynamic Sandbox — Armello features a gorgeous dynamic world which procedurally generates a new map each and every game, complete with a dynamic quest system ensuring no two games of Armello are ever the same.
  • Multiple Playable Heroes — Full release will include 8 playable Heroes. Each unique Hero possesses a unique power, stat spread, and AI personality. Also heroes can be customized with Amulet and Signet Ring load-outs to match your play style or counter opponents’ strategies.
  • Fast & Thoughtful — Adventuring in Armello is fast-paced fun, filled with deadly tactical and politically complex decisions requiring careful forethought and planning.
  • Turn-Based Day & Night Cycle — Armello features a fuzzy turn-based system, cycling between Day and Night phases. The fuzzy turns allow you to still play cards and do certain actions when it’s not your turn, and when it is you use Action Points to move around the hex board.
  • World Class Music & Audio — By Michael Allen, internationally acclaimed artist Lisa Gerrard, and Jacek Tuschewski.
  • Animated Cards — Armello will feature over a 120+ beautifully animated in-game Cards, from artists all over the world.
  • True Tabletop Feel — We painstakingly cherry-picked the best parts of the tabletop experience, like our custom physics-based dice!

Armello

We like to say that Armello is “Kung-Fu Panda meets Game of Thrones,” but really it’s mostly just a treacherous board game that’ll see you destroy friendships on your way to the throne!

If board games, RPGs or turn-based strategy games are your thing, we can’t wait to hear what you think of Armello.

<3, Trent and the LoG Crew

  • You had me at tabletop.
    My vote all the way.
This game looks like it has more substance over the others.

  • So glad that there’s single player. I liked the game, but I was thinking it was multiplayer only.

    • Yep! We’ve got Singleplayer and we’re cranking the difficulty on the AI before release too. Hehehe. ;)

  • You’re getting my vote!!! ^_^

  • you have my vote, when are we able to vote? i know as of today but what time?

  • I said it the first time when you posted on the blog this game visually reminds me somewhat of Catan (I love that board game way more than Monopoly as it’s easier to play expands and takes less time and you don’t need to figure out percentages to pay rent)

    Looking at steam pricing:
Grow Home is $7.99 on Steam
Armello will be $19.99 on Steam was more during early access from what I read. (is this correct?)
Zombie Viking I have no idea

We won’t know pricing till release for the Playstation but if it’s like steam than I would rather have Sony give Plus Members the more expensive game (Armello) I honestly am interested but not sure if it would be a day one purchase out of pocket because the only thing personally going for it for me is the Catan aspect of the game & purchase the cheaper popular one (Grow Home) as the only drag about that game from reviews is that it’s a short game. I know very little about Zombie Vikings and the only thing it has going for it for me is co-op.

    Does Armello have local co-op?

  • You’ve got my vote

  • Will Armello be getting a Plat throphie? I hope so because the game seems awsome :) (please dont put any online thropies…)

    • Yep! We have a Platinum Trophy! We’ve got a full suite of achievements! All with individual art and there are some brutal ones in there too. ;)

  • So much meat on this bone! Such great art and technology! Board games aren’t really my thing! But your accents are very charming… this is tough.

  • SORRY, BUT THERE IS NOT A CHANCE IN HELL I AM VOTING FOR ANY OF THESE INDIE’S…WHEN U GET AAA TITLES AND/OR TITLES THAT ARE ACTUALLY WORTH IT…THEN I’LL VOTE…

    • What exactly do you think you’re accomplishing with your CAPSLOCK outrage?

If you don’t want to vote then that’s fine but insulting 3 indie studios who aren’t in any way at fault here isn’t going to help with anything.

    • Have the courtesy to fix the Caps lock on your keyboard before posting or in your case, ranting about independent games on the blog ;)

      Thank you

  • This is the only game out of the three that I see the possibility of taking advantage of something unique that most people could use.

That is of course Second Screen:
They could put your cards and resources on it for couch co-op so it is more like a digital board game with the family/friends not knowing what everyone else has.

Grow Home & Zombie Viking could from the look of things been a last gen game.

Grow Home could use the accelerometer for B.U.D.’s drunk like movement but probably doesn’t and that could also have been done last gen like Flower.
Grow Home could also use the Dual Shock speaker like transistor did for B.U.D. but again I don’t see it happening.

Zombie Viking will most likely just use the Dual Shock Light Bar with different colors for the couch co-op.

However, this game could have only been made for this generation of hardware if it uses Second Screen Technology & would be good for Sony as it would promote the mobile apps for Android & IOS.

This game could also be taking advantage of the speaker, and light bar if they implemented it.
The dice sound could come through each players speaker for example and card animation sounds.

  • You’ve got my vote – g’luck guys!

  • Looks incredible, definitely voting for this!

  • Been side-eyeing this game casually for some time, and was planning on picking it up anyway… Looks like something right up my alley… Vote cast as soon as I get back to my console! Good luck!

  • Got my vote!

  • Thank you for having a different type of trailer on the PS4 vote in the top right.

