If you are like us, you’ve marked your calendars and informed all and sundry that, come November 10, you will be shirking your day-to-day responsibilities in favor of tossing flashbangs and dropping brass on any and all opponents in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Forget work, school, and jury duty – this Tuesday it’s all about who can get the most Killstreaks as we embark on a shoot-or-be-shot journey through the war torn landscapes of one of the most highly-anticipated titles of the year.

For those of you who are saving the single-player campaign for a later time and instead opting to spend D-Day knee-deep in some of the most ridiculously addictive multiplayer modes you’ll find in any FPS around, there’s no better place to find a battle than in PlayStation Home. Why? First and foremost, PlayStation Home allows you to easily find other CoD:MW2 fans and seamlessly launch into the various multiplayer match types including Free-For-All, Search & Destroy, Domination, Team Deathmatch and the new Demolition and Capture The Flag modes. But to top it off we’re also offering participants in our launch day event a unique opportunity to score some free prizes just for coming out and playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 – namely, the Modern Warfare 2 Veteran ARTFX statue (pictured below).

This 1/6-scale (12” tall) statue depicts Cpt. “Soap” MacTavish of Task Force 141, equipped with custom snow camouflage and weaponry, as seen in the “Cliffhanger” mission from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. 10 of these special prizes will be awarded at random to users that attend the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 “Featured Game” event tonight, Tuesday, November 10 between the hours of 6:00pm and 10:00pm PT (9:00pm and 1:00am EST). If you’re a die-hard Call of Duty fan this is THE launch day event to attend. More info on how to participate is below.

The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 event marks the beginning of a new type of regularly occurring event in PlayStation Home – the “Featured Game” party. Every day one of the latest and greatest PlayStation 3 games (that have an online multiplayer component, of course) will be showcased in PlayStation Home. Official host accounts (manned by the Home Community Management team, the Home Community Volunteer team, and – when available – game developers and other celebrity players) will gather in Central Plaza between the hours of 6:00pm and 10:00pm PT (9:00pm and 1:00am EST). A list of host accounts will be placed on the screens at the Listen@Home kiosk in Central Plaza as well as on the official PlayStation Home Clubs and Events forum.

If you have the Featured Game and want to join in on the fun, just add one of these accounts and then use the “Go To” feature to travel to official “instances” of Central Plaza where the event is taking place (you can find the “Go To” option in your Menu Pad by going to your Friends List and then selecting the name of the host account). Once at the event, insert the Featured Game into your PlayStation 3 and either set up your own game launching session or join someone else’s (just look for the game title being broadcast above another player’s avatar).

Not only are the Featured Game parties fun events that anyone can join, they also offer opportunities to win awesome prizes and, most importantly, meet new people to game with. We couldn’t be more stoked to kick off this new community program with a title like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Expect to see all of us in Central Plaza right at 6:00pm PT on Tuesday, November 10th. And we’ll expect to see you there as well.

For one week only (offer ending November 1, 2009), Call of Duty: World at War Map Packs 1, 2, and 3 for PS3 will be half-off in the PlayStation Store (only available in North America). So if you are missing one, we hope this makes it a bit easier to complete your collection!

With this, we’re announcing some important playlist changes you’ll want to take note of:

Hardcore HQ: The addition of Hardcore Headquarters to the Hardcore playlists has taken effect, by popular demand.

Team Flags: In the MAP PACK category, the old “Team Objective” playlist has been removed, and replaced with two playlists; Team Flags being one of them (CTF, Domination, and War).

Team Objectives: Also in the MAP PACK category, the counterpart to Team Flags is this new playlist, Team Objectives (S&D, HQ, and Sabotage).

Also, all 3 map packs are now in the MAP PACK rotation. So if you want to play only new content, but are tired of the same 3 maps, this will hopefully be a happy medium for you =).

Finally, we’ve turned on Double-XP which will also end Monday, November 1st. So hit that prestige button one more time while the XP is cheap!

To your last breath!

Hey Call of Duty: WaW Nazi Zombie fans, the wait is over! We’re releasing the first map pack for PSN today, March 19, and it includes a new Nazi Zombie Co-op level (Verrückt) that’s got tons of new enhancements: Perks-a-Cola soda machines, electroshock defense systems and even more vicious zombies – all set in a creepy insane asylum which is based off of the multiplayer map, MP Asylum.

But it doesn’t end with the zombies. We’ve also got 3 new multiplayer maps for you to raise hell in: Nightfire, Knee Deep and Station. “Nightfire” is all about fighting in a dark urban war-torn Berlin. While you dart in and out of shelled buildings, you’ve got the fires raging throughout the city as your only source of light.

“Knee Deep” is a Japanese-run command center in the middle of what used to be a quiet Peleliu village. On your way to taking over the command post, you’ll be wading through jungle streams and fighting your way through fortified Japanese bunkers. This map works well for larger team games and objective matches.

Finally, “Station” offers a lot of variety, from close-range choke points to sweet hidden spots just waiting to be a home for that devastating sniper. It’s a bombed-out underground train station, so you’ll find yourself running through destroyed subway cars, hidden passageways, loading platforms and second-story overlooks.

We really hope you enjoy these new maps and welcome your questions and suggestions as we continue to work hard to make more great downloadable content for you in the future.

To kick off the launch of Map Pack 1, we’re offering up a full week of double XP, starting today at 10am (PT) and ending Wednesday, March 25 at 10am (PT). Some of the team will also be playing online specifically from 1-5pm (PT) on Sunday, March 22, although you’ll also be able to catch us throughout the weekend, so be sure to add our PSN IDs:

Hey all!

We’re pleased to introduce our first batch of add-on content for Call of Duty: World at War – Map Pack #1! This pack includes 3 new multiplayer levels: Nightfire, Knee Deep and Station. It is intended to bring you a variety of different MP environments – from the dark streets of Berlin in “Nightfire” (pictured below), to the lush Pacific jungles in “Knee Deep,” to a bombed-out subway platform in “Station.”

The fourth piece of content in Map Pack 1 expands on the oh-so-popular Nazi Zombie bonus mode that shipped with the game. This new level, named “Verrückt” (Zombie Asylum), splits your team up as you cooperatively battle wave after wave of undead Zombie soldiers. It features new weapons, electroshock defense systems and a Perks-a-Cola machine for purchasing multiplayer PERKS to combat the Zombie horde!

We hope you enjoy our first map pack, and promise there’s more to follow. Map Pack 1 is slated to hit this March – go here for more details!

Regards,
-JD & The Treyarch Team
