Metal Gear Solid and PlayStation are two brands that have been bound for greatness since the beginning. And isn’t it fitting that, in the wake of the eighth Metal Gear game to grace PlayStation, we’ve decided to go back to the start, in a big, big way.
Metal Gear Solid is not only an amazing PlayStation title, it’s one of the most quintessential video game experiences in the medium’s history. It’s been in the Smithsonian, graced the pages of the Guinness Book of World Records, and made almost every video game journalist’s top list of must-play games every year since its creation.
From the frozen Alaskan tundra to the jungles of Russia, the Metal Gear series has covered nearly every corner of the globe, with a story spanning over 50 years of history and four generations of consoles. And for the first time in series history, every core title will be available in a single box, starting July 9th,2013 on PS3.
Step into the shoes of the legendary Big Boss and infiltrate the lush forests of Costa Rica, recruit soldiers and construct your own Mother Base as you lay the groundwork for your band of Militaires Sans Frontières (Soldiers Without Borders).
Or work together with other players in special, four-player CO-OPS (Cooperative-OPerationS), and six-player competitive matches using the PS Vita’s Ad Hoc capabilities in this title originally released for the PSP in April 2010.
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is, in essence, a best of both worlds. Combining the top-notch action expected from the over-the-top experts at PlatinumGames combined with the deep storytelling and rich narrative of Kojima Productions, it plays to all its strengths. It is a return to form for some, with such classic Metal Gear appearances like Codec calls, Metal Gear Ray, High Frequency Blades and the titular character, Raiden, but infused with new elements like new villains, new allies, and the much-anticipated Blade Mode (try it out now in the demo available on PSN).
