Designed from the ground up, the lounge will be located on the upper level of the EB Games’ downtown location at 267 Yonge Street in Toronto, Ontario. The goal of the PlayStation Lounge is to provide you with a one-stop shop for all your PlayStation needs.

Another year, another reason to celebrate here in Canada, and another PlayStation Holiday Event! We had such a tremendous response last year that we couldn’t for one second forget about you. I’d like to invite each and every Canadian PlayStation fan out again this year.

Right around the corner now, our Holiday Event will be taking place on October 12 from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. at the Liberty Grand in “The Artifacts Room” in Toronto.

Hey Canadians, have you ever wondered what it’d be like to follow in the footsteps of Nathan Drake? Well now’s your chance to join an action-packed treasure hunt through the Arabian Desert inspired by UNCHARTED 3: Drake’s Deception! PlayStation Canada would like to offer one lucky winner and a guest the opportunity to become real-life treasure hunters.

Taking place in the dramatic backdrops featured in UNCHARTED 3, our Canadian winner will be competing against adventurers from across Europe, the Middle East and Australasia to win the title of UNCHARTED Treasure Hunter, with $10,000 worth of prizes to be won along the way. The action-packed quest will take place in the Arabian Desert, following in the footsteps of Nathan Drake as he picks up the trail of Sir Francis Drake and T.E. Lawrence (Lawrence of Arabia).

Starting from an outfitted UNCHARTED 3 base camp, a traditional Bedouin settlement in Wadi Rum, competitors will trek across the sand dunes of Aqaba on a quest to uncover hidden treasure. Travelling by jeep, by camel and on foot, the fortune hunters will follow a series of clues to uncover hidden artifacts, picking up treasure along the way that they can later exchange for prizes. Contestants will climb up to the Al Shallaleh waterfall, pass the Khazali Canyon, and stop off at T.E. Lawrence’s house, facing a different challenge at every turn.

All puzzles and challenges have been created by adventurer and survival expert, John Sullivan (don’t call him Sully!), whose experience has made him an invaluable adviser on many expeditions worldwide in some of the most inaccessible corners of the globe. The activity will reflect the type of challenges that Nathan Drake experiences in UNCHARTED 3: Drake’s Deception, solving clues and deciphering puzzles in search of the grand prize. With $10,000 worth of prizes at stake, John will be an independent adjudicator, ensuring that the competition is judged fairly, and guaranteeing the most skilled adventurer walks away with the gold!

The lines for GT5 and Killzone 3, they were daunting, but you didn’t waver. Impressive. Some of you even wore your PlayStation sunglasses inside. How very Corey Hart of you. We also had a few celebrity appearances. Sackboy made his premiere that night, to the delight of many LittleBigPlanet fans. He even pulled out a few dance moves with a fellow Canadian. The security was also stellar, with Helghast soldiers securing the perimeter on an hourly rotation.

Heck some of you may even be mini-celebrities now (at least B-list) with the media we attracted that day. While you were busy demoing games, Citytv Toronto had us on the six o’clock news, along with CHCH Hamilton and Global TV Toronto and Vancouver.

Since you’ve tried your skill at a number of games coming out this holiday season and early 2011, what’s on your holiday wish list? I can’t believe I’ve said holiday four times now…it’s still October!

To get started simply look for the Netflix icon under the video icon in your XMB (cross media bar).

For all our friends in the US and current Netflix members, you’ll have to continue using the instant streaming disc for your PS3 system until the Netflix application icon becomes available for you in October.

Yes, unbelievably, it’s that time of year again and we are rapidly approaching what many PlayStation fans look forward to all year: the PlayStation Holiday Preview Event party!

This year’s event will take place on October 5 from 5pm to 9pm at the brand-new Sony Centre in downtown Toronto (formerly the old Hummingbird Centre). We’ll be the second event to open up the centre, and everyone is welcome.

What titles are you looking forward to playing? Killzone 3? Gran Turismo 5? SOCOM 4? What about LittleBigPlanet 2? Have a few titles in mind that aren’t first party? That works too, because we are giving you, our fans, exclusive access to all the hottest titles before they hit the retail shelves this holiday season.

Partying at our own ‘centre’ is great, but it wouldn’t be a party without some third party developers. Activision, Disney, Konami, EA, Namco, Ubisoft, Warner and many more will be on board to show you what games they’ve got up their sleeves.

While we can’t guarantee a Kevin Butler appearance like we had at E3, we will provide you with hands-on time with all your favourite titles, live DJs spinning, and delicious food. Because everyone knows that the way to a gamer’s heart is through the games they play and the food they eat!

October may not be cold enough for toques and mittens, but what you can bring are your friends, family members, and frenemies if you like. So if you’re not too busy on a Tuesday evening, come down to the Sony Centre and find out what we’re up to this year.
