I'm sure there are readers out there who’ve spent many hours in the arcades playing Warlords and other Atari games back in the 80s. With this new PSN version, we wanted to capture all the fast-paced, multiplayer fun that made the original a hit in its day. But as you'll see, Warlords has been completely overhauled with a new identity for modern consoles, yet we really felt it important to keep it as true to the original as possible. As Nolan Bushnell used to say, Atari games are "simple to play, difficult to master.” I think you'll find that to be the case with Warlords. ]]></description>

<p>I&#8217;m sure there are readers out there who’ve spent many hours in the arcades playing Warlords and other Atari games back in the 80s. With this new PSN version, we wanted to capture all the fast-paced, multiplayer fun that made the original a hit in its day. But as you&#8217;ll see, Warlords has been completely overhauled with a new identity for modern consoles, yet we really felt it important to keep it as true to the original as possible. As Nolan Bushnell used to say, Atari games are &#8220;simple to play, difficult to master.” I think you&#8217;ll find that to be the case with Warlords. </p>
<p>The core concept of the game remains the same as the original &#8211; defend your fortress while attacking others. You can play either cooperatively or competitively, defending your fort from attacks with up to three other players. Winning requires speed and strategy, as you&#8217;ll be forced to defend your stronghold by blocking fireballs with your shield while hurling your own fireballs towards your enemies and managing your troops, called Snoots. There are also offensive power-ups that you&#8217;ll need to overcome your challengers and take down their fortress walls.</p>

<p>The power-ups that you collect play a significant role in gaining the upper hand during battle: Castle Crusher immediately blows out a portion of your enemy&#8217;s walls; Slowed Shield reduces the opposing player&#8217;s shield speed temporarily; Extender increases your own shield&#8217;s size; and White Knight Shield potects your little Snoots from attack when the Black Knight&#8217;s troops show up.</p>
<p>In addition, there are multiple game modes to help keep the experience fresh over extended play, including single-player quick matches and campaign modes that are 1v1, 2v2 and free-for-all among four players in both online and local play mode. Fireballs can also be adjusted from 1-5 for each match.  There&#8217;s also a &#8220;Classic&#8221; mode without Snoots, power-ups or the Black Knight. </p>
<p>The key to winning is in how you strategically use your Snoots to overcome opposing players. The Snoots are a versatile lot, and can provide additional support to fight your enemies, collect important power-ups, capture control points, banish the Black Knight, heal your walls, and destroy your enemy’s castle walls. With smart use of your Snoots, the game will quickly tilt in your favor.</p>

However, with <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/tag/ghostbusters-sanctum-of-slime/">Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime</a>, we still wanted to add something that would lure new people to the world of Ghostbusters and also excite the veteran fans.

In Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime, the story begins 4000 years ago with a strange cult mourning the death of Dumazu, an ancient demon of death and destruction. Fast forward to 1989, when museum curator Janosz Poha is sent to a mental institution following the events in Ghostbusters 2. There he meets Ismael, the self-proclaimed last member of the cult of Dumazu. Ismael seeks a Shard of the Relic of Nilhe, a mystic artifact that possesses the power to bring Dumazu the Destroyer back to life, and he tasks Janosz with obtaining it. <p>Some years later, following Janosz’s release from the mental institution, a wave of unusual paranormal manifestations start appearing all over New York City. The Ghostbusters can’t handle all the heat with this latest outbreak, so they recruit a young group of paranormal studies enthusiasts to lend a hand. And that’s where you come in, guiding the rookie team in their first adventure to find the truth behind Ismael, the Relic of Nilhe, and Dumazu the Destroyer!</p>
<p>One of the goals when writing the story was to keep true to the Ghostbusters universe. Making it funny, yet smart and sarcastic. To accomplish these goals we had the help of someone with some experience: Tom Waltz, scriptwriter of the <a href="http://www.idwpublishing.com/">IDW</a> Ghostbusters comics. He transformed our storyline into an amazing comic sequence that flows between the levels to tell the player what is happening in NYC and to introduce them to the personalities of the new rookies.</p>

<p>This new chapter in the Ghostbusters story not only introduces the new rookie team, but links them to some of the classic series characters. Favorites such as Slimer and Stay Puft make an appearance as well, but the core of the story is focused on the first adventures of the rookie team dealing with a strange menace overcoming New York City.</p>
<p>Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime comes to the <a href="http://us.playstation.com/psn/playstation-store/index.htm">PlayStation Store</a> tomorrow, March 22nd as part of <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2011/03/08/spring-fever-is-back-on-playstation-network/">Spring Fever</a>.</p>

<p>Let’s say you hear strange noises in the dark, or spot a mysterious figure roaming your house. Who you gonna call? <em>Exactly!</em> But don’t be surprised when a new team of <a href="http://www.atari.com/gbsanctumofslime/">Ghostbusters</a> rings your bell. The old crew is tired of lugging their proton packs all over NYC, so they’ve decided to hire a group of rookies to help out &#8211; especially with a huge wave of paranormal activity hitting the city.</p>
<p>Introducing Allan, Bridget, Samuel and Gabriel &#8211; the new ghost bustin’ team here to clear the overwhelmed city of New York from an ectoplasmic infestation. They packing a new arsenal of cool prototype weapons that Egon has been designing over the past decade. Egon’s and Ray’s studies on paranormal entities have revealed that ectoplasm can be charged with different sub-atomic charges, making ghosts weaker to different energy frequencies. To keep it simple, there are three different weapons, each stronger against a particular kind of enemy. You can identify them by their color. Match the color of the weapon’s beam with the color of the enemy and you’ll get a sure bust. These new weapons, together with the enhanced Proton Stream, completely disintegrate minor entities so you don’t have to worry about tossing your trap every two minutes. However, when facing larger menaces, the trap will be your only surefire solution.</p>

<p>Disintegrated ghosts will usually leave a small trail of ectoplasmic residue that can be absorbed by the team’s proton pack built-in Energy Syphon. In some situations, the energy left behind by the ghosts will be so powerful that they can power up some of the other energy consuming features of the Proton Pack, like the Ectoplasmic Shield, the Power Enhancer or Nano-massage Health Recovery system.</p>
