This edition of Pulse concludes a busy, busy January with a look at the new Soulcalibur V that returns to the 17th century with lots of new characters including Ezio from Assassin’s Creed. Christina Lee also previews the upcoming PSN shooter Gotham City Imposters that pits vigilantes dressed up as Batman against criminals dressed up like the Joker. Predictably, mayhem ensues!
In other dress-up news for you digital fashionistas, PlayStation Home‘s got a new game coming called Wardrobe Wars where you can dress to impress and let the community vote for who’s got ‘it’ and who does not.
The previous two seasons of PlayStation Network’s original reality show The Tester offered the winner the chance to work among Sony’s brightest minds as a game tester at Sony Computer Entertainment America. As you’ve probably heard, for season 3, the ultimate prize is truly the chance of a lifetime: the winner of The Tester 3 will become a production associate at Sony’s world-famous Santa Monica Studio.
We thought you might like to take a peek behind the scenes of this state-of-the-art studio to meet some of the talented folks involved in the biggest titles on the platform: Shannon Studstill (senior director), Stig Asmussen (director of God of War III), Todd Papy (design director), Whitney Wade (senior producer), and Deborah Mars (executive producer). You might remember Deborah and Stig appeared as guest panelists in season 2 of The Tester. Check out this exclusive inside look at Santa Monica Studio (above).
We have a ton of entertainment in store for The Tester 3, and with the season premiere only three weeks away on Tuesday, February 7, we thought it’s a great time to give you a sneak peek at some of the action you’ll be seeing all season long in this short trailer. Take a look at the above video!
We’ve also prepared a longer, more in-depth 3:00 minute version that just debuted on an updated official site, which you can view here. As always, you can acquaint yourself with the entire cast, panelists, and special guests on our main site.
Last week, we introduced the twelve gamers who will compete against one another for a coveted Production Associate position at SCEA’s Santa Monica Studio. If you watched the cast introduction video, you met the eclectic group: from ninjanomyx’s freestyle rapping skills to Suzkaiden’s passionate desire to work at PlayStation. We also introduced our returning panelists from last season: reality TV star Adrianne Curry is back with Brent Gocke, senior release manager from SCEA, and host Meredith Molinari.
In addition to our returning panelists, we’re bringing in a star-studded list of game industry professionals, who will test the contestants over a broad range of skills necessary to make it in the business and, most of all, whether they deserve a shot at the grand prize. We have a great line-up of panelists and special guests, including:
We’re excited to announce the lineup of 12 gamers who will appear on Season 3 and compete for a job as a Production Associate at Sony Computer Entertainment America’s world-famous Santa Monica Studio, home of PlayStation’s best-selling God Of War franchise, along with a $5,000 signing bonus, a 55” 3D Bravia TV, a PS3 and a Ford Focus Titanium. From San Bernardino to Brooklyn to the Dominican Republic (and many stops in between), here are “The Tester 3” contestants (see video above).
As 2011 draws to a close, join Christina Lee for a look back at some of the year’s most memorable games. From Sackboy’s return in LittleBigPlanet 2 to Nathan Drake’s epic adventure in UNCHARTED 3: Drake’s Deception, this year was one of the biggest in recent memory. From the big shooters like Killzone 3 and Battlefield 3 to surprises such as PSN exclusives Eufloria and inFAMOUS: Festival of Blood, the year also included a dramatic redesign of PlayStation Home and a beautiful compilation of the beloved Ico & Shadow of the Colossus collection. We know this only scratches the surface and there’s plenty of titles PULSE didn’t have time to mention, but we hope you enjoy a walk through another amazing year for our industry.
And, remember you can watch the full edition of PULSE from the ‘What’s New’ section on your XMB later today when the PlayStation Store updates.
