Because the Vita version has that terrible online mode. So they think that classifies as more content to charge more for.

And yet another week I am glad I switched to Steam / PC.
I am not only mobile and can be work related, but, I can take advantage of much better prices on games such as Assassin’s Creed or Batman.
Picking up Max Payne 3 for $5, and pretty sure it will be the “Definitive” edition.
Truth be told, I almost forgot it used to be Playstation Day.
Oh well, back to The Evil Within, (that I picked up for $15 on Ebay).

PrimeroIncognito the guy is free to say whatever he wants, specially if what he says makes sense.
If you’d rather throw your money at anything PS gives you then you’re part of the real problem and the reason the prices are getting ridiculous even on “sales”.
On the other hand, if you’re looking for them hiring you just send a CV…
+ PrimeroIncognito on September 23rd, 2015 at 3:15 pm said:

Nothing he says ever makes sense.
Imagine if a Coca-Cola fan was going to the Pepsi forums everyday just to tell everyone that Coke is so much better and that everyone who likes Pepsi is a fool… over and over and over and over and over… or, an In-N-Out burger fan was hanging out at McDonalds everyday just to tell the customers not to spend their money there, then brag about how much better the other place is. People would eventually just tell that idiot to go where he likes and leave everybody else alone because the business was neither made for him, nor revolves around him. Get it? Does THAT make sense?
+ PrimeroIncognito on September 23rd, 2015 at 3:21 pm said:
By the way, a little thing called “inflation” is why prices keep rising. What lunacy it is to blame inevitable economical effects on a small set of deep-pockets consumers, not like I “throw all my money at everything Sony gives us” anyway… but, whatever. Ridiculous arguments from pseudo-intellectuals are common these days.
Personally, I wouldn’t waste my time hanging out in a place I didn’t like, but, that’s just me, I guess…
+ zirocrath on September 23rd, 2015 at 5:08 pm said:
Big words! I like that… I actually work on financial costs as a senior analyst … so give me some credit here. Your example makes sense, and I might lack the background of this guy spamming Steam each time he logs, so I give you that.
No, it’s nonsense at all to keep prices as they are at day one until more than 1 year later. Steam and other gaming companies (Nintendo, etc) make price reductions on their games no matter how old they are, and they also do it if the game is not that attractive to the public. While Sony keeps their prices, which ok, you may call that a diversity strategy, offering a better more custom platform for a higher price, but they also put some indie games (ported from other platforms) at a higher price than in the original.
Also, in a market, a Sale has to be public oriented in order to make impact and grow your customers base, and not just profit oriented. Sadly this system has been working for them since there’s still part of the public functional to the company interest..
+ PrimeroIncognito on September 23rd, 2015 at 6:40 pm said:
@ zirocrath
Yes, he spams the $#!# out of this forum with repeated claims that:
1. Sony should listen to him because he’s “wise” (Funny!),
2. He’s a victim of corporate greed, even though less than 1% of Sony’s customers are complaining, and when you see who is complaining, it’s ALWAYS a loud-mouth, spoiled, pseudo-intellectual brat who hasn’t even scratched the surface when it comes to knowledge of industry workings,
3. Steam is “better” even though they’re really just different – an entirely different profit model, less overhead, and a lack of long-term influence to maintain spread across multiple brand divisions. By the way, Valve was graded a big juicy “F” by the Better Business Bureau… ’cause they’re “better”.
+ PrimeroIncognito on September 23rd, 2015 at 6:52 pm said:
Now, as for the other stuff…
Where the hell does “public oriented” come into play here? This isn’t a school or a city park, it’s a niche division of a still somewhat under-appreciated medium. Did you mean to say “consumer oriented”? And, why state the obvious like it’s profound? Do you think Sony wouldn’t know that anyway? After all, they’ve been in business for over 60 years, so, they must be doing something right.
As far as I know, most of these indie games are the same price on XBL and Steam, too, at least when they’re new, so, when the conspiriturds come spewing their libel against Sony “attempting to get away with shady business practices” by “testing the dumb consumers to see how much they’ll tolerate”, it obviously looks really embarrassing for all of us, as a community.
I’ve seen Sony drop their game prices on numerous games and other products/services numerous times, so, I don’t know what you’re talking about. Coincidentally, Nintendo is the company who is notorious for keeping their prices fixed for longer-than-average periods of time.
+ zirocrath on September 23rd, 2015 at 9:03 pm said:
Hmmm.. interesting concepts.
And yeah, I meant consumer oriented.
For that I meant that a company should listen to their costumers instead of applying the “just deal with it” policy.
I do respect your opinion since you seem to be well versed.
Still, you can’t ignore a big number of unsatisfied people that invested their profits in products that went sent astray.
I for instance bought a Vita back when it came out, hoping to see more titles like those that came out at the beginning, and now I barely have an additional joystick for the PS4 supplied with indie games and niche oriented games. Many people complained about that and I’m not talking about this forum only.
So that’s what I was referring to when I said Sony doesn’t listen to their customers.

