We’re back, well-rested after last week’s GDC, and ready to return to our regularly scheduled Blogcasting. This week, we considered spoiling BioShock Infinite (we’ll save that for next week), gushed about the simple-yet-sensational Divekick, and interviewed industry luminary Keiji Inafune. All this, along with next week’s new PSN releases, a selection of 100% organic listener tips and voicemails, and much more.
We’re excited to finally announce our launch date and pricing details for Guacamelee! The game will be released on April 9th in the Americas, and will support Cross-Buy for $14.99. This means you buy the game once and get both the PS3 and PS Vita versions. And that’s not all… there’s also a Platinum Trophy!
Itching to play The Last of Us? Heading to Boston next week? Be one of the first to go hands-on with the game at PAX East! Gameplay demos will be happening in a custom-designed setting modeled after one of the game’s locales. What’s more, the demo itself is set in Boston, after the city has been decimated by the Cordyceps infection. Hands-on time is limited for each player, but if you manage to reach the end of the demo you’ll be rewarded with one of our tension bricks (that we’ve playfully named Brock).
Back by popular demand: The PlayStation Campus Tour is hitting the road again for the Spring semester and we’re going bigger and better than ever. Starting next Monday, we will be crashing college campuses across the country for 11 weeks, bringing you new and unreleased games, daily tournaments, tons of giveaways, exclusive discounts on PlayStation products and a whole lot more! If that doesn’t have you salivating yet, take a look at some of the titles we will be featuring throughout the tour.
On top of that, you can get hands-on with some awesome PSN titles like Guacamelee, Ibb and Obb, and Runner 2! And that’s just a taste of what’s to come. We will be adding more of this year’s biggest and most anticipated PS3 and PS Vita games to the lineup over the course of the tour.
I can say with considerable confidence that today’s episode is our biggest and best yet, weighing in at a groan-inducing (but quality-packed!) two hours and 10 minutes. Our time at PAX Prime last week yielded sweet fruit in the form of five new game developer interviews, and each one is a treat. First, indie developer Matt Gilgenbach discusses how his new PSN-exclusive “reverse shooter” Retro/Grade changed his life; from there, we shift to Snapshot, the charming PS3 and PS Vita platform puzzler that enables players to manipulate their environment through photographs.
Hello good-looking, internet-savvy PlayStation.Blog readers. Now that you’ve been buttered up a bit, DrinkBox Studios is excited to announce that our new Mexican-themed co-op-multiplayer dimension-swapping Metroid-vania beat-em-up platformer, titled Guacamelee!, will be released through the PlayStation Pub Fund program!
If you have never heard of Guacamelee! the best thing to do is to open your mind, relax, and watch the above trailer.
I know what you are probably thinking…“What is this ‘Pub Fund’? And what does this mean for ME?”
