Hunters, shooter fans, giant monsters, unite! 2K and Turtle Rock’s multiplayer shooter Evolve is getting a closed “Big Alpha” test later this month. Do you enjoy the occasional, death-defying hunt through exotic alien jungles? Or do you prefer the confidence of a lumbering giant that hurls rocks at prey? Evolve caters to both play styles!
At Gamescom, the Turtle Rock Studios team is excited for people to finally experience what Evolve is all about — mixing and matching characters, monsters, and environments for increased replayability and strategy. It all funnels into the idea that every round is different, and there is always a way to win.
We’re very excited to share a complete match of Evolve with the world for the first time. We’ve done something pretty cool with this trailer by allowing viewers to switch between the feed of any of our four hunters or the monster. We’ve also included a sixth channel to watch along with some great commentary from Aaron “Ayesee” Chambers and Chris Ashton, the co-founder and design director at Turtle Rock Studios.
Turtle Rock’s co-op/competitive shooter hybrid Evolve is coming to PS4 this fall and we’ve bagged us a big one — an interview with Turtle Rock co-founder Phill Robb! Then catch up on TowerFall Ascension and Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn in two new developer interviews, plus next week’s releases.
Four hunters push through the thick of the jungle, muttering warnings and checking their Sound Spikes for activity. The beast has been feeding, and the burst cocoon littering the dark jungle floor betrays the monster’s recent evolution. As the hunters trace the monster’s footprints, it watches them from above, snarling and seething and ready to strike. High tension moments like these are often relegated to cutscenes in video games. But in Evolve, it’s all just part of the game.
