Greetings Blog-Watchers and EOJ Friends,

I’m happy to announce the next official EOJ Online Tournament, The Dioskuri Tournament, will begin on Thursday next week! In the past, players of official tourneys went head-to-head competing for the best rank on the leaderboard in a given amount of time. The highest ranked players at the end were usually given a special title for eternal online glory.

But this tournament is different.

Since the release of the EOJ Set 3 Expansion, we’ve received many requests for the very rare Set 3 Promo cards, most specifically the Dioskuri card, because of its one of the most powerful cards in the game. These cards are highly sought after since they aren’t available at retail. That is why this new official tournament is so exciting. In The Dioskuri Tournament, the overall winner still gets a special online ranking of “Dioskuri King,” plus all three SET 3 Promo cards … including the Dioskuri card!

But it doesn’t stop there.

If you manage to be one of the top 100 ranked players in the tourney. You get all 3 Promo Cards too! (EBAY not necessary)

So there you go. Now all EOJ players have a chance to get these valuable promo cards so they can add them to their EOJ collection!

Take a look at the official announcement below, prepare your deck, and get ready for battle.

The action begins next week!

The top player will receive an exclusive online ranking title- “Dioskuri King” plus all three Set 3 promo cards, including the ultra rare and extremely powerful Dioskuri Card, and, of course, the sweet pleasure of bragging rights over all others.

The top 100 Players will also receive exclusive Set 3 Promo Cards.

Taking part is easy, just follow these simple steps:

That’s it – You’re entered into the tournament!

Any points you earn from playing “Online Tournament” ranked matches before the close of the tournament will contribute to your position on the tournament leader board.
Good luck to you all and please remember, play fair, have fun and may the best players win!

Heavy Metal Monsters
Finally let’s show off a few of the new Biolith cards. They’re known for being the most destructive cards of all the elements, and the new Set 3 Biolith cards live up to that reputation.

Scion’s Peace (card #283)
Oh the irony of this cards name! When on a Biolith field, this satellite gets perfect dodge which by itself is great, by it doesn’t stop there. Every resolution phase Scion’s Peace gets stronger by 1 attack! Yea, it loses 1 hp every phase until you get down to 1, but when you have perfect dodge it can still be tough to take him out. Now if you really want to pour it on, bring out Scion’s Peace with Scion himself on the board. With this combination of deck 1 and deck 3 cards, Scion’s Peace can be activated for 0 cost! You’ll see a theme here that the combination of deck 3 cards with deck 1 and 2 cards can really make some powerful decks.

Dioskuri
If there ever was a single creature that could change a game in an instant, it’s Dioskuri. This creation is unique in Eye of Judgment in that you must combine 2 cards to summon him. When you combine a Kastor (card #285) and Pollux (card #286), just the summon animation alone is cool enough to want to make this happen, but that’s just the start. If you are able to score the very rare Dioskuri promo card, you can use it on top of either Kastor or Pollux to get him out even easier, so there’s multiple ways to summon him. Dioskuri’s magic attack attacks all enemy creatures for 2 plus both player’s combined mana. Now that is just brutal, but that’s not all! Depending on if you put Pollux on top of Kastor or Kastor on top of Pollux, Dioskuri will do different things. If you put Kastor on top of Pollux to create Dioskuri, the creature steals exit mana from enemies on Biolith fields. If you put Pollux on top of Kastor, all allied creatures on Biolith fields gain 1 HP in each resolution phase!

Hey everyone, Jason ‘USMCOgre’ Greeson from FPQA back to give you EOJ fans another Set 3 sneak peek. Set 3 is almost here and with it comes 100 new cards and tons of new strategies waiting to be discovered. Here’s a heads up on some of the new cards and how they interact with the cards you’ve already been playing with. More Set 3 info to come next week when Set 3 launches on PSN!

Bringing the Heat
The Fire element has been known to be pretty straight forward with physical attacks, and deck 3 brings some new and useful cards to help assist that on top of a couple of new and very useful abilities.

Flame Lizard Barracks (card #216)
Flame Lizard Barracks completely changes strategy as it has the unique ability to let any allied creature move to any empty field, facing any direction instead of using an attack option. Just think of the possibilities. Does your opponent have a card attacking one of yours? Move it next turn to get it out of harms way! A very useful card for any deck.

Torrid Nightmare (card #221)
Like a lot of Church of Parmus cards, Torrid Nightmare has some brutal effects on the opposition. With Torrid Nightmare on the board, each time an allied Church of Parmus creature is destroyed, all other allied creatures gain 1 HP. That alone would make this card a must have for any Church of Parmus deck, but it gets even better. Torrid Nightmare attacks all enemies that are the same race as the target, and if the attack doesn’t kill a target, it loses half of it’s HP. Nightmare seems like a fitting card name to me.

Wet n’ Wild
Water creatures are always crafty and slippery, and the new Water creatures in Set 3 are no exception.

