A vast shadow, chilling and absolute, draws towards Earth. Oryx sets his abominable gaze towards the Last City, and the call for Guardians resounds throughout the system. Destiny: The Taken King is coming this week on PS4 and PS3. Gather your light.
This week we had the chance to celebrate two important video game milestones. September 9th, 2015 marked the 20th anniversary of PlayStation in North America. It also marked one year since Destiny first launched on our platform. I had the chance to celebrate these two events on a livestream earlier this week with our friends from Bungie, where we unboxed the gorgeous Limited Edition Destiny: The Taken King PlayStation 4 Bundle and played through our PlayStation exclusive Strike.
Our courageous leader Sid Shuman makes his triumphant return to the Blogcast. Today, the team is honored to sit with DeeJ and James from Bungie to discuss Destiny: The Taken King, which is out next week. What’s it like working on such a huge project for such a long time? What’s their reaction to the dedicated player community?
Where were you 20 years ago?
I was in Tokyo, already enjoying my PlayStation as it had launched over nine months earlier in Japan, December 3, 1994, and I am sure I was still chasing the final black racer in Ridge well into 1995. By the time the PlayStation launched in North America on 9/9/95, I was splitting my time between Tekken and Battle Arena Toshinden and trying to get a US copy of ESPN Street Games (incidentally, the first game I worked on at SCEI to localize for the Japanese market.)
Hi everyone! Tomorrow marks 20 years since the original PlayStation launched in North America, and we’re celebrating with an anniversary sale on some of the biggest games of the last two decades. Starting today, we’re discounting more than 200 titles from PS4, PS3, PS Vita, PSP, and PS Classics — all for up to 70 percent off. PlayStation Plus members enjoy up to 80 percent off.
