2K on PS Now

2K is releasing blockbuster games on the PlayStation Now Subscription service today:

  • Borderlands (New!)
  • Borderlands 2 (New!)
  • BioShock (New!)
  • BioShock 2 (New!)
  • BioShock Infinite (Existing)

Here’s a short introduction to each of the Borderlands and BioShock games that are included in the subscription catalog.

Borderlands (New!)

2K on PS Now
Known for its addictive action, frantic first-person shooter combat, massive arsenal of weaponry and RPG elements, Borderlands is a genre-bending (same might argue genre re-defining) modern shooter experience. Borderlands places you in the role of a mercenary on the lawless and desolate planet of Pandora, hell bent on finding a legendary stockpile of powerful alien technology known as The Vault. (Rated Mature)

Borderlands 2 (New!)

2K on PS Now
Play as one of four new Vault Hunters facing off against a massive new world of creatures, psychos and the evil mastermind, Handsome Jack. Make new friends, arm them with a bazillion weapons and fight alongside them on a relentless quest for revenge and redemption across the undiscovered and unpredictable living planet of Pandora. (Rated Mature)

BioShock (New!)

2K on PS Now
BioShock introduces an exciting world filled with fascinating characters, intelligent enemies and complex moral choices that define the foundation of the game world. With its rich story, meticulous attention to visual detail, tense action and infinite replay value, BioShock delivers the perfect blend of storytelling and first person action. (Rated Mature)

BioShock 2 (New!)

2K on PS Now
BioShock 2 provides players with the perfect blend of explosive first-person shooter combat and compelling award-winning storytelling. The halls of Rapture once again echo with sins of the past. Along the Atlantic coastline, a monster has been snatching little girls and bringing them back to the undersea city of Rapture. Players step into the boots of the most iconic denizen of Rapture, the Big Daddy, as they travel through the decrepit and beautiful fallen city, chasing an unseen foe in search of answers and their own survival. (Rated Mature)

BioShock Infinite (Existing)

2K on PS Now
Indebted to the wrong people, with his life on the line, veteran of the U.S. Cavalry and now hired gun, Booker DeWitt has only one opportunity to wipe his slate clean. He must rescue Elizabeth, a mysterious girl imprisoned since childhood and locked up in the flying city of Columbia. Forced to trust one another, Booker and Elizabeth form a powerful bond during their daring escape. Together, they learn to harness an expanding arsenal of weapons and abilities, as they fight on zeppelins in the clouds, along high-speed Sky-Lines, and down in the streets of Columbia, all while surviving the threats of the air-city and uncovering its dark secret. (Rated Mature)

  • Why doesn’t the UK ever receive any of these games? As an actual supporter of PlayStation Now (we all know how unpopular it is in a general view) it’s really frustrating that PlayStation Now UK doesn’t get any of these games.
You say you want to be like Netflix for video games. Well, in a way you are by prioritizing the USA.

    • I dunno ask the EU blog.

    • Just so you know SCEA and SCEE and SCEI are like different companies. There’s attempts to fix that, but it’s hard because these regions have COMPLETELY different rating systems, different licensing policies, different laws to deal with, different language requirements, and I assure you blaming the American division for Playstation is meaningless.

Maybe I’m wrong, maybe something has changed in the past 3 years, but… you coming here to complain about UK PS Now is like me calling up the UK to ask why my health care options suck, and why they don’t give me better health care.

    • Why are you complaining to the US? Sony in the US has nothing to do with Sony Europe. I wouldn’t play the Borderlands games on Now though. Just buy them. You’ll want to play them too much to play over a streaming service.

  • Is the Burial At Sea DLC available??

  • For the folks that like and use PlayStation Now, I’m curious how many folks choose the subscription over individual titles. Any comments?

I know I’ve said it before, but for the games like Borderlands 2 and BioShock Infinite that I already have as a PS+ entitlement with my account, I’d really like to be able to stream them through PSNow on PS4 with no time limits (other than needing an active PS+ subscription). And I imagine if other folks were given this opportunity too they would be more likely to try out PS Now and may pick up a dedicated subscription for that down the line.

  • Very good titles indeed. Unfortunately I cannot see the appeal of paying for this service at the moment. The idea of renting games that I have already purchased is a no-no. also, the subscription is 20 dollars per month/ 240 dollars per year/1200 dollars for 5 years? If after 5 years I want to stop my subscription and stop spending on games I would have nothing out of this invested beside whatever game time I squeezed out of those years. Sure, traditional purchases might not allow me to have access to that huge catalog of software (all ready and available) but depending on how I distribute the spending I can have a console at home and a very good selection of (lets say PS4) greatest games after the end of the same period for the very same price (which hopefully I can keep and play”forever”)

Perhaps it would be a bit different if I had not invested on a ps one, ps2, ps3, psp, psv and ps4 along with hundreds of games already. Maybe this is more for those who do not spend money on consoles and can access PS NOW from their existent TV’s, laptop or smartphones.

