It’s that wonderful time of year where the gaming world goes crazy in L.A. — E3 2013. We’ll be showing off Puppeteer at the PlayStation booth, and we can’t wait for people to finally experience our strange and fantastical world for themselves!

At GDC this year, we revealed two of the four “Hero Heads” that Kutaro will employ on his thrilling adventure: the Shield Power of the Moon Knight and the Bomb Power of the Moon Ninja.

Today we are revealing the final two powers: the Hook Power of the Moon Pirate and the Brute Power of the Moon Wrestler!

These powers are vital in Kutaro’s terrifying adventure. Without them, he will never be able to defeat the Moon Bear King and find his way home.

I’d also like to tell you about our wonderful Theatrical Pack, which you can get by pre-ordering Puppeteer. It includes lots of special DLC goodies, such as:

The Original Soundtrack of Puppeteer: By world-famous composer Patrick Doyle.

Exclusive PSN Avatars: Kutaro, the Moon Witch, and the villain we all love to hate, the Moon Bear King

Dynamic Custom Theme: Featuring hand-drawn concept art from all seven acts of Puppeteer.

If you are lucky enough to be going to E3 this year, we would love for you to swing by the PlayStation booth and gets some hands on time with Puppeteer. Kutaro and his perils will be waiting for you.

I’m just back from the wonderful city of San Francisco and the 2013 Game Developers Conference. Whilst I was there, I met with some members of the press to give them an exclusive look at the first two acts in Puppeteer, and also share an exciting gameplay reveal… Hero Heads!

As Kutaro, you’ll find all sorts of amazing heads to act as your noggin as you journey to get your head back from Moon Bear King. Be careful to collect and keep the right ones, as some have the power to change and shape the world around you, while others unlock bonus stages – adding even more adventure and hilarity to this dark and fantastical tale!

I’m excited to finally let the cat out of the bag (no, not Ying-Yang…I mean a metaphorical cat) about four very special heads that Kutaro will encounter on his journey and aid him in his quest. Each Hero Head possesses a power that once belonged to one of the four legendary “Moon Heroes” who fought valiantly to protect the Moon Goddess from being overthrown by the evil Moon Bear King. Alas, their powers were no match for Moon Bear King’s twelve generals who ultimately defeated the heroes… but what if someone were brave enough to attain all four of those powers and use them together?

At GDC we officially unveiled the first two Moon Heroes and their powers; the Shield Power of the Moon Knight, and the Bomb Power of the Moon Ninja! When Kutaro collects these Hero Heads, it adds some truly transformative mechanics to Puppeteer, which you won’t see coming! For more on that, stay tuned to PlayStation.Blog for more Puppeteer coverage from GDC.

I’m also very excited to share our final box art, and to let you know that Puppeteer will be available at your favorite local retailer September 10th, 2013 for $39.99!

Lastly, I couldn’t just drop by with all of this awesome news without bringing you something extra, so check out our new Story Trailer for a deeper insight into the dark happenings on the Moon.

That leaves two more Moon Heroes and their game-changing powers for Kutaro to quest after, doesn’t it? Well then, you’ll want to check back here in a few weeks for more on the strange tale of a boy named Kutaro!

Hi everyone and a Merry Christmas to you all! To bring a little peace and goodwill to PlayStation fans all around the world, we decided to create a special Puppeteer Christmas card, designed so that you can reach out to your friends, family and gaming buddies and put a smile on their faces. All from the comfort of your home, work… or even the pub.

So please go ahead and click on the link and send something that will bring a little joy to someone when they open their email in the morning.

So, ‘how is Puppeteer going?’ I hear you cry.

Puppeteer is shaping up nicely! Playing great and looking awesome. From January we will be polishing, refining and adding extra little details, to make the whole experience something fantastical and wonderful that PlayStation fans deserve.

Even though it’s Christmas, we will be working through the holiday season. Actually, Christmas in Japan is a normal work day, but don’t feel that sorry for us. We will make sure that we have a few drinks in the office on Christmas day. Then I will spend a couple of days with my family at New Year, then back for the final push towards launch.

I will be in London for two weeks doing the voice recordings in January, popping across to Budapest for the music recordings, then back to Japan with all my wonderful assets to shove them lovingly into the game. This is one of my favourite parts of game creation. Getting the final assets into the game really brings everything together.

Well, I better crack on. Have a wonderfully Merry Christmas and I hope your New Year brings you joy and happiness.

Well, it’s my favorite time of year again - Halloween, when all the ghosts and ghouls come out to scare the pants off of us for a single dark night. It’s also the one night of the year that we can all pig out on candy and sweets and not have to feel guilty. Well, not that guilty.

