Hello again! We’re excited to share the news that Rocketbirds 2: Evolution is coming exclusively to PS4 and PS Vita on April 26. With the launch date approaching, we at Ratloop wanted to share more details about the game’s new features.
The show begins at 10am Pacific Time this Saturday, December 3. Watch here for a chance to unlock rewards!
Hello, PlayStation fans! My name is Sian Yue Tan, creator of Rocketbirds. We’ve spent the last four years really looking at what people liked and disliked about the original Rocketbirds game and after a long wait, we’re happy to announce the sequel — Rocketbirds 2: Evolution!
The wait is over! We’re very proud to announce that Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken is wiggling its way onto your PS Vita starting with today’s PlayStation Store update.
To start things off – an apology to those of you who own the PS3 version of the game, whom we promised a reduced price last week if you also purchase the PS Vita version. We ‘clucked up,’ and the planned 20% discount will take a bit longer before this is set up in the US PlayStation Store. We will let you know when the discount goes live.
That said, building upon our 3x IGF Finalist browser game Rocketbirds: Revolution! and Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken for PS3, this new PS Vita version utilizes many of the PS Vita’s awesome features.
The game is already available in Asia, where it was bundled with the PS Vita over Christmas, while it was also available exclusively to Asian PS Plus members. Since then, it became one of the top three most-downloaded PS Vita games on the PSN Top 10 PS3 and PS Vita Games in December list in Hong Kong, which is awesome!
In this game, you’ll take control of Hardboiled Chicken, the original Cock of War (a chicken so tough, he survived being boiled as a fetus).
Rocketbirds, our cinematic platform adventure game, has come a long way from its three IGF finalist nominations back in 2010. Since then, we listened to people’s feedback and vastly improved the game for its PS3 release in October 2011. That version had more technical improvements than we could shake a stick at; we made it fast and included stereoscopic 3D, added a new Jet Pack mode, a two-player couch co-op campaign and polished the heck out of it. We received more great feedback, so when it came down to the PS Vita version, we jumped at the opportunity to iterate on the game once more. We added things like new chapters, puzzles and humor; a unique new Hardboiled difficulty setting; improvements to the controls to utilize the PS Vita’s unique features; and improved connectivity for the cooperative campaign.
The wait is over! We’re very proud to announce that our cinematic platform adventure title Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken is fully cooked and ready to serve up exclusively on PSN starting with today’s PlayStation Store update.
Building upon our critically acclaimed browser-based game Rocketbirds: Revolution!, it has been a real adventure for us working on Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken. When it came time to put together the launch trailer, it made me realize just how far the Rocketbirds have come! The one thing I really wanted for this launch trailer was for it to use the awesome Rocketbirds theme song, which New World Revolution put together especially for the game. So here it is — enjoy!

After its triple nomination at the 2010 Independent Games Festival, the Rocketbirds universe is finally approaching release — and only on PSN. Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken takes you on a cinematic platform adventure through Albatropolis. In the single-player mode, you’re Hardboiled Chicken, the original Coq of War, on a mission to hunt down the Penguin’s corrupt leader, Putzki. Along the way you’ll have to kill many Penguins, solve puzzles, incite revolution, and maybe possibly pilot a few jetpacks.
Today I’d like to share a bit about the game’s two-player couch co-op mode, since we are particularly happy with the way it’s turned out. But first, check out some gameplay in our new Rocketbirds co-op video.
With our first post in July, we introduced you to our upcoming title Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken, and for our second post in September, we touched a bit on the genesis and character design of the Rocketbirds. In this third post, we wanted to talk a bit about the cutscenes and music videos we created for the game.

Originally, for Rocketbirds: Revolution! (the Independent Games Festival 2010 triple finalist browser game) we created the first opening sequence (‘Robot’ music video) as a way to keep people interested while the first game assets were being streamed to people’s computers.
