Blast ‘Em Bunnies Launches March 8th on PS4, PS Vita

Dust off your carrot rifle and polish your watermelon machinegun! Blast ‘Em Bunnies is coming to PS4 and PS Vita on March 8th!

In Blast ‘Em Bunnies you are a cute, cartoon bunny called Bang Bang who must defend your rabbit burrow against an onslaught of evil bunnies. These bunnies have captured your offspring and one of them, the evil Throatslitter, is holding them hostage.

Grab your carrot rifle, watermelon machine gun, turnip mortar, or runner bean laser and take them down! Spend those coins you shoot on new weapons, upgrades, and ammo including sticky raspberries, heat seeking chili seeds, shredding leek lasers, or bouncing, splitting, exploding pumpkin bombs! How long can you survive?

This is our first HD console release and we’ve strived to craft a fun, friendly, and frenetic first-person shooter for the family. Simply pick up your controller and get blasting bunnies! We’ve been beavering away for a while now making Blast ‘Em Bunnies awesome for PlayStation owners by supporting cross buy, cross save, and optional motion controls allowing you to point and shoot. We are also currently experimenting with possible future PlayStation VR add on content.

The game features four different weapons to purchase and upgrade and 16 different bullet types to combine with your chosen weapon for maximum tactical effect. By shooting coins you can save up to purchase weapons, upgrades, ammo, or health upgrades — allowing you to survive longer against the ferocious evil bunnies. Should you save up for the runner bean laser or go straight for new heat seeking parsnip ammo? Tough decisions abound!

With more than 50 medals to be unlocked and missions which refresh either on completion or daily, you’ll always be faced with a challenge. If you’re looking for harder difficulties and modes you can take on Survival mode in Easy, Normal, Hard, and Very Hard (where you need to survive for as long as you can) or try out Slaughter mode in Normal, Super, or Ultra difficulties (where you must survive for 2 minutes with weaker weapons and health depending on difficulty).

Each battle takes place in an arena with bunnies spawning to try to bring you down. Runners, Walkers, Burrowers, Grenadiers, Blockers, and Bosses all conspire to defeat you. While the Throatslitter macabrely tries to dispatch your young from a distance and the Golden Bunny evades your bullets lest you unleash Frenzy Mode.

You can also customize your experience with purchasable add-on content from PlayStation Store. There are 5 new arena and matching skin packs which cover Ninjas, Zombies, Urban Army, Clowns, and Luchadores. Add on content can be purchased individually or in bundles with bundles giving a deeper discount on pricing. Be sure to check out PlayStation Store closer to release for all of the great additional content! The base game will be $4.99.

We’re so excited to finally launch our first PS4 game and love all of the great graphical additions we brought to it. We’re eager to answer any questions you have about the game so just pop them in the comments and we’ll get right on it.

  • Wow this game is finally coming out huh. Good to see and looking forward to it. Nice to see it coming to Vita still too. Does the game have a Platinum trophy guys?

    • Hi Mercenary09,

Unfortunately we don’t have a Platinum. As I mentioned to Kishnabe we do have loads of missions, medals and challenged to complete some of which are ultra challenging!

Thanks and we hope you enjoy the game.

    • Thanks for the reply guys. Seems weird that you guys could have 73 achievements on the xbox one version but couldn’t have a Platinum on the PlayStation versions.

  • …such a wordy post, and yet not a SINGLE screenshot or video of the actual game.

  • There is a trailer available via youtube (http://www.youtube.com/nnooo) or the EU PlayStation Blog (https://blog.eu.playstation.com/2016/02/09/cartoon-shooter-blast-em-bunnies-coming-to-ps4-and-ps-vita-next-month/). Sorry it didn’t make it up on the US blog in time!

  • Platinum?

Is the game cross play….as in Vita can matchup with PS4 users?

    • Hi Kishnabe!

Unfortunately not! We do have heaps of amazing content in the game in the place of medals to unlock by completing various tasks and challenges!

    • Hi again Kishnabe,

The game is cross-save compatible with the PS4/PSVita versions and all trophies will unlock across both. So you can start the game at home, save and then sync to the PSVita and carry it on the move.

Just make sure you remember to sync your saves when you get home to keep them both up to date!

Thanks again (and sorry I missed this earlier)

Are you also excited to have released this game on XBOX360 but not PS3? Wonder why that is?
Sad to see how MS keep supporting its own products, while Sony rush to kill its own platforms.

Maybe you should have do this on your own, there are still far more users on PS3 then PS4/Vita combined.

    • Hi RetroDaddySlim,

Unfortunately we are only a team of 2. We would have loved to support these other platforms but had to choose based on when we thought the game was coming out and which platforms we could realistically support with just 2 full time developers!

We are already supporting 4 very different platforms and this is partly what increased the development time so much for us!

We are massive fans of all games platforms and are sad we cannot support all of them!

Thanks again and we hope you love the game if/when you pick it up on any of the supported platforms :)

    • Chill out dude

    • The 360 was easier to develop for than the PS3 for one so blame it on that not Sony.

    • Its a fake account, the dude is just trolling.

  • Thanks for supporting the Vita. Day 1 buy 4 me

  • Getting sick of the babyish indies. Don’t understand why the PS4 is turning into the Wii.

    • We can’t reasonably expect the biggest console on the planet to only support games geared towards mature adults. :P

  • I’m making over $7k a month working part time. I kept hearing other people tell me how much money they can make online so I decided to look into it. Well, it was all true and has totally changed my life. This is what I do… Earnmore9.com

  • Game looks good, will definitely keep an eye out for it! Will the Vita version support PSTV?

  • Looks really interesting, I can see why VR support is a post-release possibility. will the PS4 version support stereo 3D on 3DTVs?

I’m very interested to try out the DS4 motion controls — thanks for putting some effort into taking advantage of the awesome controller hardware!

While I’d love to see PS3 support as well so I can play with my nephews and friends who still game on PS3, I can understand the lack of ROI there. Based on what I’ve heard from multiple devs, non-AAA games average around ~10k sell-through+play on PS3. It just doesn’t pay for itself anymore, largely thanks to the instability of the PS3 Store App that has made it nearly unusable for most people in the last 18 months.

Totally awesome to see Vita support, and cross-save no less. Great value!

Can you talk about the lighting in the PS4 video trailer? The way the shadows between the blades of grass interact is really interesting looking. (Hopefully some of the muddier textures are fixed before release.)

    • There is a day to night lighting system with real-time shadows being cast by and onto everything in the environment. We have softened the shadows a little to try to make them more “Pixar” like. Each blade of grass is being animated to move in the same direction as the wind trails and they also cast and self shadow.

We also have rim lighting and increased the ambient colour to give the game a more cartoony style.

      Glad you like the look!

  • Totally understand that you’re a team of two, but having 73 achievements on the other platform and no platinum on PS4 is unacceptable these days. That’s the kind of stuff Capcom does – don’t pull a Capcom.

  • Unfortunately each platform has different rules about what we can and cannot do in regards to trophies/achievements. We would have loved to include a Platinum trophy but unfortunately it was not available to us. However all platforms have the full 73 medals to unlock, just that on some platforms all of the medals are also linked to that platforms achievement system.

On PlayStation all 73 medals are there and a subset of them are linked to Trophies.