  • You have my vote!

  • How do I vote? Because I wanna vote for this game.

  • This game lost because their trailer shows and explains nothing

    • Exactly. Who thought that one up? Of the people who are unfamiliar with the game, Who’s going to vote for it when the trailer shows nothing of gameplay/mechanics of the genre? Not surprisingly the other two choices that showed gameplay in their trailers are ahead.

  • Has anyone figured out HOW to vote? There are posts everywhere advertising this new feature bot not a single one tells you how to vote, or when voting starts.

    • I received a message in my inbox in the From Playstation folder, and it takes you to the voting page. It’s only on PS4.

  • My suggestion is that instead of having a vote where 2/3 of the PlayStation population will be disappointed, you should make it a selection process to where you pick one of three and you get that game.

  • I voted for Armello. As of now it seats at 3rd place. Just to offer some constructive criticism, out of the 3 Games up for voting on the PS store/page only Armello showed a animated trailer with zero gameplay or hint to the genre it represents.

The other two choices showed gameplay and gave voters a better idea of what to expect. Not surprisingly they are ahead.

Need to show update the current trailer on the vote page showing gameplay to give people a better understanding of Armello.

    My .02

  • already voted for this…. but seems grow home has a big lead…..don’t know but why does that game have so many votes.

  • I am Def buying this game if this does not win thru Vote.

  • I have been looking forward to Armello ever since reading about it in game informer and planned on buying it on the day of release, so getting it free would just be icing on the cake. The other games look pretty good too, but Armello definitely gets my vote!

  • I agree, this should be voted for! Annoyed that Grow Home is the most likely to win – you can just get that on PC for next to nothing!!!

  • You’ve got my vote…

And if this game doesn’t win, well, then you’ve got my money day one

  • I don’t know what the big deal is about Grow Home, looks like Mind Craft to me. Gameplay looks boring too, nothing to to do but connect vines and climb lol. Armello looks way better, regardless if you guys win or lose I will pick this up, you got my vote.Question will the dev be updating this with new heroes and cards later on?

  • I really wish this game would win. I have very little doubt that it has the most replay value and it would benefit a lot more than the other 2 games by being given away to millions of homes so matchmaking is quick and easy. Maybe it will make a comeback in the voting if we can convince people to do some research and change their votes to this clearly better choice.

  • I voted for this game. Hope PS+ will get it next month.

  • I changed my vote to this. It looks different from any other game.

  • I cast my vote for this as it definitely looks like the most interesting and unique game out of all three choices but it’s rather disheartening to see that it’s in third place at the moment. I just don’t understand what the appeal of Home Grown or Zombie Vikings is? Personally I think they look like far too many other indie games we’ve already been given access to or games that could be purchased much cheaper in the first place :(

  • I would vote for you but I don’t have a ps4 yet so apparently I can’t. Which really sucks because I always put the ps4 games on my account and I intend to get a ps4 eventually….

  • Acknowledging the Plat got my vote, but eventual purchase either way! Good luck!

  • i’ve never posted on the playstation blog before, but felt compelled to do so now to say two things:

    1. armello looks amazing. i’ve already voted for it, and if it doesn’t win the slot for PS+ next month, i will undoubtedly buy it outright (as will my 3 co-op buddies).

    2. as others have mentioned, the trailer in the PS store shows zero gameplay and explains nothing about the game itself, and i highly suspect this is why it isn’t fairing too well in the polls. the devs/publishers/whomever should seriously consider changing the trailer if they want to have a chance at winning.

    cheers all,
    motod

  • Wanted this game since I saw the GB Quick Look. I hope it wins, but if it doesn’t I’ll still get it!

  • This is why I hate this new voting system. You put the decision for my next game in the hands of bunch of kids who will vote for a game just because its 3D (doesn’t mater if its only a square 3D) over 2 much better choices.
Go ahead kids, vote for your robot and have fun with it for 2 hours. Yep, if you haven’t read the gameplay is 2h 20m for the main story and 4h 28m Main + Extras… That is all. No replay value, no multiplayer.

Armello and Zombie Vikings voters, please change your vote and unite behind the leading title between this 2.

  • I have the game on PC and backed the project when it was announced on Kickstarter. The game is beautiful and you can really see that LoG has put their time and care into the game. It is unique in that it plays like a table top game, but at the same time you have to use your cards to get ahead of the other guys on the board (the cards are beautifully crafted too, and can counter or upgrade your attacks or even set traps), and be really smart about going head on against the King just cause (pretty bad idea actually).

My vote is with them and I hope to see others vote for it too. Single player and multiplayer are both available so don’t think it is a multiplayer only game. And even playing single mode, the AI doesn’t go ballistic against you, but will go at each other constantly.

  • Hi! I’ve a question. if you don’t win vote to play, we can get the game, right? Buy for it.

  • I voted for it to win. Love the look and feel of this game! Promoting it as much as I can :) If you ever decide to release the phisical board game version, please let me know!
