Daniel Maniago's Avatar + Posted by Daniel Maniago on Aug 29, 2012

Penny Arcade Expo (also known as PAX) has become one of the biggest celebrations of video games, video game developers, and video game players in the world. We’re excited to attend the show this year to show off PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale to the masses. To give you a sneak peek at some of the content you’ll be able to play on the show floor, we’re actually unveiling one of our new characters a little early. Lucky you!

We’re excited to finally announce the addition of Konami’s Raiden from the Metal Gear Solid series to our roster! Raiden’s appearance in PlayStation All-Stars marks the first time he has been playable in a fighting game, so we hope you’re all as hyped as we are to finally see him in action against the likes of Dante, Kratos, Heihachi, Cole MacGrath and other high-profile fighters. With his high-frequency blade and cyborg ninja abilities, how does he stack up against the rest of the cast?

You headed to PAX? We hope so, because we’ve got a whole lotta goodness coming up to Seattle! Aside from the great things you’ll be seeing from Naughty Dog, you’ll get to check out the following from our Community Team and some of our biggest franchises.

We’re heading to PAX Prime! Along with PAX East, this is one of the most exciting conventions of the year for us as PAX always features some of the best panels, the most passionate fans, and we’re all there for one thing: gaming.

For everyone who stops by to check out the demo, we’ll have exclusive PAX Prime 2012 t-shirts for you.

Over the course of the show we will also be giving away 11×17 posters to hang on your wall or plaster around town. The poster features custom artwork by Alexander Iaccarino — That Kid who Draws — made specifically for PAX Prime. It’s pretty amazing.

Borderlands 2: PAX East Returns to Pandora

This weekend at the Borderlands 2 booth, we granted PAX East visitors chance to play with two brand-new characters for Borderlands 2 — Salvador the Gunzerker and Maya the Siren — in a new environment called the Caustic Caverns. The Gunzerker and Siren classes have made great strides compared to their counterparts from the original game. Players who choose to play as Salvador will be able to use his Gunzerking ability to run into a crowd with two guns blazing. If you played the first game, you may recognize this as an evolution of Brick’s Berserking skill. Meanwhile, Maya’s new Siren skill Phaselock isolates an enemy inside a phase bubble for a short time. Once you’ve Phaselocked a target, your primary choice is whether to focus your fire on the helpless foe before it breaks free or mop up any other threats nearby. Decisions, decisions!

Borderlands has a strong history of co-op gameplay and that’s still a core promise of this game. At PAX, we watched as Siren players Phaselocked an enemy, leaving an opening for the Gunzerker buddy to run up, dual-wielding, and take out the target just in the nick of time.
