Fun fact of the day: Trailers used to be shown at the end of a movie. Hence the name trailer. Because it trailed the mov- you know what, you probably got it. Eventually, the marketing people woke up and realized that no one sticks around after a film, so they moved it to the beginning. However, the name “trailer” stuck. Probably because the name “beginnier” is lamer than my 17th birthday (it involved a gluten-free cake and a Pauly Shore marathon – you do the math). Nowadays, marketing people have gotten even savvier. You can watch a trailer – on the internet! Now you don’t have to drain your 401k watching Jason Statham punch various objects and/or people just to get a glimpse at the trailer for whatever beacon of enjoyable entertainment that’s on the horizon.
The first thing that comes to mind when most people think of Ratchet & Clank (aside from Qwark’s dashing good-looks and unflappable courage) is the incredible arsenal of weaponry. The Insomniac Games team has always prided themselves on delivering out-of-this-world weaponry that gives you all kinds of wacky ways to turn your enemies into space dust. In honor of that long lineage of weaponry, we’re kicking off our gameplay video series with four videos highlighting the weapons you’ll find in Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One.

We have our winners! After long, thoroughly entertaining hours of pouring over the skin designs you submitted in April, Insomniac’s Ratchet & Clank experts have chosen their favorite skin designs for Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One. And let me tell you, it wasn’t easy…
There were a ton of truly amazing designs submitted! However, in the end, Insomniac’s panel of judges felt that these entries best exemplified the wacky, fan-inspired quality they were looking for, while still fitting into the game world as in-game DLC items. So, without further ado, here are your winners:
Today, the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences (AIAS) and the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) announced the winners for the 2011 Into The Pixel collection, the only juried art exhibition that brings together experts from the traditional fine art world and the interactive entertainment industry to display and discuss the art of video games. We’re excited to share that art from four exclusive PlayStation titles have been chosen to be included in this year’s list of winners – UNCHARTED 3: Drake’s Deception, Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One, Killzone 3 and God of War III. The ITP has selected only 17 pieces of art to be included in this prestigious collection, so this is a true honor for SCEA and our developers.

We’re less than two weeks away from E3 2011 and the Ratchet & Clank team is hard at work prepping for what will no doubt be an awesome event full of surprises, game updates and the inevitable “Who Won?” arguments. But who said you had to wait until E3 to get it started? We’ll go ahead and kick it off today.

From April 18th to April 29th, 2011, Insomniac Games is giving you the chance to redesign Ratchet & Clank with your very own skin that they’ll pretty up and integrate into the game itself.
Yesterday in Los Angeles, we presented a new demo of Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One to an audience of US and European journalists. While we presented some new levels and weapons/gadgets, we also wanted to show once again that All 4 One is a sprawling new Ratchet & Clank adventure, with a full story, big arsenal, and tons of co-op mayhem. Further, in All 4 One, we like to say there’s an “I” in team: work together, but reward yourself. You all have to help each other out, but at the same time, the winner will earn the best rewards and get the first chance to buy the newest weapons in the game.
