PAX 2007 Approaches

PAX 2007 kicks off tomorrow and ends on Sunday. Is anyone here attending? This is my first year hitting PAX, so if you have any advice for a noob, let me know.

As John Garvin pointed out yesterday, we have Syphon Filter: Logan’s Shadow comic book cover signings scheduled with Greg Rucka. We’ll be in booth #516 so be sure to swing by for the signings and to check out several new titles that we’ll be showing off, including:

PAX attendees will have the chance to get some hands-on time with Naughty Dog’s Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune (updated exclusively for PAX) in our booth. They will also have a chance to insert themselves into a real-life adventure as they take off in search of clues to treasures that are just as real. Participants will find themselves shooting Airsoft rifles and climbing walls, and will be rewarded with sweet prizes that include:

- Exclusive Penny Arcade designed Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune t-shirts
- Limited edition framed concept art prints signed by the Naughty Dog team
- PLAYSTATION 3s with an SCEA software bundle including pre-release copies of Warhawk and LAIR!

Comic-Con Costume Appreciate Poll, The Solo Cosplayers

Had some technical difficulties on Saturday, so appreciate your patience in awaiting the post for solo cosplay nominations from Comic-Con. If you think that I was actually too busy trying to pull together my own Nariko costume for the Masquerade Ball for that night, you might be right. Jokes, jokes, I actually ended up leaving on Saturday afternoon so wasn’t able to make the Ball, but you can check out the results for best costumes here.

Below you can find our nominations for best individual costume. Big thanks to my partner in crime and the fella you see in the shots below, PR Specialist Brian Keltner.

Thanks to you all for your feedback on Friday’s post. Hopefully you get it’s just supposed to be something to have a little fun with and to give you a window into the craziness that was Comic-Con. We plan on doing something for Penny Arcade at the end of August as well. Let us know if you have any suggestions.

When we had this guy sign his waver, he printed his name as Red Power Ranger Steve. I mean, duh.

I asked him if he would flintlock-whip me for the photo’s sake, but he wasn’t into it.

Later I borrowed his wig to get the seniors’ discount on a Wonder Woman belt buckle.

She was not stoked to be in a picture with me but her costume was amazing.

Comic-Con Costume Appreciation Poll

Our team is here at Comic-Con showing off some of our upcoming titles: Syphon Filter: Logan’s Shadow, SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Tactical Strike, Folklore and plenty of others. THE EYE OF JUDGEMENT kiosk has been packed, and so has the SingStar competition. If you happen to be at the show, be sure to stop by, we’re in booth #4401. This afternoon and tomorrow we will have Navy SEALs on-hand to help you pose with weapons to be photographed and put onto the cover of SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Tactical Strike. All right, enough of the plug.

Overall impressions are that the show is bigger already than it has been in the past. Rumor has it that there will be more than 130,000 attendees tomorrow. Crazy! This is my first Comic-Con, and I have to say that I’ve had a fun time so far- it’s been one of the things on my, “I have to do that someday” list. So I wasn’t really sure what to expect in terms of people being dressed up. We have definitely spotted some amazing ones, and we have definitely spotted some that just make no sense at all. In all honesty, I totally love the random ones that leave you wondering, what the … ???

We thought that it would be fun to choose some of our favorite costumes that we’ve seen on the show floor and give you guys a chance to vote on which one is your favorite in the comments section. Today we will feature groups of two or more, and tomorrow will be the individual competition. On Monday we will take the winner of each category and have one more poll to declare the victor. What is the prize? Bragging rights – and believe me, with this crowd, I think that is the best prize you can give.

Their makeup was really well done, and her ears were the softest thing I’ve ever felt.

A group of Transformers. Their costumes ACTUALLY transformed from robots into cars, tanks etc. See the police car underneath. Very impressive.

And a very special award that needs no vote. Check out this shot for our pick for Best Family costume. The little werewolf had fur on the tops of his feet! Not only that, but each and every one of them had come by our booth to get their “paws” on the Syphon Filter: Logan’s Shadow demo we’ve been passing out.
