LittleBigPlanet 2: Mm Picks

It’s time to take a look at some of the amazing creations being published by the community in our weekly LittleBigPlanet 2: Mm Picks.

We start this week’s showcase with Octagon Dial by tksksmz2, a mind-bending puzzler of a game that will see you twisting and switching colors around with the aim to get three of the same color in a row! Incredibly addictive and quite the challenge, have a go and see if you can get the high-score!

It’s time to get really retro in our next level, which was created by Mr_Hijinx.

Bunchy’s Adventure is a wonderful 8-bit extravaganza that sees the titular Bunchy the Bird collecting gems and jumping on enemies to reach his tomato nemesis. – A truly classic gaming adventure.

Our last stop this week is the brilliantly bouncy, Bounce of Galaxy! by LBPCreatorKit.

We’re back in familiar territory with some classic Sackboy platforming here… Well, as familiar as you can get with Sackboy when he’s bouncing all over a space station in a whacky adventure! – As an extra game, see if you can count how many times Sackboy bounces in the video below:

This week’s Team Pick is Xenomooch by tsr13. Xenomooch is a pun and fun filled point-and-click adventure game set in space. It will take some time to play through it all, but thanks to some clever use of the Memoriser you can come back to it later and continue from where you left off.

Start Your Engines! New Karts Available Now!

Sackboy has a brand new selection of Karts available to add to his garage in LittleBigPlanet Karting.

Nothing says speed better than these vehicles from the LittleBigPlanet Emergency Services!

You may be driving a Police Car or an Ambulance but don’t expect other Sackfolk to pull over for you and let you overtake them in the middle of a race! It’s LittleBigPlanet Karting and every racer is in it for themself!

Race on over to our Game Add-Ons Catalogue to check out these rather fab new vehicles, and whilst you’re there, take a moment to peruse all of the DLC Costumes that are now available for LittleBigPlanet Karting!

Last week we released the Garfield and Odie Minipack. Since we’re such big fans of this lovable duet, we have put together this special wallpaper to celebrate the release of the new pack.

The Garfield and Odie Minipack includes the two costumes pictured in the wallpaper, along with an assortment of Garfield and Odie stickers to help fulfill your creative needs.

Groundhog Day Costume Returns

This coming Saturday is Groundhog Day! To celebrate the occasion, the Groundhog Costume will be making an appearance on PlayStation Store.

This cute costume is free and will be on the PlayStation Store for one week only. So don’t miss out on picking up this cheerful groundhog from the store before it scurries away for another year.

LittleBigPlanet 2: Mm Picks

This week in the LittleBigPlanet 2: Mm Picks we begin with My Robot Factory, which will see Sackboy running upside-down on Attract-O-Gel and teleporting around as he jumps into Worm Holes in a robotic platforming adventure.

If running up walls and teleporting all over the place isn’t enough for you, then perhaps you’ll like Simple Pleasures. This deceptively named level will see Sackboy in a race against time as he runs through the level and performs wall-jump after wall jump to reach the ever-elusive Scoreboard at the end of the level.

Finishing up our weekly selection of LittleBigPlanet 2: Mm Picks, we have Rollerball. This heart-pounding race level will see you taking the form of a ball, as you race against your friends, or some rather clever AI, to see who the fastest Rollerball racer is.

A Very Tasty Thank You

We end this week with a rather lovely story about a visit paid by Tony_Too to our SCE Benelux studio, so he could give the team a cake as a thank you for having his Winter Epicness level reach out to 100,000 different racers on LittleBigPlanet Karting.

I didn’t get to try the cake for myself but I’m reliably informed that it was both very well-received and delicious, so the folks in Benelux would like to say a big thank you for the gift.

Playmakers looks into the latest innovations for creating and learning. Some time ago they paid a visit to Media Molecule to take a look into how LittleBigPlanet is leading the way in community development and community game design.

Take a look at this video from their visit and you’ll be able to hear some of the Molecule’s very own insights on just how LittleBigPlanet is a new and exciting learning tool that has helped develop a community full of game designers and reviewers.

LittleBigPlanet Karting: Game Update 1.02 – “The Online Patch”

On December 4th, the latest update for LittleBigPlanet Karting went live. Important changes and improvements include:

• Numerous online syncing improvements
• Repaired crashes / locks related to playing online
• General performance fixes (online and offline)
• A number of Controlinator-related fixes (some related to online syncing)
• General navigation improvements for the “Monster Trucks” Story Mode track (in The Progress Emporium)

What a whirlwind year this has been for LittleBigPlanet, we recently released two brand new games and we’re now heading into December, which can only mean one thing — Christmas is on the way!

Over the next month, we will be featuring some especially themed Winter Wonderland Mm Picks and Team Picks, so be sure to start working on your holiday creations and send them our way. We’re excited to announce the winners of the official LittleBigPlanet Karting 2012 Video Contest! We had tons of submissions, so we narrowed them down to a final Top Ten that we felt best showcased both the community’s imagination and the overall creativity of the game. We put each entry through a rigorous judging process and they all received thousands of votes, but in the end the winners were clear. Drum roll please…

The Grand Prize winner is Todd Doldersum! For anyone who saw Todd’s entry, Fueled By Imagination, you know why it won. It’s a great video that truly captures the ethos of LittleBigPlanet Karting, and we’re thrilled that it’ll be running on TV as the official fan-made commercial for the game.

Now for the 2nd Prize winner — the winner of the public vote — put your hands together for Daniel Mitchell! We loved his entry Rocket Chair Race, and clearly you did too. We just can’t help but smile when we watch it. (And we appreciate the nod to cats with laser eyes too.) Nice work Daniel!

The Halloween Pumpkin Mask Returns!

It just wouldn’t be Halloween without Sackboy’s favorite pumpkin headwear! This means that the Halloween Pumpkin Mask will be returning to PlayStation Store this week.

This free costume piece will be available for one week only, so be sure to head to the store and pick up this popular costume for Sackboy’s Halloween adventures.

You may have noticed by now that things are getting a little darker on LittleBigPlanet… The LittleBigPlanet 2: Mm Picks have been featuring some downright spooky levels filled with plenty of Halloween frights!

There’s plenty more frights and surprises on LittleBigPlanet at the moment, so if you feel that your Sackperson is brave enough, queue up the levels in this Halloween Hauntings LBP.me List and check them out when you’re next playing LittleBigPlanet 2! Oh, and make sure that your Sackperson is wearing a suitably creepy costume, since it’s Halloween after all!
