Wizorb is a unique combination of classic block-breaking action and light RPG elements. The game features a charming a pixel art style, an engaging storyline, epic boss fights, and various worlds to explore.

You play as Cyrus, a mighty wizard versed in a secret magic art called Wizorb! The game begins in a small town of the Kingdom of Gorudo that was ravaged by monsters -- your goal is to help citizens rebuild their home by earning money and completing levels. Like any classic RPG, you can explore the town and interact with its inhabitants. If you're lucky, they may reward you with useful items in return for your help.

The game’s action happens in small levels filled with blocks and enemies that players must destroy, using a ball and a paddle — fans of old-school block-breaking games will feel right at home here. In addition to breaking bricks, players can employ a multitude of different magic spells, like fireballs, teleportation, and summoning a gust of wind to alter the ball’s path. Be careful though: magic is not an unlimited resource, and you’ll need to collect potions from broken blocks or merchants to keep using it.

Here’s a fancy bullet list detailing just a few of Wizorb’s features:

An all-new block-breaking game set in a fantasy world

Use your magic wand to bounce the orb and cast various magic spells

Over 60 levels in 5 different worlds

Epic boss fights, multiple endings and bonus levels

Character animation by Paul Robertson (http://probertson.tumblr.com), the animator behind Pirate Baby’s Cabana Battle Street Fight 2006, Kings of Power 4 Billion Percent, and Scott Pilgrim vs. The World

Following on from the success of the original Cubixx we’ve added more – lots more, in fact. Cubixx HD now features 50 levels of arcade action playable in both single player and seven-player co-op. All these levels are also playable in Time Attack, Score Attack and Line Attack modes, with up to seven players competing at once and featuring over 150 online leaderboards and 50 addictive Challenges. Ruthless players can engage in the cold-blooded mayhem of Deathmatch mode, again supporting up to seven players.

Cubixx HD also features a whole new cast of enemies. Aside from the returning Cubixx and Line Chasers there are the villainous Homers who will chase after you and slow you down, Asteroids that will rain death and destruction upon you and the almighty Black Hole that attracts nearby objects.

As you can see, I’m a massive fan of Cubixx HD but obviously I’m going to be a bit biased seeing as I worked on this fantastic game, so how does this little quote from Official PlayStation Magazine UK’s 8 out of 10 review for Cubixx HD sound?

“The controls are smooth, the soundtrack is brilliantly pitched, and not since we had a post-op morphine pump has anything screamed ‘just one more go’ louder. It’s adamantium-boulder tough at times, but there’s never anyone to blame for failure but yourself. And for the stubborn among us, that’s the killer.”

We’ve been receiving great reviews from all over the world. Eurogamer.net awarded the game 8 out of 10 describing it as “murderously addictive” and calling it the greatest incarnation of the area-capture game style ever created, while The Sixth Axis also gave it 8 out of 10, saying it “hovers on the cusp of absolute, delightful joy”. The Koalition awarded Cubixx HD 9 out of 10, calling it “an essential PSN purchase.”

Cubixx HD hits the PlayStation Store on September 20th in North America for $9.99, exclusively on PS3.

Hello all! You may remember Mediatonic’s work from such audacious adventures as Monsters (Probably) Stole My Princess and Who’s That Flying?! Today, we’re massively excited to reveal details of our third, rum-soaked PlayStation minis title 1000 Tiny Claws for PlayStation.Blog readers! The response to our previous games has been overwhelming and hugely appreciated – and as with those minis titles, we’ve tried to load as much of what you loved into 1000 Tiny Claws as humanly possible.

First, a short-and-sweet summary for those who are too busy to read a rambling blog post from some guy at some games company:

Your legendary sky-pirate crew may have been responsible for unleashing an apocalyptic curse of giant insects upon the world – and now there’s only 24 hours to save their necks from the hangman’s noose! First Mate Rana sets out to smash her way through the relentless scuttling horde in a sword-swinging arcade battler set against an epic backdrop of sky-islands and piracy!

Can you survive against overwhelming odds? Deploy combo attacks and running swipes, blocks and dodges, then use devastating special moves to turn the tables on the swarm and send the bugs spiralling into the clouds. Just make sure you keep solid ground beneath your own feet at the same time…

· Story mode featuring 25 levels over five exotic stages
· 12 Unique enemies
· 3 Epic Boss battles
· 5 Survival Mode Stages
· 25 Challenge Mode Stages
· 16 Revealing Ship’s Log entries to discover
· 15 Awesome Awards to place in your Treasure Room
· 6 Animated Piratical cut-scenes

The integral game mechanic is Rana’s ability to send enemies scattering over the edge of the island, first by weakening them with sword swipes, and then using a huge swipe to eliminate them. We spent a lot of time making this as satisfying a possible – so you can also bounce the bugs off of scenery, or knock over big bugs and swipe them along the ground to clear a pathway when things start to heat up!

