There is whole new community of great creators springing up with their copies of ModNation Racers: Road Trip for PS Vita. It’s time for them to join the ranks of their fellow ModNation-ites and rise up to once again lay claim to the crown and the glory befitting “The Greatest Community of Creators The World Has Ever Seen” (or something like that).
So, ModNation: SHOW US YOUR (or others’) GREAT CREATIONS!
Don’t be shy. Really. We mean it. We’ve got a fever and the only prescription is more
Here is what we are looking for…
Associate Producer Josh Hart and I recently snuck out of the studio a little early on a Friday to go on, well… a short “road trip” to Hollywood, CA (or La La Land as SoCal natives like to call it) to experience the fun new feature in ModNation Racers: Road Trip – “Mod Explorer”.
Upon receiving a loan from the bank to pay for gas we trekked up the 5 Freeway on our way to our first location for a “Destination Check-in” – beautiful Grauman’s Chinese Theatre.
Quickly making our way through the gathering of “celebrity” look-a-like street performers on Hollywood Blvd. one of the “entertainers” (in a square yellow sponge outfit) convincingly hustled my attention for a photo-op. In a surprising low baritone voice said spongeman instructed me that he worked for “generous” tips.
Alright MLB The Show fans, it is time to get off the couch. This year with MLB 12 The Show, you now can play the entire game (Pitching, Batting, Fielding, and Base running) using the PS Move motion controller. When we designed the controls, the overall goal was to make it as intuitive and natural as possible. Once you play it and become familiar with the controls, you will start to feel a natural connection between playing our game and playing baseball as if you were out on a diamond.
When we designed the pitching controls, the idea was to promote going through the actual motion of throwing a pitch. In order to do that, we decided to tie the velocity of the pitch to how far you reach back (away from the PS Eye) to set your “potential power” and how fast you swing your arm through to determine your “actual power”. This way, if you try to pitch by just flicking your wrist, sure you can get the Move to recognize that speed, but since you do not pull back during the wind-up, you will not be able to use 100% of your potential power.
Show Fans – We’re proud to make claim that MLB The Show on PS3 is the highest-rated sports game on the market for the past 4 years. With only days left before MLB 12 The Show hits store shelves, we know many of you plan to not only pick up the PS3 version but are anxious to pick up the all-new PS Vita version as well.
One of the most important goals for us each year is to listen to our consumers and try our best to address their concerns. Over the past several weeks, we’ve heard you loud and clear – consumers who purchase both should be rewarded with a discount – and we agree. Starting on March 6th, we’ll be offering a $20 instant discount, for anyone who purchases both MLB 12 The Show on PS3 and on PS Vita, together during the same transaction at checkout.
Wow, here we are! ModNation Racers: Road Trip is out and the feedback from gamers who’ve played the game sounds like they are loving it. Personally, I must confess to being a little more than enamored with the game and my PlayStation Vita; so much so that I couldn’t wait any longer to get my copy of the game. I actually purchased mine at retail a week early because… well, “I’m not only the Community Manager for ModNation Racers, but I’m also a client”! lol. True, but lol.
I honestly don’t think you can beat the gaming value found in ModNation Racers: Road Trip. For $29.99 you have in your possession well over a lifetime of great, and most importantly, fun kart racing experiences. I could go on and on singing the game’s praises ad-nauseam (too late!) but no expensive, highfalutin, big city words can describe the experience until you have the game in your hands. In our ModNation Labs research we found the term “Wow!” came closest to an accurate description.
What a great week to be in the ModNATION!
We present you our labor of love – ModNation Racers: Road Trip. She’s* all yours now so take care of her. Bring her to nice places. Introduce her to your friends, neighbors, and co-workers. Take pictures with her and post them to your Facebook page. Treat her right and she’ll stay by your side forever, most importantly… take her for a spin at least three times a day! Trust me, she loves it!
In just a few short days, ModNation Racers: Road Trip will hit store shelves alongside the release of the much-anticipated PS Vita! Our team at San Diego Studios has worked very hard to produce what we think is the best portable kart-racing game on the market. We’ve added many new features (see below) to the already acclaimed ModNation Racers franchise and we are quite excited to finally get them into the hands of gamers everywhere.
Sure, it may sound a bit silly to the uninitiated but the Mod, Karts, and Tracks YOU create become a small extension of yourself. You experience a sense of e-pride (just made that word up) similar to whipping out your wallet to show pictures of your gorgeous wife and kids to anyone who will listen. You’ll notice a grin on your face and a slight swell in your heart (admit it or not) the first time you hand your PS Vita and ModNation Racers: Road Trip to a friend as they “ooh and ahhhh” at YOUR “genius” creations.
Sports fans –
I’m psyched to give you a sneak peak at the new Miami Marlins ballpark in South Beach, courtesy of MLB 12 The Show. Have a look at where new acquisitions Jose Reyes, Mark Buehrle, and Heath Bell will be calling home this year…
After winning two World Series in less than 20 years since their inaugural 1993 season, 2012 ushers in a name change and a new ballpark for the Marlins. Before we could add this new ballpark to MLB 12 The Show, we had to gather as much information as possible in order to faithfully recreate every inch of this stadium exactly as it stands in Miami.
