PlayStation Vue Goes Nationwide, Starting at $29.99 in New Markets

Many of you have been patiently waiting for PlayStation Vue to come to your city, and today we’re pleased to announce that PlayStation Vue is making its nationwide debut. We’re expanding the service to the rest of the U.S. to give our fans a better way to watch popular live and on-demand TV from top networks like AMC, ESPN, Comedy Central, Cartoon Network, and more, using PlayStation Vue’s unique streaming features.

PlayStation Vue

We’re kicking off this launch with our new Slim multi-channel plans that are available in the 203 newly launched markets. Here are the prices for these new plans — all are offered with a free seven-day trial.

  • Access Slim: 55+ channels, including live cable TV, movies, and sports channels for $29.99 per month.
  • Core Slim: 70+ channels, including all the channels from Access Slim with the addition of national and regional sports networks for $34.99 per month.
  • Elite Slim: 100+ channels, featuring all the channels from Core Slim with the addition of more top movie and entertainment channels for $44.99 per month.

With an Internet connection and a PlayStation Vue TV-connected device, there are no hidden fees or long-term contracts for PlayStation Vue.

Some of you may be wondering, what’s the difference between Slim and our standard multi-channel plans available in previously launched cities (New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, Dallas, San Francisco, and Miami)? Slim plans are only available in the newly launched markets and will offer all of the same live cable channels as the standard PlayStation Vue plans. However, ABC, FOX and NBC will offer video-on-demand (VOD)-only content. This means you’ll be able to access top network content, including primetime shows, from the three broadcast networks. Most on-demand content will be available within 24 hours after airing. CBS live and on-demand programming will also be added to select cities at a later date.

We’re working to add local broadcast stations to your city, which will add live, local programing to the channel lineup. You can find more information on plans in your city here: www.psvue.com

Users can take advantage of PlayStation Vue’s unique TV streaming features, including the following:

  • Cloud DVR — PlayStation Vue’s unmatched cloud DVR allows users to record hundreds of shows at once and store thousands of hours of content.
  • Simultaneous Streaming — a single PlayStation Vue subscription allows users to simultaneously stream content across different devices.
  • Powerful Interface — this seamlessly blends live and on-demand content to put top programming front and center, with innovative search and discovery tools. You can also “catch up” on many popular programming within the past three days from a show’s first live airing.

PlayStation Vue

In addition, users can also access programming from more than 60 network mobile apps or websites, simply by logging in with their PlayStation Network ID. The mobile apps and websites are developed by network programmers and are a separate offering from PlayStation Vue, but can be used at no additional cost.

Users can access PlayStation Vue through PS4, PS3, Amazon Fire TV, and Fire TV Stick, as well as iPad and iPhone through the PlayStation Vue mobile app. Google Chromecast is also supported via compatible iOS devices.

We’re excited about this expansion, and can’t wait to share more news about our future plans for PlayStation Vue.

  • Please add CSPAN, PBS and HBO then it will be perfect.

    • Surprised HBO doesn’t offer HBO now on the PS4 (its 15 a month). As for PBS I just get that with good old fashion bunny ears with all my local channels. The Leaf 50 antenna works great on station up to 40 miles away. Combined with Playstation Vue I’m pretty set now.

  • Seems like just the service I’d be interested in, but with four TVs, I need a ROKU app. It’s a dealbraker.

Tell me you are working on porting to the ROKU platform, please.
    Steve

  • So when is the ETA on Android and other devices? Can’t use it on my Chromecast since all I have is Android phones and another let down that my Roku isn’t supported. Might just cancel my service until there is a stronger support for other devices.

  • was bummed to find out it isn’t available in Puerto Rico yet.

  • When will the local Atlanta Hawks and Braves not be blocked out on Fox Sports South? This was the only reason I signed up for Vue.

    • How are they blacked out? If they are your local teams, I don’t see why they would be blacked out. It makes me wonder if my Angels will be blacked out on FSW. They aren’t on cable or Sat. I will start my free preview April 3rd and see for myself.

  • Cancelled DirectTV today… Got my PS3 out. now my PS3 and PS4 are running Vue.
    Best part, no Contract!!!

  • GREAT! A day after I upgraded from Access Slim to Core Slim to get the YES Network which was advertised ALL WEEK in my area got PULLED! I was able to stream in my bedroom as that one was setup right away and still CAN THANK GOD but when I go to my living room TV it only shows that I have recently viewed it! Both are amazon fire sticks. I can click on it but it never starts streaming! I called into support talked to the tech and after 45 minutes he said he was sorry. Hopefully this is only a temporary and it will reappear as quickly as it LEFT

Was a VERY HAPPY CUSTOMER not so HAPPY NOW :-(

  • Absolutely love this service. I almost wasn’t going to do it though because there is no roku app. We are a roku and android family and we use to have sling. Ps vue is a far better service and that is why i broke down and bought a amazon fire tv box just so that i can use this service. Pease please please get this service on the roku so i don’t have to go out and replace all five devices to the Amazon box. Nothing wrong with the box, but i just bought all these rokus and really dont want to have to shell out another 500 dollars to replace them. My family and i love our rokus. I know i am just one guy, but hopefully you hear me. Thank you guys for bringing another great product to market. It gives us cable cutters another great option for tv and allows us to give the cable company one big middle finger. It isn’t about saving money with me, but more so about the options and the freedom to choose what i feel works for my family. Now if only you provide an Internet service.