Your goal is simple: stay on the island and survive. But that’s not an easy task with different varieties of Swarm insects fighting back with a variety of unique attacks. And as the waves quickly ramp up in difficulty, you’ll need to use every trick at your disposal to prevail.

The Story Mode will feature animated cut-scenes, following the crew’s 24-hour race against time to “reverse a curse” (a witch-doctor-approved term) over 25 action-packed stages and five beautiful island regions – plus some huge boss encounters!

The Challenge Mode, on the other hand, will require different strategies and techniques if you want to earn those gold medals over 25 stages. We played with the core mechanics here to create a real range of play styles for each type of challenge.

We’re very proud of 1000 Tiny Claws. It’s been a blast to make and we can’t wait for you guys to play it and to let us know what you think. We’re currently in QA, and if all goes well…

*crossing fingers/sacrificing our first-born to the gods of PlayStation QA*

…1000 Tiny Claws should be hitting the PlayStation Store in October.

We consider iFun4All one of the worst developers in the world, let alone Europe. We’re a small team, consisting mostly of a few talentless drunkards scattered about a few remote villages. With our limited funds and even more limited access to power and internet, creating truly great games just isn’t a real possibility. We instead decided to go the other way, and set out to create the worst games of all time.

We were well on our way with our first title, Crap of Defense for the iPhone and iPod touch… but in what we feel is a certain conspiracy to thwart our goal, various media outlets actually gave Crap of Defense great scores! We thought we would have better luck with our next title, Paper Wars: Cannon Fodder that was initially released in our native Europe…but we AGAIN were thwarted with positive reviews, including a perfect 10/10 from PSPminis.com!

We’re hoping for better luck with Paper Wars: Cannon Fodder over here in the states, so we decided to work with our friends over at PlayStation.Blog to debut this brand new trailer that shows just how awful this game truly is. In this dreadful tower defense game, you’ll be forced to wade through terrible art, music and tons of typos in order to obliterate a sea of poorly drawn and animated advancing enemy soldiers. Each crappy mission is more challenging than the last, and using special power-ups and weapons, you’ll be hard-pressed to rack up the requisite amount of “killz” without letting enemies through your defenses to advance.

We hope that you enjoy this new trailer and are able to laugh at how bad it looks. We also sincerely hope that you aren’t taken in by all the positive reviews and buzz this game has been receiving and can objectively look at Paper Wars: Cannon Fodder to decide whether or not we succeeded in our goal of creating the worst game ever!

Mediatonic is a small indie games studio based in the UK. Earlier this year we released the PlayStation minis game Monsters (Probably) Stole My Princess!.

Today, I’m super excited to reveal the first details of our brand new PlayStation minis title — Who’s That Flying!? This summary from the games writer and producer Jim is a great overview on what you can expect:

You are the mysterious and powerful creature known only as the “Guardian of Earth.” Your steely eye and HYPER-POWERED LASER ARM have kept the citizens of Earth safe for generations (as well as proving a hit with the ladies).

With all your awesome TALENT and FLAIR, surely it would be IMPOSSIBLE for a sudden and devastating invasion of colossal Doom Beasts to descend on your cities and cause havoc without your knowledge? (Even if you were MAYBE showboating for a magazine photo shoot at the time…)

Now, you must not only defend your cities from the ravenous hordes of Doom Beasts, you must defend yourself against accusations of gross incompetence from the Galactic Council of Justice! And this is all BEFORE you can even start to get to the bottom of just who OR what is really behind the attacks…

It’s a side-scrolling shooter meets tower defense (with courtroom drama and intrigue!) doused in sheer awesomeness… AND THEN SET ON FIRE.

At the centre of the game is the Story mode, which follows the hero through 15 levels across six worlds protecting the Earth from the invasion of the Doom Beasts. Like our previous game Monsters (Probably) Stole My Princess, the story mode in WTF?! features beautiful animated cut-scenes as you unravel the mysteries of the invasion. In WTF?! these scenes are set in the chambers of the Galactic council with the Guardian of Earth being interviewed on his actions.

