Okay! We’re one week from the big show, so I suppose I should reveal what we’ve been working on for the past few months.
live.playstation.com will be the premier destination for all PlayStation video coming out of E3 2016. That includes our PlayStation E3 2016 Press Conference and our three-day PlayStation LiveCast show featuring live demos, interviews, and demos of more than 60 upcoming PS4 and PlayStation VR titles. There will be LOTS to watch: More than 18 hours of original, live video content, in fact.
A cool detail about live.playstation.com is that it will offer up some digital goodies for those who sign in with their PSN IDs starting June 14. Watch the video below to get a quick look.
As far as programming hours go, here’s what’s in store:
Monday, June 13 | PlayStation E3 2016 Press Conference | 5:30pm Pacific Time
Tuesday, June 14 | PlayStation LiveCast show | 12:00pm to 6:00pm Pacific Time
Wednesday, June 15 | PlayStation LiveCast show | 10:00am to 5:30pm Pacific Time
Thursday, June 16 | PlayStation LiveCast show | 10:00am to 3:00pm Pacific Time
So to be clear, there are a ton of ways to experience PlayStation at E3:
- live.playstation.com (unlock rewards, compatible with desktop or mobile)
- YouTube
- Twitch
- The Live Events Viewer app on PS4 and PS3
- Our PS4 community Event (RSVP for a reminder!)
- At our PlayStation E3 Experience in 85 cinemas across North America
Not bad, right? Now, if you’re actually physically going to E3, I thought it might be helpful to reveal some of the playable games at the PlayStation booth in the West Hall of the L.A. Convention Center.

I got my tickets as well, and slowly counting down the days until the conference. I also noticed that the event is sold out too, which means we’ll be in for a great crowd.

Why cant you guys get the live.playstation to work on the ps4?
Im still amazed Sony hasnt made an app on the ps4 that they use for every E3 (including the JP and EU gaming confrences) and PS Experience you guys do.
Just would make so much sense to have a dedicated space that is always used for these things. But i guess that would make too much sense for Sony lol
+ Sid Shuman on June 6th, 2016 at 10:40 am said:
It’s something we are looking into for sure. In the meantime, live.playstatiion.com works well on the PS4 web browser.
+ Fuhr31 on June 6th, 2016 at 4:25 pm said:
I’m with you mixedkidbx, it’s baffling but not surprising.
Sony misses so many opportunities to take advantage of their own products. Most Sony products aren’t compatible with one another. Then you have all the different divisions that work in silos instead of using their many advantages.
+ Astroking112 on June 6th, 2016 at 5:52 pm said:
They should construct an “Event Viewer” app and set Events via the PS4’s Event functionality for us. Once PlayStation VR releases, they could even build in functionality to add it as a viewing option.
+ Joshua-Kun on June 6th, 2016 at 8:49 pm said:
Can’t you use the live events viewer and just “pre-order” the conference and the livecasts? It’s worked fine before.

Looking forward to some cool Vita announcements. Starting to look a bit slim in terms of upcoming retail games so I’m hoping Sony will swoop in and rejuvenate it. Maybe a hardware revision too.
+ PanTheMan16 on June 7th, 2016 at 2:43 am said:
Sony officially discontinued first-party support a long time ago. It’s a fun platform, but it didn’t sell well, despite all the big games it was getting early on. Not Sony’s fault. I wish people would understand this so the rest of us wouldn’t have to listen to these complaints for the rest of our lives. Sony is never, ever going to do anything for the Vita, but you’ll continue to see third-party support.
Once again, it is not Sony’s fault. They really tried, but most PlayStation fans prefer(red) consoles. To date, PS Vita has sold 2.5 million units in North America. Compare that to 19 million for 3DS. PS4 is less than half as old and has sold 15 million here.
If you need to place blame, then blame those who didn’t buy one.
+ dailydryerase on June 10th, 2016 at 7:47 pm said:
The vita is a great system. I got mine in dec 2015. I hope what steam that’s left in the vitas life is strong. Would love to see it last another year on 3rd party content and see popularity grow to entice AAA again. Might not happen this way but I will say that the Vita is a highly underrated console worthy of it is price. It needs more love. I hope there’s more in store:)
+ medallica247 on June 13th, 2016 at 8:51 am said:
Sony is fully to blame for the failure of the Vita. They didn’t market it properly. It was marketed as a portable PS3 that had cross buy functionality for basically all games. They advertised that you could play it online while on the go. They were sued for how they advertised and lost because they did mess up. They also released it well before the PS4 when it was built to interface with the PS4. They should have released them closer together or at the same time. By the time the PS4 came out Sony was already abandoning Vita Island. They never put a lot of support behind the system and relied too much on trying to make it like a tablet with the touch screens. They could have kept the price low by eliminating the touch screens and marketed it correctly and it would have sold. But they messed up and now people want to blame the fans for not rushing out to buy a device that Sony wasn’t ever even fully behind. Place the blame where it belongs, on the company that botched its design, its release date and its marketing, not the fans.
+ PanTheMan16 on June 15th, 2016 at 2:51 pm said:
Not accurate at all. The only things inherently “wrong” with the design are the screen resolution and the proprietary memory cards. Any other complaints would be too few to make an impact.
It’s a handheld. People understand it’s a handheld. It received a good handful of AAA exclusives, but it still didn’t sell. The 3DS was too well-established and “hardcore gamers”, in general, have very little interest in handhelds. Not to mention that Xbox gamers were largely too biased to touch a Sony device.
The only thing Sony did wrong was believe that the handheld crowd would opt for this powerful mini-console. If it had a strong library of first-party games, it would be almost everything that almost every handheld fan could want.

I found that the registration site doesn’t work for the first 10 minutes then it steadies out. I kept trying right when it went live and kept giving me errors until about 15 minutes after and I was able to get tickets for all my friends.

Hi Sid,
It’s so great to have live.playstation.com online this year,
even more there are some digital goodies to grab.
But sadly it’s only limited to PSN ID registered in United States,
like last year’s guidebook unlock of PlayStation Experience 2015.
Is it possible to get goodies unlocked, with Europe and Asia account in the future :D?

Last year in Albuquerque, New Mexico the audio went out during the Playstation E3 Experience in the theater so the audience had to pull out their phones and listen to the audio streaming from YouTube while we watched the rest of the broadcast on the movie screen. Never realized how quiet a theater is without sound.

Once the PlayStation VR is released, maybe consider installing 360 view camera for live streaming for future conferences. It would bring a huge immersive of watching the E3 conference within the audience right next to someone rather than looking at the TV screen at home.
