The First 5 Minutes of The Walking Dead: Michonne on PS4, PS3

It’s been some time since we last left off with The Walking Dead series at Telltale in the summer of 2014. Since then, we’ve been hard at work with Robert Kirkman and the team at Skybound Entertainment in fleshing out some very big ideas for where to take things next.

The first two seasons of our series followed the stories of Lee Everett, Clementine, and Kenny — focusing on these predominately original characters from Telltale, along with appearances from characters like Glenn and Hershel. Beyond that, we haven’t truly taken the opportunity to explore some of our favorite characters from the comics in rich detail… until now.

The First 5 Minutes of The Walking Dead: Michonne on PS4, PS3

Among all of the iconic characters in Robert Kirkman’s universe, Michonne has been a fan favorite here at the studio. Without spoiling the story of the frankly incredible comics, there comes a point in time where she leaves Rick and her group of survivors to explore some of her inner demons on her own. Where she goes and what stories unfold during this time away have always been largely a mystery in the storyline. But this miniseries on PS4 and PS3 presents the perfect opportunity for us to take the reins.

Playing as Michonne makes for a signature Telltale experience. Deeply haunted by some of the decisions of her past, Michonne was the mother of two children when she was making headway in her career as a lawyer. With priorities shifting away from her family during the devastating outbreak, she is forever regretful of her inability to be there to save her family. In the extended preview video, we step into the shoes and the mind of Michonne for the first time, as today we are revealing the first look at the miniseries’ prologue.

Writing and designing for a complex and powerful character like Michonne has been a dream for the studio, and we’re incredibly excited for everyone to play this miniseries when it premieres for download on February 23rd!

The second episode will follow in March, and conclude in April not long afterward. While we highly recommend reading the comics, and of course, playing previous seasons of our series, prior knowledge or save files are not necessary, and the miniseries will be available as a stand-alone product. So whether you’re a longtime fan, or new to this series, Michonne is a great place to start!

Beyond the miniseries, we’re also very hard at work on a full third season of The Walking Dead. We don’t expect to have any details until sometime after this miniseries concludes, but given what’s planned for the future, we don’t think you’ll want to miss this story before what’s to come.

It’s looking to be a very big year of the undead at Telltale! Thanks for reading, and as always, let us know if you have any questions in the comments!

  • Please bring this and season 3 to Vita!!

  • Where are the Vita versions of Borderlands, Game of Thrones, and Minecraft? Either cancel them, or release them.

    • Don’t worry – we’re big fans of Vita and we still have plans to bring our titles over to the platform. We thank you for your patience, but hang tight! We’re hoping to have an update soon.

    • Glad to hear you’re still doing Vita versions of stuff. I always buy anything I want on Vita day 1, full price especially if it gets a physical release. I have so much to play that I’ll usually wait a long time for a sale on anything that’s just PS4 or PC.

  • Im in agrement with both of you i have gladly bought a game multiple times due to the fact im a trophy hunter, they can make money off trophy hunters like myself and thise without a ps4 or ps3.

  • Hope this comes to Vita, along with your current slate of titles!

  • how much is this? and since its a miniseries, will it be included in my previous TWD season 1 or 2 season pass?

    • It’s $15 and no it isn’t included in the previous Season season passes what do you think this is? It’s not DLC like 400 Days it is a separate thing altogether.

  • What the heck is this dreck? Miniseries? Just make Season 3 and be done with it.

  • will this game have a platinum trophy

  • Wait, is that a machete in Michonne’s hand? What happened to her katana? I guess I’ll need to re-read Negan’s arc to remember what exactly happened to her at that time.

BTW, excellent job mixing past and present during the action scenes. Can’t wait for next week!

    • Thanks! And yes, that is a machete. In the flashback portions, you see her with her katana not long after she started using it. In the miniseries, she has just left Alexandria on a walkabout of sorts – and has left her katana behind. Through the present portions of the story, she’ll use a machete…. and it’s pretty badass! Can’t wait for you to play the premiere!

    • It was really bad from telltale of not having put on PS Vita . If there’s a good platform or the walking dead should be is on PS Vita ! please put it on PS Vita !! Please !

  • This better have a platinum trophy or i won’t be buying this … The Walking Dead Season 2 trophy list was disappointing :/

    • so you want a platinum trophy for doing nothing like season 1? you can also get an easy platinum from the hanna montana game, they say it takes 3 hours to get that one. Maybe you should try other games and get a platinum that doesn’t simply require to complete the game. There also some incredible games like Heavenly Sword or Silent Hill Homecoming that doesn’t have any trophies at all, maybe you should try to play a game because it’s a good game and not simply for an easy platinum

  • This kind of games are made and play better on a mobile Device so.,, Why not on vita ???

  • Since it says miniseries, will it be shorter than a season? like, 400 days lenght?

  • Can’t wait to play this!

  • I love Michonne but when it comes to The Walking Dead games…. I only care about CLEMENTINE, please let us continue her story this is killing me!!!!

    • yeah I wanted to know what happened to her too. It’s a little disappointment knowing that the next game is not about her. I hope she and the baby are ok

  • Hello Telltale,

I’ve got all your physical Vita games since their Day 1. Please continue to bring your games (Michonne, Borderlands, Game of Thrones, Minecraft) to PS Vita where it’s best to play.

    Thank you,

  • Another player putting in a hopeful request for a Vita version! The Vita I bought came with WD Season 1 bundled in, and I fell in love with it. Did Season 2 on Vita as well. Was happy to bring my save over, and the episodes are the perfect length for weekly flights I need to take for work. Would love to continue with this miniseries and Season 3 on Vita.

  • I love their games I’ve played them all. . . well i still need to get the minecraft one. But what upset a bunch of people about this game is that it doesn’t have a plat trophy. Mostly trophy hunters are upset telltale games have easy plats just play the game and poof plat trophy. Still a bunch of fans are hype mostly wishing it had a plat trophy. Me I’m okay with it ^-^

  • I do not understand why he is not on PS Vita . There are many season one and two above are really great and it’s really weird from telltale . This is unacceptable and I really hope he will put it on the PS Vita !