  • I would rather prefer a Bioshock collection on ps4 with all the DLC. I don’t want to rent games, prefer to own them.

    • I love Bioshock (especially the first) and waiting for this collection since the first September 2015 rumors. But, at this point, since Sony it’s adding in PS Now catalog and Microsoft it will make it available this month via backwards compatibility i dont seeing this happen – Unfortunately.

If happens is an instant buy for me.

  • Again With “this” Ps Now???
Sony focuse on your Own device AKA PS VITA and stop take money from people Who allready have this games…
SUPPORT THE PS VITA AND FORGIVE THE PS NOW…

  • That’s great… but how do I removed Playstation Now from my PS4??? I will never, ever use it… and it takes up a valuable spot on my Menu. It’s really annoying that I can’t remove it. Same with Playstation Vue… I have ZERO interest in your subscription services. Please make them removable.

  • Is the DLC included on Borderlands 1 & 2? Thanks!

    • This is something I would like to know as well. Mainly are the DLC characters or Borderlands 2 included. Me and my friend just got PS4s and we are interested in using the service. We have been playing BL2 alot and have several high level characters. The catch is the main one he uses in the Necromancer which is DLC. I know there is the Handsome Jack Collection but I travel and if I can use the Vita on the go, that will be great.

  • I’m so glad that titles continue to be added to PS Now, especially considering that many of these are well-established AAA franchises!

I just finished playing Catherine and loved every minute! My fingers are crossed for Mass Effect 3 (Mass Effect 2 has been available for some time)!

I’m loving the service! Keep up the great work!

  • Wow! Thanks Sony! Really looking forward too playing these on the vita keep up the good work

  • Eeeh i just get these free on xbox 1 with real backwards compatibility no subscription needed.

  • I really enjoyed the beta trial for this service; it performed surprisingly well from a technical standpoint, and the subscription catalogue is starting to look pretty decent. But I’m hoping that they announce a PS Plus member discount at PSX this weekend. If that happens, I’m on board. It would be pretty fantastic to play PS3 games on Vita during my lunch breaks.

  • why won’t this service die already? Sony should cancel this service before it loses Sony even more money. let me get this through your thick skulls Sony. people want to actually own their games not rent then and get worse quality and especially when we have PS3 remasters theres simply no need for PS Now to exist.

  • It’s too bad I can’t get another free trial now that I have a PS4 and Vita, I would like to see how it works on those. Also I think plus members should get a free rental every month but I don’t want them to change the way plus works, only add to it.

  • Did You Guys Forget About The New PlayStation Plus Games For December ? Because It’s The First Tuesday Of December And You Guys Usually Let Us Know The Day Before.

  • I have noticd a lack of titles from Namco and Konami. Will we ever see titles like tekken tag 2, siul calibur V or metalgear solid 4 on ps now?

  • These are fun and great games, can’t wait to try them out :D Any chance of more third party games coming to PS Vita? Would love to Bioshock, and The Darkness 2. :)

    • Hi KillerBane91 – All of our 250+ PlayStation Now Subscription games are able to be streamed to your PS Vita. This includes today’s new releases: BioShock, BioShock 2, as well as BioShock Infinite, which is already within the subscription. If you don’t have the PlayStation Now app for PS Vita, you can download it from the PS Store.

    • ok thank you :)

  • I want to like PS Now. The beta on my PS3 played surprisingly well, so the technology is there – and the library truly is getting better all the time. I just wish that if they’re going to be a “Netflix of games,” (not sure that’s from Sony, but I saw it above and it’s an apt description) that they’d have prices closer to Netflix as well. For $8-10 a month I can get Netflix – I’m not sure this is worth twice that price for game rentals. It’s interesting, I’m just not convinced, especially when I’m already paying for Plus, and I have a PS3 with some of these games on it ready to go.

Throw in larger discounts – permanent pricing changes, not promotions – and you might win me over. Then again, with the backlog I just created with the Black Friday sale, it may be a while before I’m looking for something else to play (and by then, Uncharted and Ratchet and Clank will be out).

