UPDATE: Everybody’s Golf Coming to PS4 on August 29

The iconic gameplay, character customization, and charm of the Hot Shots Golf series returns.

Update: Online servers for Everybody’s Golf will shut down on September 30, 2022. All online features (including online multiplayer modes) will cease on that date. You will still be able to play and enjoy the game in single-player modes.

What type of golfer are you? A casual weekend golfer? A semi-pro? Maybe you’re one of those golfers who spends more time picking out your outfit than you spend practicing your swing? Or maybe you’re not a golfer at all, but you’ve been playing Hot Shots Golf for years!

    is this a Digital Only Game or is there a Physical copy as well?

      It looks like there will be a physical release. If you go to the game page it gives a link for digital pre order and disc pre order. Currently there are no retailers listed but they only announced this an hour ago. Europe is getting physical confirmed.

      North America is basically the only territory where it’s Hot Shots Golf. There’s no point in having different names in different markets.

      Literally like asking why Final Fantasy 6 isn’t still called Final Fantasy 3.

    I had no idea I wanted a golf game to have an open world and other non-golf activities like racing and fishing, but this looks like a blast! If it is an open environment, how many courses are there? Are they all joined together in one large map or are there different “regions” you load into?

    Love that price, too :-)

    I know everyone is loving the price point, but let’s pause here. I think that the game will be short on courses and then released as DLC at $5 a course. There will be a full game released probably in 2018 with all DLC listed at $60. I love HSG and hope this just isn’t true.

      That price point is kind of surprising to me too. But I hope, that by selling this game for $40 initially, and then selling all the other DLC for around $20, you MIGHT get a full game for around the price of $60 like you would for other games.

    Can we get more info on the single player content?

    I wish we got something like the story mode that Hot Shot Tennis on PSP had. That was the greatest single player content sports game I´ve played (excl. Crash Team Racing).

    I could not be more thrilled that this is finally happening. My father, brother, and myself have been playing this series against each other for probably around 15 years now, ever since Hot Shots 3. Now they’re both moving away, but we can still play this online with each other. :)

    Why is the game not called “Hot Shots Golf”? I know that everywhere else in the world it’s called Everybody’s Golf (or Minna no Golfu) but why make the change now?

      I guess Sony wanted their own franchise to do a real Final Fantasy I, IV, VI regional confusing naming screwup and it looks like we have it with this lol.
      Not sure what was wrong with Hot Shots Golf 8 or Everybody’s Golf 8 for US and EU respectively. This could actually hurt sales in the US too. What if some people not in the know saw this in a store and thought it was a cheap ripoff of Hot Shots Golf and so ignored it?

      Well, for one thing, you may be underestimating people — savvy PS gamers are pretty well plugged into the info well and will know the name, and casual gamers (who make up a portion of the market Hot Shots/EG targets) either won’t know or remember the old name or will see the Sony logo on the box and have a good enough guess that they’ll get what they want.

      But also, it’s coming on 10 years since the last console Hot Shots/Everybody’s Golf game, and over five years since any entry in the line-up. There’s a whole slew of gamers who never played a Hot Shots, a percentage of whom never even owned a PlayStation before PS4! Us old-timers are only a part of the market now. Whether they call it Hot Shots or Everybody’s, Sony’s big job is to convince gamers to buy the first golf game of this style on PS4.

    This is definitely the best golf game out since Tiger Wiods golfing game is no more. I didn’t see this coming it’s so fun to play.

    This is so bizarre. So because of the US getting a “Everybody’s Golf” title for the first time, that is the name you are going with??? “Everybody’s Golf” was already a launch title on Vita. The orignal game on PS1 was also called that in Europe. Could you not call it Everybody’s Golf 8 or something with a subtitle in Europe?

    This is going to mess up search engines or when you go to the PS Store to look up DLC for “Everybody’s Golf which is now the same name of THREE games in Europe. Its quite a marketing screwup and I don’t know how you managed to pull it off.

    Still can’t believe we all don’t have to wait 6 months or a year after Japan to play it though, that’s great news. :)

      Have to agree with @andrewsqual: this name change definitely makes it sound like a cheap Hot Shots knockoff. As a fan, I’m still 100% excited, but most people that are not “in the know” are probably going to take a pass on something with this name.

    Oh my goodness!! I’ve been playing hot shots since the PlayStation 1 days!! I’ve been waiting so long after this has been pushed back a few times. I have loved seeing the game play coming from Tokyo game show. I cannot wait!! I hope there is a way to submit a possibility to be a part of the test play in May!!

    The character models look terrible compared to previous games, and I want nothing to do with fishing, swimming, loot searching, and giant open world nonsense in my Hot Shots games. Please tell me you didn’t completely ruin everything I love about these games. I was so looking forward to this.

    Super-excited for this! I’ve been a fan of the series since the beginning. Hard to believe that it’s been 20 years!

    I have to admit that I’m also curious as to why the series is changing its North American name now. Hot Shots is pretty much what we’ve become accustomed to here in the US. Weird to change it now, given that you’re honoring the 20th anniversary of the series in this release. Maybe we’ll find out down the road…

    Looking forward to more info as August draws closer.

    I’m so excited to her this! HSG is one of my favorite Vita games, I can’t wait to have it up on the big screen! The new modes sound cool, and that price is incredible. August 29 can’t come soon enough!

    Daaaaaaang, wasn’t expecting this! Hot Shots Golf: World Invitational for vita was my first Hots Shots Golf game, and interestingly enough, also one of my favorite vita games. Is there ANY chance you guys would consider making another entry to the series for vita? I’ll probably end up picking this up, but if it released for vita…that’d be just great : )

    Cool. You’re unifying the names across regions finally. I’m down with bidding farewell to the “Hot Shots” name :) This entry looks super promising and I am really looking forward to getting in on this when it hits PS4. I’ll probably pre-order but not right now; bought enough stuff this month and have Dragon Quest Heroes 2 on pre-order atm anyway… besides, I got all Summer to preorder. Just super happy to see this coming up, honestly – the bright skies, the fun presentation, the vibrant colors; it just looks fun :D

    It’s unfortunate we’ll probably never see a never handheld Hot Shots… I love playing these games on the go.

    Why did you drop the NA name of “Hot Shots” Golf? I preferred it.

    But anyway, I agree with the person who said the art design of the characters is vastly inferior to previous entries. Particularly World Invitational.

    Hot Shots Tennis please.

    Been waiting for a PS4 Tennis game for a few years.

    There already like 10+ Golf games on PS4.

    Top Spin 4 was 2011. 5 is not happening with 2K Czech Shutdown.

    EA Sports GS2 2012

    VT4 which was 2011.

    Tennis fans have been waiting long time.

    I already picked up Hot Shots Tennis PS2 HD remaster…….want a real next gen Tennis Experience.

    I’ve been playing and enjoying these games since the first one! Thank you Sony, Japan Studio and Clap Hanz for such fun games. You guys have a gift for making sports games that are just fun and simple. I would love to see another tennis game, but also I think you should expand and make a bowling, soccer, or something else! I was waiting for this announcement and I’m off to preorder this! Can’t wait to play it!!

    I hope they bring back the caddie named “Mel” from Hot Shots Golf 3. His quotes were classic – “Need more sauce on that chicken”, “I’ll be ding dong darned” and “Birds are chirping!” were some of my favourite lines from him.

    About time I have been searching for info on this game almost every day. I started playing golf with Links 2001 and was very hardcore with links 2001, 2003 and shot online. Been trying to find something to play since. Played golf stars, winning putt, The golf club, pangya, etc etc…I will definitely be pre odrering this.
