San Diego Comic-Con doesn’t want for distractions – famous graphic novelists greet their fans, uber-limited edition collectables line sprawling tables, and cosplayers roam the halls by the thousands.
Mere seconds after the doors of the San Diego Convention Center opened for business, Capcom’s Tristan Corbett handed me a PlayStation Move motion controller and I beheld Japanese sun goddess-turned-canine Amaterasu in full HD glory for the first time.
Prepare for some quality zombie slaying while re-living Resident Evil history in high definition! The Resident Evil: Chronicles HD Collection features Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles and Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles in high definition and comes with PlayStation Move support to help immerse you in the horror. You can grab a friend to play or spend your time racking up Trophies.
The collection will initially be available to download as a discounted two-game bundle, but at a later date, each of the titles will be available for purchase separately. PlayStation Plus members will enjoy 10% off retail price of $26.99, bringing it down to just $24.29 for these two Resident Evil classics.
Grab your Celestial Brush! I’m pleased to confirm that this fall, gamers will be able to return to the land of Nippon in Okami HD, exclusively on the PS3 with PlayStation Move support. Initially released to critical acclaim on the PS2, Okami HD has the player take on the role of Amaterasu, the Japanese sun goddess, who inhabits the form of a wolf. After a tyrannical monster, Orochi, turns the world into a ruined, colorless wasteland, Amaterasu must use her magical abilities to restore the land to its previous glory and defeat the demon in charge of the destruction.
Okami HD brings Amaterasu’s epic tale to the PS3 with fully integrated HD graphics and widescreen 16:9 aspect ratio. I did not think it was possible to make the game look even better, but when I saw it for myself, I was a believer.
At E3 2012, Capcom offered a glimpse of the three different scenarios we’ll be playing in Resident Evil 6. Players could enjoy a co-op between Leon Kennedy and newcomer Helena Harper in classic survival-horror style in a Tall Oaks full of zombies, face a boss battle with Jake Muller (son of longtime series baddie Albert Wesker) and Sherry Birkin (aka the little girl from RE2), or battle across the rooftops of China with Chris Redfield and his partner Piers Nivans. But the company also revealed a new feature behind closed doors: the Crossover system, an evolution of the dual-threaded Scenario mechanic from Resident Evil 2, this time not only intersecting the story of different characters but also bringing their gameplay together in four-player co-op situations.
To demonstrate Crossover, Capcom’s developers played a scene where Leon and Helena meet with Jake and Sherry in China. En route via airplane, the US agents are attacked by a B.O.W. (that’s Bio-Organic Weapon for the uninitiated) and crash.
Last week I was in Rome with some friends from Capcom to attend their Captivate event, an annual showcase of what’s in the pipeline for such game series as Street Fighter, Resident Evil, Devil May Cry and Lost Planet. While I could spend a couple of hundred words on fountains and pizza, there is a lot of game news to cover; here’s a handy digest of all the best bits.
The game features three playable characters – Leon S. Kennedy, Chris Redfield and Jake Muller – with three unique, intertwining stories that the player can choose to play through in any order. While the action takes place in various locations around the world, we do know that a large portion is set in China. If you’re wondering who Jake Muller is, he is a new character, a mercenary in Eastern Europe, and the son of maniacal sunglasses advocate, Albert Wesker. We saw a playthrough of some of Leon’s story, set in Tall Oaks University after a bio-terrorist attack that turns the American President into a zombie, forcing Leon to kill him and subsequently face the blame for his murder (that might sound like a spoiler for the whole plot but this all happened in the first four minutes).
Take aim and relive Resident Evil history with the upcoming Resident Evil: Chronicles HD Collection! This two game bundle features both Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles and Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles in glorious high definition with PlayStation Move and trophy support. Play with a friend and survive the horrors of Resident Evil 0, 1, 2, 3, Code Veronica, and more!
Coming this June, the Resident Evil: Chronicles HD Collection will be available for download exclusively on PlayStation 3 in North America and Europe. The collection will initially be sold as a discounted two game bundle, but at a later date, each of the titles will be available for purchase separately.

Ni Hao PlayStation Playas, this is John Diamonon, the Brand Manager for Resident Evil in North America, and it’s been a while my friends. Last time I was here, I announced MvC3 and you were all like, “Yeah!” This time, I have news that’s gonna make you say, “EFF yeah!”
It’s my pleasure to announce that the next installment of the canonical Resident Evil series, Resident Evil 6, returns on November 20, 2012. That gives you a whole month to enjoy the game (enjoy life really) before the end of the Mayan calendar when the real zombie apocalypse happens. We figure you might need some practice killing the infected to prepare yourself. Oops. Did I say zombies? Resident Evil 6 has zombies?
Watch the trailer and find out.
