PlayStation Now Coming to PC, DualShock 4 USB Wireless Adaptor Unveiled

We’re excited to announce that PlayStation Now is making the jump to Windows PC. The app launches overseas in parts of Europe soon and will come to North America shortly thereafter.

This will bring a wide selection of PlayStation exclusive titles to Windows PC for the very first time, including entries in the Uncharted, God of War, and Ratchet & Clank franchises, as well as beloved PS3 games like The Last of Us and Journey. Current subscribers have a new way to access PS Now’s library of over 400 games, and the PC app provides a new way for even more gamers to discover and play the service.

We’re also introducing a new device, the DualShock 4 USB Wireless Adaptor, which launches in early September for a suggested retail price of $24.99 ($29.99 CAD). This adaptor will let you connect a DualShock 4 to PC and Mac wirelessly, and will enable every feature of the controller you know and love: buttons, analog sticks, touch pad, light bar, motion sensors, vibration, and stereo headset jack – as long as the gaming application supports these features.

The adaptor is a great match for playing PS Now on a computer, but you can also use it for PS4 Remote Play on PC and Mac. If you haven’t yet downloaded Remote Play on your PC or Mac, grab the installer here. Of course, owning the USB Wireless Adaptor isn’t required, as you can connect a DualShock 4 using a USB cable.

Here are the recommended specs for running PS Now on your PC:

  • Windows 7 (SP1), 8.1 or 10
  • 3.5 GHz Intel Core i3 or 3.8 GHz AMD A10 or faster
  • 300 MB or more; 2 GB or more of RAM
  • Sound card; USB port

A minimum 5Mbps connection is required to use PS Now on any device. We recommend a wired Internet connection for the optimal experience.
We’ll be in touch to confirm the exact launch date of the PlayStation Now Windows PC app in North America, and stay tuned for some exciting games that will be added to the library.

  • Why is there no Windows 7 PS4 Remote Play version? Will there ever be one? And what about PS Now, no support for Win 7 either? Windows 7 is still being used by the majority.

  • Ive been reading the comments and so many people are being trash if you dont like it dont buy it if you do go ahead and if you bring that “xbox usb can support up to 8″oh playstation isnt xbox so if you think xbox is better why are you here

  • There is mention of enabling the headphone port. Does this include opening up Party/Mic support via remote play?

  • can you use a PS3 Controller with the USB Adapter

  • You know, if PlayStation Now were actually selling games I’d be all over this.

If it were letting you play your existing PS3 digital purchases locally on a PC without a subscription I’d be sending my profuse thanks for giving me a replacement for my dead A01 PS3.

As it stands this doesn’t interest me any more than hearing it would be on my Vita.

My PS3 died, I owned (some digital, some physical) all the games I want to play again, and I didn’t buy a PS4 since everything worth playing save possibly Horizon: Zero Dawn (won’t know until I have a chance to play my friend’s copy after launch) and inFamous also came out on PC.

Selling me PlayStation games on the PC would definitely be something I’d be interested in, having me suck up a ton of bandwidth and pay a subscription fee to play games I already own just isn’t something I’m going to be spending money on.

At least I could see it working on the PC, what with gigs upon gigs of storage, the Vita with its tiny 64GB maximum storage doesn’t even have the potential to do this right when I can’t even keep all my actual Vita games on the thing.

  • Will it come to Europe and if yes when will it come

  • I was trying to find an answer to a very important (at least to me) question here, but I see more “I have bluetooth adapter why wont sony release x drivers?”

To save myself a headache (as I would think many of us would want to avoid, just plug and play, right?), I currently use a Xbox Controller with the PC adapter (Booo!). No need to go through the circus that is DS4Windows. This Sony Adapter seems like the end all solution to using my preferred controller (yaay!), right?

BUT, I have a couple of questions to throw Sony’s way:

The PS Adapter should work “as long as the gaming application supports these features”, but I think that doesnt directly answer the question. Let’s put the fancy doohickeys aside (lightbar, TouchPad, sensors), and just ask: Will it just work with the games? Can we just plug this in, pair controller, fire up game, and BAM, no need to mess with any scientific transmogrifications to get it to work in say, Fallout 4?

  • It is great that the PlayStation DualShock 4 USB Wireless Adopter is coming to PC, but I am a little bit confused about the release date; I have seen it on Amazon, Best Buy, and GameStop saying it is releasing on 9/19/2016 but Newegg on 9/6/2016, which one is the official release date?

  • Surely you are going to release a version for Windows 7 users??!!

  • The future of consoles is PC !!

  • Will the adapter work on a Sony Smart TV?

  • I haven’t seen this asked yet:

Does this allow the PS4 controller to be used on PC games as well? I currently use a Logitech F310 and would love to ditch it for a wireless PS4 controller, but I need to make sure I can still play all the same games.

  • So can this adapter enable one to use the PS4 controller on Steam games?

  • No, you can´t use the adaptor for steam or other games, as the adaptor only supplies an interface for Playstation Now and Remote Play.

I´ve got it myself, and it was a bad surprise that I couldn´t play normal PC Games with it, as an normal USB Bluetooth stick would cause too much lag for me!

  • Its mentioned that you can use the full features of the DS4 controller, including the stereo jack. I cant get party chat to recognize the microphone. How do I get it to work?

  • Can you connect multiple controllers simultaneously using one adaptor?

  • Can the controller adapter be used on Smart TV’s that have PlayStation Now.

  • Just got one from Amazon. Apparently “as long as the gaming application supports these features” means that it only works with PSNow and Remote Play. Although the controller shows up in Windows as a working joystick, no PC games will be able to use it. You’re better off sticking to a USB cable or Bluetooth+DS4Windows.

  • I’ve just received my PS4 wireless adaptor but I can’t get it to work/pair with my DS4. In Device Manager it’s being seen as a USB Audio Device . I’ve installed PSNow but no joy. Is there a driver somewhere I should be installing? I plugged the controller via USB, no luck with that. Currently using Windows 10 with the latest update.