  • The only thing that bothers me about this announcement is that Microsoft not only beat you to the punch with Backwards Compatibility, but you make it seem as if it’s worth the value to stream it when these games are already released and is playable on next gen consoles. I do enjoy the streaming service but at this moment, I’m actually playing Borderlands on my Xbox One because it’s cheaper to play it (I spent $4 on the Game of the Year edition) and it doesn’t take away anything. I hope that SCE will be able to provide more usage of these stream services and not make me pay (AGAIN) for the games that I own both digitally and physically. PS3 games should be playable on PS4 via digitally, not streaming. But this is my opinion and I hope for more content soon on the console

  • If you go to the PlayStation YouTube site and sort the 4300+ videos by popularity, you will see that the second most popular video (with over 15 million views) is that hilarious video that illustrated how easy it is to share games on the PS4 (one person simply handed a disk to another). It was a simple powerful statement that summed up a lot of the reasons people abandoned the XBox brand at the beginning of this console generation. I hope that Sony does not underestimate the consumer demand for physical copies of games that can be saved, shared, resold, work in 20 years, etc. I think PlayStation Now is great for people that want to play their games that way, but please don’t let that be the first step toward doing away with physical media in the future.

  • I took advantage of the 7 day free trial, and actually loved the service. The games streamed seamlessly. I plan on subscribing when the library grows a bit more. Most of the games, I’ve either already played, or have no interest in. Keep up the great work!

    • Thanks klassymike – glad to hear you gave the free trial a shot and enjoyed the service. Hope you’ll come back and check out our blog each month, as we will continue adding to the catalog regularly. We’ll actually be back on Saturday.

  • Why Borderlands 2, the ps4 version is out now. Yoda says, Re Re that is, yes.

  • I know the Borderlands series like the back of my hand. Time for some easy trophies.

  • After being a Playstation Now member for several months, I wanted to just say how pleased I am with the service. The games stream flawlessly for me on my Samsung TV and the addition of new games every month is awesome.

For $15.00 a month, we get an instant library of over 250 games to stream, that’s only $5.00 more a month than Netflix, so I don’t understand some of the complaints. Netflix has movies I’ve already purchased on Blu-Ray, so just because you bought a game should not entitle you to play it free on Playstation Now.

Playstation Now is literally the future of gaming and as the library grows to include PS1, PS2, and PS4 games, I can’t tell you how excited I am to be on board. Please Sony, do not let the negativity of some people have any impact on the success of this service. I want to thank you again for being ambitious enough to invest in game streaming because it is awesome and I do believe it is the future even if some are too stuck in their ways right now to see it.

  • We shouldnt be charged for games we already own on PSN. PS Now is a joke and a ripoff

  • Ps Now for Mexico pleaaaaseee

  • i was playing borderlands 2 and got to lvl 10 and it said i need a different verision of the game after playin online for a hour or two what does this mean

  • Sweet! as long as new games are thrown on here every month like this, this netflixs for games service will continue to be great. and If PS1+Ps2 classics ever get added to the suscription with>>>>>> trophy support, it will be a must have!

  • Please bring in the future to PS now more 2K games like The Darkness 1-2, The Bureau: XCOM Declassified, Top Spin 4 and of course some Rockstar sweetness (Red Dead Redemption, Bully, Grand Theft Auto V).

  • Playstation,
This is a very smart way for you guys to make money. What do the people really want? Backwards capability! Im sure this is possible with a software update albeit not as profitable for you guys, but doesn’t it make more sense to give your customers what they want? It would be a mega slap in the face to xbox 1, that you guys can sit back and enjoy for a long time :) and you cant put a value on all the enjoyment that you and us (your customers) will have. Can you?

    • I don’t think backwards compatibility can be done by a software update. It requires specific hardware in the play station which I think Sony thinks is to expensive cause then they’d have to charge more for the ps4. I think but I could be wrong

    • Backwards compatibility can be done in an update. Microsoft did it for the Xbox one last month.

  • Thanks Sony I love playstation now :) it’s great. Unfortunately I’ve played all the games I wanted and all of your new ones except borderlands 2 which I am very much interested. Just need to wait until more games that I’m interested are added before renewing my subscription. One game I’m really hopi g for the batman origins. It came out right before ps4 came out and nv got a chance to play. Also the mass effect titles would be an amazing add also. Thanks

  • I signed up for the free trial of ps now mainly because the inclusion of borderlands and bioshock 1&2. I go on ps now to play borderlands and it isn’t there. I look on the wiki page for ps now and the last edit was taking the borderlands and bioshock games off the list of available psnow titles. Hopefully they haven’t been removed so soon after putting them on there. My subscription switches over to paid tomorrow but I will probably cancel it if these titles are unavailable. Hope it’s not the case

  • Ever since you uploaded the wb games the 2k games disappeared. You used to have an option to view all games but now its all in categories, which is very inconvenient. Here’s an example. Kane and lynch can no longer be found either but since i played it, i can find it in the library. But the fact is, if you havent played a game thenyou cant find it in your library so then you are just not able to play the game. I was gonna play BioShock today but it looks like I can’t BC it has been removed but everything I Google says it should still be on there. Please fix this and bring back the view all games options