Siam’s Sentinel (card #235)
Siam’s Sentinel lives up to it’s name and then some. Not only does it’s attack hit both fields in front of it, all allied creatures facing the same way as Siam’s Sentinel gain perfect dodge while Siam’s Sentinel is on a non-Biolith field.. Now that would be a welcome addition to any deck.

Missionary Ship (card #239)
The Missionary Ship is one of the most complex and therefore one of the most interesting creatures to appear in Eye of Judgment. It has a laundry list of abilities that when coupled with other cards abilities create fantastic results. First on the list is any time an allied creature is adjacent to the Missionary Ship, the affiliation of all non-Biolith creatures in your library, hand, and on the board change to Church of Parmus. Now couple that with a Torrid Nightmare (card #221) or a Parmetic Vengeress (card #255) and you’ll have some real firepower at your disposal.

Now for the new to Set 3 Interrupt ability. When an enemy creature uses an attack action when Missionary Ship is on a non-Biolith field, you can choose to discard 2 creature cards from your hand to cancel the action! Oh, and your opponent loses the mana the just tried to spend on attacking you.

And yes, there is one more feature to this creature that needs to be revealed. Each time you summon a creature to a non-fire field, you can choose a non-Ultra Rare creature from the library with the same affiliation as the summoned creature, reveal it to the eye, add it to your hand, then shuffle your library.

Getting down and dirty
Earth creatures have been known to cause headaches by flipping fields, and in Set 3 there’s some new tricks that are going to raise some eyebrows for being borderline filthy!

Stone Wing Veteran (card #245)
Have you ever had an opponent on a strict mana budget use cubics to get those high cost cards out? Well the Stone Wing Veteran will make them pay big time. If your opponent sacrifices a creature to summon another, you gain mana equal to the number of open fields. So if the other player starts off the game with a cubic, pull out a Stone Wing Veteran and dare them to sacrifice it!

Callous Gaiakhan (card #257)
Callous Gaiakhan is the hard hitter of the Set 3 Earth creatures. With an attack of 5 plus the total mana of both players, Callous Gaiakhan makes short work of nearly any creature. But on top of it’s amazing attack power, it also gives all adjacent allies +2 protection. Callous Gaiakhan also has a unique ability to 1 magic damage to all adjacent enemies when either player gains mana outside of the mana charge phase while Callous Gaiakhan is on a non-Biolith field.

Going green (and mean!)
The Wood creatures are coming out of the forest to reek havoc on everything in their way by downright causing frustration for opposing players. Whether its looking at the other player’s hand, destroying their mana, or turning your creatures invisible, the Set 3 Wood creatures are ready to go.

Slumbertrap (card #260)
If you’ve ever wanted to know what was in your opponents’ hand so you could plan your strategy accordingly, Slumbertrap was made for you. When you summon a Slumbertrap, your opponent must show you their current hand. That by itself is incredibly useful, but Slumbertrap has another trick up its leaves. If there’s an allied Sleeptrap (card #58 from Set 1) on the board, all allied Plant creatures add 1 to their attack in your resolution phase, making the Slumbertrap a must have for any Plant based deck.

Moggy Howdah (card #270)
Moggy Howdah has one of the most useful abilities in the entire Eye of Judgment world. When you place Moggy Howdah on a non-Biolith field, all allied creatures facing the same direction as Moggy Howdah gain invisibility. Here’s a great tip going with the theme of Set 3 working with Set 1 and 2. If you have an Edin the Persecuted (card # 68) on a Wood Field and Moggy Howdah on a wood field both facing the same direction, they both become invisible as well as any other allied creatures facing the same way.

EOJ Fans – As you may have discovered already, the wait is finally over. Set 3 is slated for an October 16th release on PSN giving players not just 100 new cards, but more gameplay options and features that will change the way EOJ is played.

To introduce the new features that Set 3 will include we thought it would be more interesting for someone from our FPQA (First Party Quality Assurance) team to give you a sneak peek!

As you may or may not know, our testers get the sweet job of playing our games way before they release getting the inside scoop. So without further adieu, it’s my pleasure to introduce- Jason Greeson:

Hey everyone, my name is Jason ‘USMCOgre’ Greeson and I’m going to give you all an inside look at The Eye of Judgment: Set 3. I’ve been lucky enough to work on EOJ for a while now and have been playing Set 3 for the past few months. I’ve seen EOJ come along and progress into what it is today.

The first thing that’s really going to stick out to you veteran EOJ players is the new Bonus Features in the main menu which not only includes some great artwork, but incredibly in-depth storylines for all the elements and all the decks. If you ever wondered what the Eye of Judgment world was like, you’re about to get your answer.

Didi, one of the testers’ favorite cards, has one of the coolest stories of any game character I’ve ever seen. All of the Set 1 heroes have great in depth stories.

And the story behind Scion? You have to read it all to believe it.

Now let’s talk about what really brings everyone here: the new cards and gameplay features. In general, the evolution of the cards as far as abilities from Set 2 to Set 3 is huge. There are so many new creature combinations and spell cards that Set 3 is going to add a ton of new strategy to a game that was never short on strategy to begin with. To give you a taste, here is one of my favorite new Biolith cards.

