Day of the Tentacle Remastered Launches Today on PS4, PS Vita

James Spafford's Avatar Posted by on Mar 22, 2016 // Community Manager, Double Fine Productions

Day of the Tentacle first hit store shelves back in 1993. We’re excited that — 23 years later — Dr. Fred’s Mutant Purple Tentacle is once again poised to take on the world!

We’re hopeful that our remastered version of this classic LucasArts point and click puzzle adventure game will delight fans new and old; with high resolution artwork and high quality audio complementing the celebrated dialogue and clever puzzles that made Day of the Tentacle an instant classic back in the day.

To celebrate launch day we put together a little making-of featurette that follows the development of the game here at Double Fine. You’ll see the lengths we went to when making sure the remaster was recreated as faithfully as possible.

Whether you are a long-time fan or you’ve never played it before, we hope you enjoy playing Day of the Tentacle Remastered!

That would be great. Full Throttle may be my favorite of the LucasArts adventure games, though that’s kind of hard to say since they are mostly all pretty dang good. Full Throttle has my favorite story though.

Just wondering if the Maniac Mansion Easter egg is still present in the PS4 version. Used to love playing it on NES. Never tried DotT but will grab it soon.

You can still play Maniac Mansion in Day of the Tentacle on PS4 and Vita. ;)

How about instead of waiting time on all these stupid remasters Sony should work on updating their store in a timely manner. If you say something is going to be available at a certain then you should stick to your word.

Wait, you call this a stupid remaster while complaining about its availability?
And if after all these year you do not understand the PS Store update times, then is it really Sony’s fault?

I pre-loaded this game from Sunday on both my Vita and PS4 and had access from midnight. It was available long ago.

Jaxx woke up mad, impatient, confused, that he had to post twice. These trolls are the worst.

Back on topic- this is an awesome remaster & the reviews are very positive!

    In for the Vita version.

How bout adding the fallout dlc. You’re upsetting a lot of people.

    That’s what I’m saying

Those “upset” people never met the Tentacle in this epic adventure.

Know your devs & publishers, Micro; inquire about Fallout @ the Beth’s forums.

Take the qualms with the Fallout 4 DLC somewhere else. It is disrespectful to take up that issue in this blog post about DOTT.

Absolutely loved this game as a kid and have been itching to play it again for the past 18 years. People who know me know that I have been talking about this game every year since I last played it and have been dying to play it again. I was probably the only one at the first PSX who shouted for joy when the remaster was announced. In fact, when Tim Schafer got on stage I chanted, “Day of the Tentacle remaster, please!” over and over and then, poof! It was announced. :p

I started playing as soon as it went live at 12:00 am since I pre-loaded both on Vita and PS4. It’s just as great as I remembered it. Thanks for bringing this game back! :D

You couldn’t have shouted Psychonauts remastered? Oh well, maybe they’ll bundle that with Psychonauts 2.

Awesome game! It’s such a twisted story, the remastered version is even more twisted with a Jar Jar Binks portrait in it.

Great news that Full Throttle is also coming. This to me was the highlight of gaming, the old LucasArt adventures.

Any chance for the Indiana Jones?

I personally have no problems at all with developers remastering old video games. If it was a great game to begin with and this will introduce it to a new faction of people who would otherwise never heard of it or tried it out, that is a good thing.

I would love this game on both my vita and my ps4. Do you have to pay 15 bucks twice to get it on both? Or if you purchase it on one, you get it on the other? This game is amazing, I cant wait to play it!!!!
