The 3.00 system software update on PS4, codename: Kenshin, will be available to download starting tomorrow, September 30th. We want to extend our sincere thanks to everyone that participated in the beta. I want you to all know that we’ve listened. Your feedback made this system software update even better.
There are a lot of changes in this update, from entirely new features to UI enhancements. While we detailed its key features earlier this month, we wanted to give a visual tour of our favorite new additions. This update is focused on creating new ways to connect with friends and players around the world, expanding the social capabilities of the system even further.
Sharing video clips to Twitter: Now it’s easy to share video clips to Twitter directly from your PS4. You’ll see a new icon on the Upload Video Clip menu, nestled between Facebook and YouTube. Maximum video length is 10 seconds, though you’ll have the ability to trim longer clips. Don’t forget — you can double tap the Share button to start recording a video, and press it again to stop.
PlayStation Plus: We’ve made a dedicated section for PlayStation Plus, which you can access by clicking the big Plus icon on the top left corner of your PS4 home screen. Once there you can easily manage your membership, see the monthly free games to download, deals for PS Plus members, and all of the games you’ve redeemed through PS Plus on PS4.
YouTube live: You’ll see a new icon for YouTube on the Broadcast Gameplay Screen, accessible after hitting the Share button. Now you can live stream directly from your PS4 to YouTube. Livestreams will be viewable across YouTube.
PNG Screenshots: If you’d like your game screenshots to be in a higher quality format, you can now select PNG instead of JPEG. To access, press Share > Share Settings > Screenshot Settings > Image Format.
Events: A new hub for Events has been added to PS4, accessible from the home screen. This will give you an overview of activities taking place in the games you play most, as well as official broadcasts. For instance, here’s an in-game racing event taking place in Project Cars, which you can register for directly from the Events hub.
Improvements to Messages and Favorite Groups: We’ve improved Messages by making it easier to access groups of people you chat and play games with frequently. Once you’re added to or create a group, you’ll see the online status for friends, what games they are playing, and the option to message or chat in party all in one spot. When you add or create a new favorite group, they’ll appear in your Friends app under Favorite Groups for quick access. For example, you can see we have favorite groups for Call of Duty, Rocket League, and Destiny.
Communities: PS4 users will have the ability to create communities based around shared interests, like games, genres, and more. Communities include a message board with general discussion, screenshots shared by players, and the ability to join parties / games.
Stickers: From the PS4 system’s Messages app, you’ll see a new option for Stickers. The 3.00 update will contain stickers themed around Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, Knack, LittleBigPlanet 3, Resogun, and more. Instead of typing out a message, just send a sticker — like Drake looking at a watch, asking you to wait a minute.”

The first thing I noticed about the new communities section is that it doesn’t update at all. I get notification about a new post in my community but when I go to read them, it won’t update at all. I click the refresh button and nothing. Did Sony not test this at all? 30 seconds of testing and you’ll see the community section doesn’t work at all. Why is the public testing out new features that don’t work? Isn’t that supposed to be done before the features are released?
Please add it were we can refund dlc’is because I want my money back so I can get Black Ops 3 dlc’s
I keep getting spam invites to communities from someone on my friends list. I removed them from my friends list, then I blocked them. Still getting invites, and it’s really annoying.
Um… Is there REALLY no option to appear offline still? Is this some kind of joke?

Just let me sort my games and remove the ugly Destiny Alpha/Beta demos from my library already. I like how when I log in as a different user it still shows me games from the other user on the menu or vice versa…. *SARCASM*. Is privacy not a thing these days SONY? Step up your game…

I just updated to 3.00 and the ps plus icon is missing from the menu. I believe its supposed to be on the left side of the notifications icon, but its not there. Please look into this!

Messages layout is terrible now,why remove the green/blue scheme?…why move the options from right to left?

Hmm how about giving an update that let’s a user filter their downloads in the download’s list. It’s a pain navigating through that thing every time. I mean, I appreciate that it’s listed by the date at the time of purchase, but how about giving the option to list it by format, title, etc. C’mon Sony, I’ve been a proud consumer since 97′ and have been watching you guys go downhill ever since. For example, out of many, you guys changed the PSN store into an Xbox-esque kind of GUI which was NOT a good move. And don’t even get me started on the PS4’s GUI. XMB + Old PSN Store > xbox copycat GUI + store. Oh and thanks for the recent PS Vita update. The stability of my system has VASTLY improved over the last 5 stability updates.
Yet again, we’re ignored as to what we want and are told what we want. More social media. What… did they think about this for a whole 5 minutes?
I like the update very much but the favorite groups is not what i wanted or what i thought it was going to be. I just wanted to organize my friends list so i knew who was who. Now every person in the group i create gets a message at once…i could do that before if i wanted. Its more for people that play a certain game together and want to plan things..which is fine. But i still want to organize my list so please SONY make another update soon to add a more organized friends list…kind of like how AOL instant messenger was like…you can have groups and just put your friends in one group and family in another. But not to send one message to all your friends.
WELL i like the idea that youtube has been added to live stream but frankly ps4 needs to make a better experince for the way they keep updating on the console like more feedback and free multiplayer online for those who cannot afford to pay for these services not everybody has the luxuary of having PLAYSTATION PLUS
Its about time that we should be able to access our trophy’s with OUT been online. Get notifications when our friends are on/offline. Better ps plus games instead of the s..t we get. Microsoft are producing better updates better features for the xbox one what do we get f…ing stickers. sony you need to up the tempo or you will lose a lot of custom, you need to start listening to your customers and what they are asking for
There needs to be a way to report a community in and of itself, not just a post, description or picture. Just found one that’s for people to talk about drug use.
The new update (3.00) has screwed up the Hulu app. Now I can’t access hulu, just brings up an error. I deleted the app and redownloaded it but still an error when I open the app.. can this fixed??