You all probably know by now my love for Tim Burton and his amazing gothic aesthetic.
This was something that I really had in the back of my mind when creating Puppeteer - dark and creepy but with a great sense of humor. Of course, his work on Nightmare Before Christmas is phenomenal but I also love his short movie Vincent, voiced by Vincent Price.
Well, it’s my favorite time of year again – Halloween, when all the ghosts and ghouls come out to scare the pants off of us for a single dark night. It’s also the one night of the year that we can all pig out on candy and sweets and not have to feel guilty. Well, not that guilty.

You all probably know by now my love for Tim Burton and his amazing gothic aesthetic.
This was something that I really had in the back of my mind when creating Puppeteer – dark and creepy but with a great sense of humor. Of course, his work on Nightmare Before Christmas is phenomenal but I also love his short movie Vincent, voiced by Vincent Price. In the same vein, Puppeteer is packed to the rafters with insane situations and creepy fun, all wrapped around gameplay that will keep you coming back for more.

In Puppeteer, our hero escapes from Castle Gristlestein – the dark and gloomy castle of the Moon Bear King – and sets out on his adventure to retrieve his disembodied head. His extraordinary journey will take him to many surprising and diverse locations, one of which is the spooky world of Hallowee Ville. In this land of frights, things have really gone to pot since the Moon Bear King took over the Moon Realm. Who needs to be scared for fun on an outing to Hallowee Ville, when your whole world is full of fear?

So, because it’s Halloween and to give you, the PlayStation fans, something spooky for the holiday, I have put together a special Halloween trailer cut from some of the scary situations to be found in our hero’s adventures in Hallowee Ville. Just remember to watch from behind the sofa and check under the bed before you go to sleep at night.

Have a spooky, crazy Halloween.

Gavin (currently hiding under the duvet).

We are currently casting in London for the voice actors, so I apologize for the voices in the trailer. It’s a little embarrassing because all of the voices are done by me, apart from the narrator.

Actually, I am thinking of doing the Witch’s voice in the final retail version, I just haven’t decided for sure yet. So, I thought I would leave that up to you the fans to decide. If you want me to remain as the Witch in Puppeteer, please just post a comment below and I will tally it up. Witch yes/no will do.

I’ll be in Sao Paolo for the Brazil Game Show — if you’re down in that neck of the woods during the October 11th-14th time frame, come and check it out. Anyway, I’d better get back and finish this game!

Hi guys. Let’s get the introductions out the way so can get right to the exciting stuff. My name is Gavin, and for the past nine years I have been living in Tokyo working for Sony’s Worldwide Studios.

Recently, I and a small -- but incredibly talented -- group of game makers have been hard at work on a new PlayStation 3 game called Puppeteer. I’m excited to be able to talk directly to you guys, the heart of PlayStation, and give you the heads-up on the game first.

Puppeteer takes place in a magical puppet theatre, owned and run by the slightly eccentric but thoroughly charming Professor Gregorious T. Oswald. His latest production is the weirdly titled "The Perilous Journey of a Boy Named Kutaro."

Hi guys. Let’s get the introductions out the way so can get right to the exciting stuff. My name is Gavin, and for the past nine years I have been living in Tokyo working for Sony’s Worldwide Studios.

Recently, I and a small — but incredibly talented — group of game makers have been hard at work on a new PlayStation 3 game called Puppeteer. I’m excited to be able to talk directly to you guys, the heart of PlayStation, and give you the heads-up on the game first.

Puppeteer takes place in a magical puppet theatre, owned and run by the slightly eccentric but thoroughly charming Professor Gregorious T. Oswald. His latest production is the weirdly titled “The Perilous Journey of a Boy Named Kutaro.”

On one dark, moonlit night, the star of the show, a young boy named Kutaro, is carried away by the maleficent Moon Bear King to a black castle, where the unlucky lad is transformed into a puppet. Kutaro then displeases the terrible tyrant who duly devours the boy’s wooden head and casts away his body. But the headless hero is not alone, for he discovers a very special pair of magic scissors, which will help him on his harrowing quest to find his head — and his way home.

To show you what I mean, here’s a look at our announcement trailer and the first glimpse of Puppeteer:

Unlike most games where you move through the world, the world of Puppeteer actually moves around you, with all the action taking place on the same stage. The sets are continually moving and changing, taking you on an adventure with surprises in every scene. It’s packed full of weird and wild situations that we think you’re going to love.

I’m a big fan of old school platform gaming, which we feature in abundance here, but we’ve added a twist — Kutaro’s scissors give him the power to cut his way through this dynamic world. You’re going to have a blast slicing your way through Kutaro’s adventure, or taking out one of the game’s numerous bosses with a few deft cuts.

That’s all I can share for now, but I’ll be back to keep you updated on what’s happening with Puppeteer in the near future. For now, I’ll leave you with a few words from the Professor himself…

“Prepare for an astonishing adventure full of mystery, danger and artistry meant to astound the eye and capture the human soul.”