    • I cannot imagine that they are not working on a Roku app right now. That or they are just in cahoots with Amazon for a little bit as HBO Now was with Apple TV but eventually went to all devices.

  • Trying it out through the trial – $30 for all of the main channels is pretty great although I’m sure that will just be a promo price for a year.

I love the ability to add favorite shows and it automatically records all the live airings and then most shows have at least a few episodes available through ‘On Demand.’ Clean HD picture. No cable box rental…

Just one thing – how have they not acquired History? Just missing that for Vikings.

I’ll officially sign up when I cease to get most cable channels for free through an error.

  • I’ve had vue for about three weeks now; was working great up until 3 days ago; it is impossible to watch anything on dvr or catch up. It skips forward, backward, loops the same segment three or four times. My wife was reluctant to give up cable (optimum) at first but then got used to vue’s interface. Again it was great up until three days ago. We have the ultra 50 package and the problems occur on both the ps4 wired and Amazon fire stick wireless. PlayStation 4 reports 45-50 Mbps so there’s no issue with a slow connection.

I hope this issue doesn’t continue because we are going to have to go back to optimum which is my only choice for my area in Brooklyn.

Also I need Univision; we need more Spanish channels please!

If our dvr issue gets fixed this would make the service near perfect (not perfect until they get Univision).

  • I have to add another: needs android support. I am very interested, but without android support, I can only use one tv… Unless there’s another way to connect to chromecast?

  • is this coming to Puerto Rico?? I tried to sign up, and it says my zip code is not a valid US zip code, which is BS!!

  • In theory this is great news but tried the free trial tonight and met with a lot of problems….it kept wanting to set my ip address in San Francisco when I’m over 3000 miles away from California, called tech support and informed them then they told me that it must be my internet providers fault so had to call them and was told nope the fault isn’t on mine or my providers end so PS I think you have some bugs to work out,it’s a shame too,was looking forward to using PS Vue but not too sure now.

  • Please make an Apple TV app. I don’t wanna have to turn on my PS4 just to watch vie when I watch everything else on Apple TV

  • I want to use this but I can’t stream it from my PC and windows tablet without spending more money to buy amazon fire t.v and such. Guess I’ll stick with my regular cable til it adds PC streaming like time Warner Cable.

  • If you add Roku as one of your supported devices, I will switch to your service. I’ve tried Sling TV, but can’t get it to work in my time zone, and it’s always on adult swim, when my son is usually watching kid friendly shows at that time in the afternoon. Please add Roku support, from what I can see, your service looks solid! I’ve tried streaming on the PS4, with MLB.TV but it’s really choppy. MLB works fine on Roku, so all I need is PlayStation Vue on Roku and I’ll be happy. Thanks.

  • EL REY NETWORK and BBCA please

  • What a joke Vue is. First, the order form doesn’t work. It keeps saying “Please enter a valid credit card number” even though it’s valid. After some searching, I found out that you have to put the house number on Address Line 1, and the street name on Line 2. How absurd is that?

Then we tried to watch on an iPhone, which is listed as a supported device type. But it turns out that you can’t do that until you first set up a profile on a PlayStation or Fire TV device. We don’t have either. Nowhere in the FAQs or anywhere is it clear that you can’t use one supported device type without first setting the service up on another. We do have a Roku, but of course Sony doesn’t have an app for that…even though it’s an incredibly popular device.

So I would have gladly spent $30 or more each month, but I won’t now.

I’m baffled as to how a huge company like this can make such amateur mistakes. First the repeated hacks, and now things like this. What do you gain by having people waste time on your service, only to find out that it won’t work because of a critical piece of information that you left out?

  • I am having the same problem as other iOS users..

iPhone / iPad, which is listed as supported devices are only supported if you sign up with PS3 or P4…….some state that the Amazon Fire TV / Amazon Fire Stick work for sign up but I don’t want to spend money hoping that it works and that I like it. Really a shame that this is how a major rollout for a world full of iOS users who are looking for good options for TV.

I am very frustrated by the deceptive advertising used. I was all on board to switch over, then all of this is uncovered. If you have a PS3 or PS4 sounds great. I don’t and I don’t intend to gamble that by buying one I will like Vue TV…..

  • Just signed up for the trial. Has most things I wanted except the History Channel. Anyone know when or if that will happen? Also what about local news stations? Will they ever offer them? Other than that I do believe I’m dropping Directv and that $130 a month bill.

  • i like it, but when will it be available in WI? i got a MN zip code when i signed up for it, but i’d like to be to change it to my WI zip code so i can watch the milwaukee brewers play

  • Will you please allow nationwide access to purchase the SLIM tiers, regardless of whether the standard tiers are available or not. Some people don’t care about local channels, especially if they have an OTA Antenna or just don’t watch them and want to save $10 a month. The slim prices are right but I do not want to pay more just because we’re in a bigger market, please make the SLIM tiers available to EVERYONE!

  • Signed up for the free trial today, the Core Slim package. Was supposed to get a regional sports network, but don’t get any. Probably won’t renew.

  • Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like you can watch network TV realtime. Also, there’s no locals. If the Vue app were available on the Roamio OTA, that would be a perfect match. To me, it would be the best of both worlds.

P.S. Please add the Hallmark Channel.

  • To say the Slim packages are the same aside from local is not fully accurate.
We did the trial of Elite Slim anticipating YES network would be included- it’s not. If it were we’d be keeping Vue and ditching cable asap. But not without that.
Any suggestions? I’d love to stop giving Time Warner Cable my money!