Hi, I’ve got a problem after update to 3.0.
I’ve bought new PS4 and after first lanuch and update to 3.0, I don’t see “Playstation Store” icon in User Interface. It’s usually presented at the left side of “What’s new?”. Have You encountered that issue? Anyone have idea, how to get “Playstation Store” icon in application menu?

3.0 seems to be even more buggy with HDMI than 2.5 was.
Firstly, 2.5 behavior:
2.5 introduced a new bug where sometimes audio over HDMI would stop transmitting unless i rebooted console. I use a 2014 Vizio 4k TV using an HDMI 2.0 port. Audio and video output over HDMI. audio encoded as bitstream. TV then outputs audio via optical cable to receiver (bitstream).. I had tested thoroughly though and when audio breaks it’s because ps4 stops sending it, not because tv does. It would be fixed via booting, or sometimes just toggling audio off of HDMI then back to HDMI would fix it.
3.0 behavior:
in ADDITION to above,now sometimes even video flickers, a lot after a fresh boot. So far it hasn’t continued after console is idle for a few seconds. But when it first boots both audio and video cut out and flicker a good dozen times while console is populating games. Like it can’t afford the CPU to keep a steady HDMI signal and load stuff at same time.
Prior to 2.5, no audio or video bugs at all
Still can’t change my username (seriously, this was my SOCOM 2 tag. For the love of god, Sony…), no custom folders, my many PS3 avatars are still not “compatible” (are you freaking kidding me), no way to personalize my device – remove things I don’t want on my screen, and a bunch of social network features that I’ll never use…? Huzzah.
I like the new additions! Just one question, how do I delete people from my friends list? It’s not in the option anymore, and all the people I spoke to can’t find it either.

How come you guys have not added the ability to delete your trophy list for a game that u wanna go back play and try to gain the trophys again?
We rally need a search feature for the communities function. This was a grievous oversight Sony.
May I make a request for the next major update?
Let us change our PSN names. Charge us, so trolls don’t generate fake acounts over and over.
What Sony will benefit form it will heavily outweigh any negatives resulting from that option.
This update ruined my PS4. I can’t log in or go online on my account
I would like to be able to pin or have a folder of my most used apps or apps I want to keep at the front of the game/app selection interface.
I would also like to be able to choose a wallpaper for my system of my own choice.
I don’t really understand events and wish I could take it off my interface. It is right in the middle of all my social icons that I actually use.
Support of 3rd party audio Bluetooth devices would be one of the best missed features
Quick question regarding YouTube streaming. Since the feature is officially part of the PS4 now I assume we can stream and also archive streams with every game that supports the feature… without having to fear copyright infringement claims other than content id which is rather harmless)
What about streams that are edited and re-uploaded to your channel? For instance, i want to post a separate clip of me getting a certain trophy or do a best of compilation. Is that also overed by the associated copyright agreement?
My YouTube channel Playzocker Reviews has been without any copyright problems for over 4,5 years and I want to keep it that way. I’d be glad if anybody can shed light on this topic for me.
This whole create a “community” thing is a bad idea? And because you’ll have “20 billion” communities all based on the same subject:[ Because everyone has to their own little “thing” but you really don’t have own little “thing” because “jhony come lazily” can copy you if he wishes. That and it’s also a huge popularity contest, One community on the same subject is you really need. You see this bs on forums, all the time. All it’s going to lead to is a bunch of arguments and fights and stolen ideas. Good thing no1 can steal my community idea, or even attempt to because it’s Trademarked! And thing is you’ll respect it, because i don’t care if your 10, 11, 13 years old? I will sue you for everything your worth. So go ahead and try me! Say you have 20 communities based on “The Flash” your asking gamers to commit to 20 communites based on the same subject matter. The issue is, gamers have way to many pointless options today.

Ever since the update my ps4 hasn’t been syncing with my controllers. Normally pressing the center button on the controller to power in the ps4 but now I have to reset ps4 maybe twice for this to work
Overall cool improvements, but one super annoying feature and please change it or give an option to control it. undernether each game now is a “player recommended” live stream window, it is extremely annoying to scroll past it and have it start playing the live stream, I don’t want to hear a player playing the game while I am scrolling down to see if any new DLC is available or to see what my most recent trophy is, I really do not like having the live stream underneath each game, I wish it would just stay in the live stream app and under whats new.
Can you PLEASE make an update to lets developers (like 2k) the ability to add the custom music option in games !! Just like the PS3, for some game, you can use your own music in the game.
