Strider Hands-on: Remember Your Ninja Training

Posted by Ryan Clements on Oct 10, 2013

Amidst a flurry of snow and the lazy trundle of passing airships, Strider Hiryu blazes across the screen, cutting down any and all that stand in his way. This classic ninja hero returns in Strider, a rebirth of the side-scrolling classic made famous in late ’80s arcades. The new Strider, which launches in early 2014 for PS3 and PS4, enhances the fast-paced spectacle of the original with HD visuals, while preserving the frantic combat and momentum that long-time fans will fondly remember.

Hands-on with Deep Down on PS4: Ambitious Dungeon Crawling

Deepdownlead

Tokyo Game Show was arguably a little light on big, never-before-seen new games this year. Sure, Killzone: Shadow Fall, Driveclub, Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag, Resogun, and the like were all present, correct, and looking very shiny. But if you were after something truly fresh out of the oven, pickings were slim.

Lost Planet 3 PS3 Hands-on: Still Alive

Posted by Ryan Clements on Jul 30, 2013

Lost Planet 3 Jim

Jim Peyton’s wife, Grace, keeps him warm in the ferocious cold of E.D.N. III with her easy smile and knowing looks. Even though she’s off-world, her video messages are enough for Jim, the star of Lost Planet 3. He’s here to do a job, earn some credits, and get back to his family.

It’s easy to see the wild west influences of Capcom’s co-developer, Spark Unlimited, which launches on August 27th in North America.

Resident Evil Revelations Creeps to PS3 May 21 with New Features

Posted by Mike Lunn on Jan 22, 2013

Survival horror fans! I’m super excited today to announce that Resident Evil Revelations is heading to PS3 this May. I know a lot of you guys have been patiently waiting for this one so we’re happy to be bringing you the definitive Resident Evil Revelations experience along with some new extras. For those that haven’t heard of RE Revelations, it’s a little bit different than some of the other Resident Evil titles you may have heard of or played recently. Revelations harkens back to the classic “survival-horror” style gameplay where you’ll be exploring dark, creepy areas with little (and sometimes no) ammo to protect yourself from whatever might be lurking around the next corner.

Face Your Demons: DmC Devil May Cry Hits Blu-ray and PSN Today

Posted by Greg Moore on Jan 15, 2013

The time to face your demons has arrived! DmC Devil May Cry for PlayStation 3 is in stores now, and downloadable from PSN in a day-and-date digital release. We’re really delighted with the final project and I think Ninja Theory did an amazing job of combining existing elements of previous DmCs, while injecting their own flavor into the franchise. Players can definitely expect to see both radically new elements and returning staple elements from past Devil May Cry games.

New to the gameplay are the Demon and Angel powers, which allow (and demand) Dante to switch fluidly between separate sets of abilities and weapons. The Demon side delivers heavy-hitting but slower attacks, while the Angel side unleashes swift area attacks that are relatively low damage.

Quick Hit: Hands-on with Street Fighter X Tekken for PS Vita

Posted by Sid Shuman on Oct 11, 2012

I recently spent some hands-on time with a near-complete version of Street Fighter X Tekken for PS Vita, ahead of its October 23rd PSN and retail launch. And I’ve gotta say, it’s the spitting image of its PS3 bigger brother with big, bold characters and detailed backgrounds running at PS Vita’s native screen resolution. But peer underneath those pretty graphics and you’ll find a wealth of new extras that make this the definitive version of Capcom’s crossover fighter.

The game comes equipped with every DLC fighter from the PS3 version — including PlayStation exclusives Cole McGrath, Kuro, Toro, Mega Man and Pac-Man, of course — as well as alternate costumes for every character in the base roster.
