Today, we’re excited to give you a free taste of the experience with a demo on PSN. In the demo, you’ll have a chance to start working up a sweat in a singles Tennis match against the AI, play a hole of Golf for one to two players, and try out a fast flying and jumping Ski run for up to two players. Of course the full game has a ton of additional content and challenges, but I hope this gives you an idea of how a few of the events play from the start.

If you can’t wait to get your hands on the full experience and you purchase Sports Champions 2 in the first run at retail and on PSN, you’ll receive a cool DLC bonus called the Golf DLC Pack. This limited time free DLC includes Scramble, Best Ball, and Stableford Golf modes, and a set of carbon fiber golf clubs for your Champion. Some of you may already be able to see Sports Champions 2 popping up on store shelves early in your area, so be sure to keep an eye out!

I’m also pleased to announce that we’ve teamed up with the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) and the President’s Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition to support the Active Play PALA Challenge. This initiative aims to promote playing active videogames as a fun way to help establish a healthy lifestyle. As part of the challenge, you can use active games like Sports Champions 2 as a way to work towards earning a Presidential Active Lifestyle Award (PALA+).

We’ve pulled together lots of fun activity routines featuring all of Sports Champions 2’s action-packed sporting events that will help you get up off the couch and start working towards earning your PALA+ using PlayStation Move. Click here to learn how you can join the fun!

That’s all for now! Please stay tuned to the PlayStation.Blog for the latest Sports Champions 2 news.

We're giving the game one final coat of polish and squashing bugs right now, and I’m proud to say that we’ve surpassed many of our lofty internal goals. We can’t wait until it's in your hands.

One example: the Avatar Creator feature has turned out so much better than we envisioned it. In fact, we are already starting to think about post-release support to make this feature even better -- hopefully I’ll be able to announce something on that after launch.
We are also getting a ton of great feedback on Skiing, Boxing, Tennis, Golf, Bowling, and the new Archery. Just like with SC1, everyone seems to have their personal favorite. While my personal favorite in SC1 was Bocce, I’ll wait until SC2′s been out for a bit before making that call for the sequel.

Party Play keeps getting better and better, too. I really hope this takes off, as it’s been a blast to make. Thanks to the tremendous talent of Zindagi for making this possible, with big time improvements on core systems — like the removal of three point calibration.

Sports Champions 2 revives favorite features, including the surprisingly deep and challenging single-player Cup Play and the customizable Free Play mode, plus fun arcade Challenge rounds for each event. We’ve made a ton of improvements, too: Three-point PS Move calibration is no longer required (and it won’t sacrifice gameplay; player avatars can be created and customized per event; a new profile system enables everyone in the house to play together with their own avatars and settings; and the photo booth is more customizable and easier to use.

There’s also an all-new Party Play mode that I can’t wait to show off because it’s the perfect way to play with your friends and family on game night. You can play matches from any combination of events, including Challenge Rounds, and add up your score to see who reigns as the party champion. You can create your own match playlist, see photos and voices from each player during the game, and draw something humiliating (or nice!) on the hapless loser.

It’s been just about two months since PlayStation Move introduced true 1-to-1 table tennis, archery, and gladiator dueling to your living room. The team worked really hard at making Sports Champions easy to play for everyone, while still making sure it has loads of challenge and depth for all you hardcore enthusiasts. You have played and played and played, in volumes way beyond our best expectations. So with the initial server shock faded, we can look fondly at our launch past. Check out some of the cool global stats we put together for some insider information on what your competition has been up to over the first month of play. We’ve also recently released a new Reverse Course DLC, but more on than in a bit.

First, the numbers …

As mentioned earlier, the Reverse Course DLC is also now available on the Playstation Store. If you are hungry for more Disc Golf content this is definitely for you. We’ve taken all 18 holes and re-worked them for a fresh new compelling gameplay experience. But it’s much more than just an aesthetic difference of swapping the tees and the baskets – everything about how you play changes. You’ll need to come up with new strategies to master this course – tee shots, obstacles, hazards, where to lay up, shortcuts – basically everything. Check out a couple example holes for a taste of what we mean.

We thought these stats were pretty interesting and useful, and we hope you agree. It lets us know what you like and maybe where we need to improve. Thanks to all of you, we have a better idea of what to focus on next. With the past and current out of the way, please help us look to the future to get even better!

Let me bring you back in time to E3 2009, where we debuted a little tech demo for a brand new motion control platform, later to become what we now all know and love as the PlayStation Move. In the tech demo you could sword fight with a skeleton (anyone remember tickling the skeleton’s chin with the sword blade?), use dual handed throwing stars, and shoot arrows at an endless parade of skeletons. Most of the mechanics in the demo were the basis of a title that was, at the time, only a work in progress, but would become Sports Champions.
