You saw through their eyes and guided their actions, but do you really know what drives Tomas ‘Sev’ Sevchenko and Rico Velasquez? Sam Bradbury does – for his novelization of Killzone 3, the author delved deep into the game’s story to answer these and other questions. We sat down with Sam for a short Q & A about Killzone: Ascendancy.
Killzone.com: What was the most challenging part of writing Killzone: Ascendancy?
Sam Bradbury: It was maintaining the excitement and forward momentum of the game as well as delivering the depth and insight that readers expect from a novel. And there were times when the gameplay elements were incompatible with the demands of a book, so working to make them gel and complement each other was demanding, but of course very fulfilling when it all comes together.
The SOCOM 4: U.S. Navy SEALs testing pool is about to get even bigger! Starting tomorrow, at 12:00am Pacific, the SOCOM 4 voucher codes that were included as giveaways with Killzone 3 (and at our PAX East 2011 booth) become active. This new influx of players will join the existing crowd of previously introduced PlayStation Plus and Private beta testers, and will have all the same privileges as the one-week and two-week vets.
If you didn’t receive an early access voucher or don’t have a PlayStation Plus account, don’t fret! Starting April 5th, the all-access beta will be openly available for download through the PlayStation Store. While the beta download will be removed from the store with the April 12th PlayStation Store publish, SOCOM 4 Beta servers will be up and running until April 13th.
We’re happy to present a live action short that takes place before the events of the Killzone games. Some of you may have read the back story on Killzone.com and found out about the origins of the Helghast, the start of the war, etc. We’ve been looking for ways to add a personal touch to this back story. We found a team that was able to transform it into a live action short, which tells the story of two friends from different backgrounds, who are separated and become increasingly alienated from one another.
In the short, we listen in on video communications between the two friends, one on Vekta and one recently exiled to Helghan.
We hope you enjoy this small glimpse into what life was like before the war started in Killzone!
To show our appreciation to all you Killzone fans, we will be holding a “March for Helghan II Sweepstakes,” where you have a chance to win a Killzone 3 Limited Helghast Edition just for playing Killzone 3 online multiplayer. Starting Friday, March 25th (that’s tomorrow!) and running through Sunday, April 10th, we’ll be giving away 10 Limited Helghast Editions each day for 17 straight days. Members of the Killzone 3 team will log on to PlayStation Network throughout the sweepstakes and randomly select players in multiplayer matches. We will not select players more than once during the sweepstakes, and will notify winners via the email address associated with their PSN account.