The game’s core mechanic is a mixture of side-scrolling shooting and tower defense. As the hero you must prevent a certain number of enemies from escaping into the city in each level in order to save the city from the invasion.

As the ultra-powerful hero you’re both awesome and indestructible, but getting hit will put you out of action for a while — giving your enemies a chance to escape. If you let too many enemies past you, the city will be destroyed and you’ll lose the level.

In addition to the Story mode, the game has four different “infinite” mode levels and a special challenge mode with 25 unique challenges to tackle. We’ve managed to squeeze in a lot of great content.

We’ve finished the game and are currently going through the age-rating process, so at present we’re anticipating a launch in early September. For breaking news on the game as it happens you can follow us on Twitter.

If anyone has any questions I’m happy to answer them — just post them in the comments below!

Attention Speed Demons: WipEout – one of PlayStation’s most celebrated and longest-running franchises – turns 15 this year. To celebrate this momentous occasion, we’re launching the WipEout Museum – a brand new space stuffed to the brim with games based upon this critically-acclaimed series of hypersonic, futuristic racers. From the Team Logo Hunt questing game to the breakneck fury lying within in the WipEout 2D arcade cabinets; the point-and-blast excitement of the WipEout Shooter to the interactive DJ area (where you can crank your favorite tracks and pump yourself up for the impending races), the WipEout Museum is the premier destination for fans of the long line of classic, gravity-defying titles that make up the WipEout universe.

In other news, we’ll be opening the doors of the new Observatory space this Thursday, July 8th, for the PlayStation minis event. Challenge your friends to a battle of wits, memory, and luck over a board consisting of a grid of glowing tiles. Flip the tiles over to reveal a variety of minis images; reveal two matching tiles to score a point. To keep things interesting, we’ve riddled the board with random tiles hiding bonuses and traps (such as a tile that steals points from your opponent). You can even hide traps of your own, weakening your opponent and securing the spoils (which, of course, come in the form of a highly-collectible reward). Elsewhere in the Observatory you will find the pool-esque FreezeBall game, which rounds out the exclusive PlayStation minis event.

In terms of other events to keep you busy over the upcoming weekend, we’ve just received a report of an imminent outbreak of red scorpions in the Sodium Hub:

“Coming heat waves are predicted to cause numbers of red robotic scorpions in the Sodium Hub to swell! Experts predict numbers will reach their peak this weekend. Do your part to keep the Sodium Hub safe by donning your stomp boots and keeping the red scorpion menace at bay over the coming days. Remember, the more red scorpions you stomp the greater level of upgrade you’ll earn for your stomp boots. And that’s not all; each progressive Stomp Boot upgrade will increase the number of points awarded to you for stomping red scorpions when worn!”

As far as updates to the PlayStation Home Mall go, Just Cause 2 clothing and furniture items (including Rico and Tom Sheldon costumes) will be released alongside new Lockwood/Sodium clothing items (new stilettos for the ladies), <del>the mega-popular Trigger Happy-in-the-Box game from the Midway space will be made available for use in your clubhouses and personal spaces (available at a discounted price of $0.49 for those of you who have purchased the Midway Bar Key – likewise, if you purchase the Trigger Happy-in-the-Box game at its full price of $2.99 you will get a discount on the Midway Bar Key),</del> new Monkey Island 2 items will appear in the LucasArts store, and our friends at LOOT will release the new LOOT Mobile Internet Browser item, which allows you to access the Sony Pictures Emporium website from your personal space.
Last but certainly not least, we want to invite you all out to our nightly Featured Game parties to play the latest and greatest PS3 and PSN games with your friends in PlayStation Home. To participate in a Featured Game party, simply go to the Gamer’s Lounge between 4:00pm and 8:00pm PDT (7:00pm and 11:00pm EDT). Then we’ve got great news: On July 6th we release the very first PlayStation mini game in the hidden object genre, a popular genre among casual gamers. Meet The Mystery of the Crystal Portal, a game that will challenge your attention and associative skills.

From the very start of the game you’re involved in an adventure. You meet the journalist Nicole Rankwist, whose archeologist father disappeared during his study of the mysterious Crystal Portal, and together with Nicole you start your search of Mr. Rankwist. During your quest you visit various locations around the world, and in each location you are required to find hidden objects and thus, unlock the next scene with more puzzling tasks. The gameplay has a twist in that hidden objects in each scene are brought together in sets, and often objects of one set will be revealed only after you find all objects of another set in the same scene. These brain-teasers keep you excited throughout the game, so that you don’t want to put it down!