On the other hand, I disagree with you on regards of Nintendo. I have a 3DS and I see frequent price drops. Might not happen with their golden label titles that often, but it does most of the times. Also, my friends who use Steam showed me how after a year most games drop 50% their prices.
I understand that not all companies should be the same, but I don’t share the way Sony responds to the public claims…
Aaaanyway… we won’t change anything here. My final thought here is not to place ourselves under the wing of a company, dis-regardless how much we appreciate it, we should learn to spect more.

@zirocrath : Hey, bro…you’re free to do whatever you wish, since you don’t know me and you have zero reason to trust me but I’ll say it anyway: don’t confuse “big words” with “well versed”.
A semi-smart FANBOY it’s still a FANBOY. And there’s no reason to feed them. They will spin a huge web of “truths” for anything to defend the company they love.
So…trust me: don’t waste your time. There’s no point in arguing with someone that only sees “his truth” as “the only truth”.
Take care yourself. ;)

But 12.99$ seriously sony? Do you not have any stats how nobody buys these games at such ridiculous prices without refunds as in Steam & Google play? Maybe at $2.99
+ JVir on September 23rd, 2015 at 9:16 am said:
I’m pretty sure they are aware, or else it wouldn’t be priced like that. Just because the crap App stores like Google Play and IOS price them stupid cheap, it doesn’t mean that no other game should be higher than that.

I keep seeing this and I will try and explain it again. Hopefully at least one person will gain something from this.
Valve, Sony and Microsoft do not make the sales you see on these games!
Prices and sales are all set by the publishers.
Now some retail stores have a bit more control, but most sales are set by the people who release said item. Good example was Mad Max Fury Road was $27.99 at Target, Amazon, and Best Buy at release for the 3D Blu-ray set.
Even if you look at the Xbox store or PSN store, many of the same games go on sale between them from week to week. So if Assassin’s Creed is on sale this week on PSN, then next week it might be on sale for Xbox Live. Generally the same prices as well.
Also even Steam has the prices, unless it is one of the low end indie titles.
So if you want to complain about price, you are in the wrong place. Look up Ubisoft, EA, Capcom, Square-Enix or whoever is the publisher of said title.
+ ZeldaLovesMe on September 23rd, 2015 at 2:06 am said:
You don´t know how things work buddy. It´s sonys PLATFORM and sonys STORE so they make the rules. They make contracts about putting games on sale whenever they want. It depends on the publishers how it´s done and if they want to agree to it, of course.
You can even see for the sony games, there just was a great deal on Pupeteer but other games like the great Siren are almost never on sale. Who do you want to blame here if not sony?
+ ZeldaLovesMe on September 23rd, 2015 at 2:22 am said:
Another thing, see Driveclub,.
People dont even know whats actually in what version.
The “full game” (without season pass) is now just $15 and they claimed in twitter its the full game but the description in the store says its only INDIA Tracks. wtf?
Do you really want to say Sony isn´t the most amateurish company in history of videogames and that´s the reason they´re dying to mobile who do everything better?
+ SilentNova on September 23rd, 2015 at 12:56 pm said:
@Zelda
First of all they do make some contracts which is true, but overall if there is an Ubisoft sale, Ubisoft decided on it. Also your argument is more about the way they handle content in the store. I was referin to the sales alone. Also I know a lot about the subject.
So the Publishers do decide the sales. Sony in this case likely did not prompt Ubisoft in anyway who is trying to promote Assassin’s Creed Syndicate. In fact next week you will likely see the same sale on Xbox and then Steam. Now some of the Batman games have PS+ sales on top of the sale already which would hint at a higher possibility of them working it out ahead of time.
+ Orpheus_Aeons on September 24th, 2015 at 5:03 pm said:
@SilentNova : You’re right…and so is ZeldaLovesMe. And that’s why there’s really no point in arguing about this. =\
Yes, Sony doesn’t control most of what goes on sale nor most of the prices. But it’s also true that Sony COULD DO IT. And that’s why a lot of people complains about that sort of thing.
You think all the “free” PS+ games are “free” because those publishers want to? ;)
