Here at Sucker Punch we’re tired. We’re whipped. Game development is a sprint. You run as hard as you can, then keep running. The problem is the goal line sometimes move mid-race. When you set out to make a game you sort of have an idea of what it’ll ultimately be… but that’s not what it ends up being. You only know what you’ve made once it’s done. Like you guys we experience the game, the real game, for the first time at the end of the road. And it’s exciting. It’s crazy to be playing the game and forget that you made it because you’re busy ducking an RPG rocket. You know that feeling you get when you actually dodge in your seat? Get that all the time. Cole and his friends have stopped being polygons and actors and have become real people. And it’s this reality that makes today’s post cool. Now that we’re so, so close to being done we can finally really talk about the “Big Bad” that pushes the whole story forward.
It’s been a bit since we gave the skinny on the inFAMOUS 2 Hero Edition and now we’ve finally got a copy in the office and can do a proper unboxing of this sweet collection of inFAMOUS 2 goodness. So, to quote Brad Pitt in Seven…..”WHAT’S IN THE BOX!?!”
Let us begin….if you see this on your local store shelf or favorite retailer website and you are a fan of inFAMOUS…..grab it! (Oh, and pay for it of course….we don’t want you TASED for shoplifting.)
Inside you will find a plethora of inFAMOUS 2 goodness all wrapped in plastic to preserve “da freshness.”
What will be hard to resist opening up is the Cole MacGrath statue. This highly detailed statue, designed by Sucker Punch and sculpted by Dave Cortes of Inu Art…
A full UGC suite in a game like I2 is a new experience on PS3, so what can you do with it? And how difficult is it to put something together? Sucker Punch Senior Game Designer Karl Deckard sat down with us to demonstrate how to remix something fun.
As a huge devotee of the first inFAMOUS, I was eager to get my hands on the DualShock 3 to try out the new single player levels. Here are my impressions to go along with the video:
Have you ever put on a wedding or a huge party? A bunch of us are in working this weekend, but it’s not just the normal bug fixing, polishing, and optimizing. Today we’re hanging art, arranging some furniture, and (shudder) cleaning up our offices. All of this is being done in preparation for the 60+ media members who will be flying up to Seattle on Monday for our “Media Day” event for inFAMOUS 2. So you can think of this as our once-every-two-years chance to spruce up the place, and put on a little bit of a show.
Today I’m here to talk about everyone’s favorite topic: powers! More specifically, how does Cole manage to improve on is already impressive set of electrical abilities?
For those of you who don’t know the original inFAMOUS story, Cole’s electrical powers appear when he’s caught in the blast of a mysterious device called the Ray Sphere. Cole gains more and more abilities, becomes more and more powerful, and survives the gauntlet of Empire City… but he also is given a glimpse into his future. He realizes that even at the height of his powers, he is no match for the challenge that awaits. A battle with a great Beast looms, and Cole isn’t ready to face it.
Want to become Famous? Want to become a Mission Designer and have your mission appear in inFAMOUS 2? As promised, here are the juicy details of how to participate in the inFAMOUS 2 Limited Release User Generated Content (UGC) Beta.
Potential candidates can sign up at inFAMOUSthegame.com starting on Monday, March 14th at 12pm Noon Pacific Time using the ““Sign Up For the UGC Beta” link. The sign-up period will only last for one week, ending March 21st at 2pm Pacific, so don’t miss your chance to create. The Beta Vouchers will be sent out in phases, so if you do not get one immediately, you may receive one later on.
Here at Sucker Punch, we’ve spent the last couple of years hard at work on inFAMOUS 2. Over the last nine months or so, we’ve talked about a lot of things that make I2 awesome—things like crazy new powers for Cole, super-powered sidekicks, radically improved graphics and special effects, a cool new karma system with […]
