Canadians! Visit the New PlayStation.ca

The team at Sony Computer Entertainment Canada has a small gift for all Canadian gamers! PlayStation.ca has undergone its first major redesign since it launched a few short years ago, relaunching this week with a new dynamic interface for easy site navigation. Visitors are now greeted with a large showcase marquee that provides instant access to videos and screen shots from nearly anywhere on the site. This gives users the ability to checkout the content they want to see, when they want to see it.

Also new are the related content blocks that give users access to similar items. Looking for info on the hot new PSPgo or finding out about the Gran Turismo 5 Time Trial Contest (which is open to ALL residents of Canada, including Quebec) is now that much easier. We’ve also introduced a new series and collection of Developer Diary videos with a lot more unique content planned for the future.

Great to be back on the PlayStation.Blog once again. Canadian PlayStation gamers and fans alike are passionate and vocal and it’s awesome. I get a lot of feedback via email and Twitter asking if we can get Canadians more involved with contests. We can and we’ve listened so we’re going to be giving away 5 copies of the UNCHARTED 2: Among Thieves Fortune Hunter Edition along with a copy of the Brady Games UNCHARTED 2: Among Thieves strategy guide! Epic Canadian Premiers Scheduled for Fan Expo in Toronto this Weekend

Hi Everyone! Huge news for Canadian gamers attending Fan Expo this weekend at the Metro Toronto Convention Center:

PlayStation Canada is attending the show in a massive way this year offering attendees the chance to get some hands-on time with a few major first party blockbuster titles. PLAYABLE the first time in Canada will be on the PSP Jak & Daxter: The Lost Frontier and for PlayStation 3, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, Buzz Quiz World, Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time and God of War III. Be sure to stop by our booth this weekend so you can play these top titles well in advance of their release. Also if you are planning to attend the show on Saturday, be sure to check out the panel discussion featuring the host of Electric Playground Victor Lucas and SCEC’s own Matt Levitan at 4 PM.

We’ll be giving away plenty of prizes and tons of swag throughout the weekend so be sure to come see us when you are at the show. This will be your only chance to play Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time, Jak & Daxter: The Lost Frontier and God of War III before release so don’t miss out!

PSN Cards Debut in Canada

Hi Everyone! Kyle Moffatt, Senior Public Relations Specialist for Sony Computer Entertainment Canada back to the blog with some great news for Canadian gamers. With the Stanley Cup finals ending last week the team at PlayStation Canada figured it would be a great time to bring the prepaid PSN cards to Canada! The cards, available in $20 and $50 denominations, can now be purchased at EB Games and GameStop locations across the country. In the coming weeks and months you’ll also be able to buy the cards at: Best Buy, Future Shop, HMV, The Source by Circuit City and Rogers Plus entertainment locations with more to come.

It’s great time to pick up a PSN card so buy one today and check out some of the great content available like Flower or The Last Guy (two of my favorites) or a PSone classic like Final Fantasy VII or Resident Evil: Director’s Cut. You can also get ready for a game I’m really looking forward to – Fat Princess. Now Canadians can have their cake and play with it too!

Attention Canadian Gamers: Try Out PlayStation’s Top Holiday Titles This Weekend

It’s Fall, the leaves are changing, football is back on TV, and the air is getting crisp. That means it’s time for our annual exclusive Canadian preview event! We took over a very cool venue last week to give media and consumers a look at some great 2008 holiday titles for PlayStation Portable and PLAYSTATION 3.

Attendees were able to get hands-on time with Resistance 2, MotorStorm Pacific Rift, LittleBigPlanet and many more top SCE games. It was also the first Canadian showing of Resistance: Retribution and Killzone 2. A very special thank you to James Stevenson from Insomniac Games and my fellow SCEA PR counterpart (and blog poster) Brian Keltner for coming up to demo the Resistance titles.

We had great third party support as Ubisoft, EA, Activision, THQ, Bethesda, Namco Bandai, Sega and 2K Games attended. Some of the playable third party games included Guitar Hero IV: World Tour, 007: Quantum of Solace, Rock Band 2, Mirror’s Edge, Call of Duty 5: World at War, Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm, Sonic Unleashed, WWE Raw vs Smackdown 2009, Bioshock, Prince of Persia and Fallout 3.

The best part is, for those of you who couldn’t attend the event and will be in Greater Toronto Area October 17-19, we will also have a big presence at Best Buy’s Gaming Invasion 08. Gamers will have the opportunity once again to get hands-on time with all of our holiday titles before they hit stores.

Thanks to everyone who participated and we look forward to having you back next year. Now that the event is over, I’m really looking forward to playing all of these titles!!!

SCE Canada Holiday Preview Event

Hi Everyone, I’m Kyle Moffatt, the Public Relations Specialist for Sony Computer Entertainment Canada. Yes, there is a Sony Computer Entertainment here in Canada and we also do cool events like the one held this past Wednesday.

We hosted an exclusive preview event for the Canadian media. We took over a venue in downtown Toronto and filled it with the wicked games that will be available this holiday season, and early 2008, for PlayStation 3, PSP and PlayStation 2. Media who attended spent time with:

* Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune
* Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction
* God of War: Chains of Olympus
* Buzz!: The Mega Quiz

And many more top SCE games

We also had tremendous third party support as Ubisoft, EA, Activision, D3, THQ, LucasArts, Rockstar, 2K Sports, Capcom and Sega attended.

I’d like to thank the third parties as well as my counterparts at SCEA for taking the time to help us build such a successful event as well as sending spokespeople to demo the games. This holiday season is going to be the best gaming season I’ve ever been a part of and I can’t wait to play! I hope you’re all anticipating it as much as I am!