This chainsaw wielding machine is just downright mean. If your opponent has any cards out with a large amount of HP, they won’t have it out for long if you have a Toxic Intruder ready in your hand. His attack does 2 damage, but here’s the best part: the creature you attack loses half, yes HALF of their HP if they survive the initial attack, even if the initial attack is dodged! This card will get the full attention of any opponent after you use it to take a Fist of Juno from 9 HP to 4 in one quick attack.

There is over 10 new abilities that are going to change the way the game is played. Some of the new abilities allow you to change a cards affiliation. Another makes it so your opponent cannot sacrifice a creature (sorry cubic!). Another even lets you see the opponent’s hand! That’s only 3 of the new abilities. There’s a bunch more and I know you want details on everything, but then what would you look forward to?

But don’t worry, more to come next week when I post more about my favorite Set 3 cards

Good luck to you all and please remember, play fair, have fun and may the best player win!

Hi EOJ Fans,

We hope people have been working on their summoning skills since our last post because we are happy to announce that the Official North American EOJ Tournaments starts this month! You may have noticed our friends in Japan and UK been having their own, now North American players get their chance to prove their skills and their decks!

We reached out to the EOJ community and asked what you wanted the first tournament to be like and got a great response. No Biolith was definitely a common theme as well as limiting Ultra Rares and Mana cost. After considering all that great input, the “CHILDREN OF JUNO” tournament is ready to go live next week on July 17th (6:00 PST) all the way until July 24th! (Check out the official rules after the jump.) You all have 7 days to prove who is the best in North America. The top two players will earn special online ranking titles as proof of their summoning mastery.

We want to thank the great folks at the Official EOJ sites for sharing the great ideas. Be sure to visit them for all the latest EOJ chatter and updates:

Wow.

I think we knew that Free Card Friday was going to go over well, but we had no idea how well. The blog is used to taking in a good amount of traffic, but apparently it wasn’t ready for the EOJ community! We had an overwhelming response and we want to thank everyone who participated. Confirmation emails are going out today to the first 500 people that submitted their info, you should be receiving cards in the next 2 weeks.

For those of you who have been hanging in suspense, sorry for the wait. Thousands of addresses were submitted and there were a “ton” of duplicate entries and incomplete submissions that needed to be scrubbed so now we can finally contact the card winners. So, if you’re wondering why it took so long to get a confirmation, now you know.

For those of you who didn’t score the cards this time around, thanks so much for participating and don’t feel bad. Based on the response last week, we have decided to do …

Free Card Friday PART TWO!!

Note: This is for the folks who “didn’t” score cards last week.

If you were one of the lucky 500 who won, if you submit your info again for Free Card Friday Part 2, it will be counted as a duplicate and removed.

(Sorry ya’ll, but we want to spread the wealth.)

So if you didn’t win last week, be sure to dial into the blog this Friday afternoon (5:00 PM PST) for a “second” chance to get these cards.

Same cards, same rules apply. (Don’t worry- Jeff fortified the PS Blog for the next wave!)

Till then, have a great week!

FREE CARD FRIDAY

Network Update – Version 02.01

We got a message from the EOJ team about an upcoming update that will help fix the concerns that have been surfacing since the SET 2 release. You will see that the team has been paying attention to your concerns and is dedicated to fixing them.
_________

Greetings from the EOJ development team,

This is information regarding the details of the upcoming update. Considering all the feedback from EOJ players, the next update is planned to add new features and to adjust a balance of the game. Currently, the EOJ development team is conducting tests so that the new update can be implemented in the near future. Once the date of the new update has been set, it will be announced.

An additional feature of Battle Animation’s detail settings
If you own the Set 2 Expansion pack, the next update will add a feature to the Battle Animation’s detail settings (SELECT button during a replay), which is currently implemented to “Show replay” mode, to the duels on Battle Arena mode. This addition allows players to set more detailed Battle Animation settings, such as “OFF ([R2] ON)”, “Ultra rare+”, or “Singles Only”, etc… in Battle Arena mode.
* This update only applies if you own the Set 2 expansion pack download

Errata notes to some of the SET.2 cards
In order to improve the quality of duels, a modification to some of the creatures’ abilities will be made. The modification will improve the game play experience for EOJ players. The adjustments are planned for the following 5 creature cards: Noram Zealot (#121), Aluhja Zealot (#137), Visvar Vaas Zealot (#154), Tolicore Zealot (#169), and Biolith Battleship (#184). More detailed information on the adjustments would be released through Errata notes on our EOJ forums and Official Community Sites as soon as the modifications are finalized.

Additional feature for intentional disconnections in Online mode
An extra measure which disturbs online play will be added. When a player disconnects in any way during an online duel, in addition to the current system that imposes a penalty on the player who intentionally disconnected, the new system will grant Honor and Rank points to their opponent whose duel was disconnected against their will.

Your cooperation to continue operating a sound community is sincerely appreciated. Thank you very much for your participation in online duels and following the rules and manners.

Team EOJ
_________

Thats it for us today. Enjoy the weekend.
