June proved to be another great month for PlayStation gamers seeking out the latest in downloadable gaming.
Our congrats go to Wizards of the Coast’s Magic: The Gathering – Duels of the Planeswalkers 2013 for taking the top spot in June! The venerable world of Magic: The Gathering is alive and well in this year’s critically acclaimed edition. Featuring amazing artwork and easy to grasp yet deep tactical gameplay, fans summoned this download more than any other in June.
On the PS Vita side, the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection proved that 25 years of Metal Gear is not nearly enough as fans downloaded this collection featuring two of Snake’s finest missions: Metal Gear Solid 2 and Metal Gear Solid 3.
The Walking Dead made a big impression on PSN players this month, with the first episode of Telltale Games’ episode zombie series claiming the top spot in May. You’ll also notice a great resurgence in the PixelJunk series, due likely in part to May’s deep-discount PixelJunk sale that saw many PixelJunk favorites sell for a just buck.
In PS Vita news, Escape Plan’s iron grip on the throne has finally been loosened — NetherRealm Studios’ bone-crunching fighter Mortal Kombat takes the top slot this month. In PS one Classics, Legend of Dragoon’s long-awaited release reshuffled the usual crowd of top performers. Starting this month, by community request, we’re also happy to integrate a new chart examining PS2 Classics performance! In May, Max Payne stole the show just in time for Max Payne 3’s arrival on Blu-ray Disc.
April was a close race for the top spot: PSN exclusive Journey continued to see major play, with fighting game par excellence SkullGirls and emotionally exhausting survival epic The Walking Dead Episode 1 following close behind. But it was Ubisoft’s harrowing tale of one man’s survival amidst catastrophe that claimed the top spot — I Am Alive was this month’s most-downloaded PSN game.
On PS Vita, Escape Plan has now entered its third month of leadership on the PS Vita PlayStation Store. Meanwhile, in Add-Ons, Call of Duty content (both new and old) stormed in, while MLB 12: The Show content shared some of the top honors.
It’s pretty clear that March was a banner month for PlayStation Network. As you may already know, Journey was recently proclaimed PSN’s fastest-selling game. It should come as no surprise to see that it’s also March’s top selling PSN game! Our hats are off to thatgamecompany for making a truly unique experience that you can only find on PSN. We also saw the debut of the free-to-play Killzone 3 Multiplayer, Motorstorm RC and Mass Effect 3. All of them proved to be big movers and shakers as they all made their debut in the top 20.
Also of note is Escape Plan’s second month in a row in the #1 spot on the PS Vita lists! Can Lil and Larg go for a third month in April? Or will the releases of new PS Vita content like Disgaea 3 and The Pinball Arcade shake things up a bit?
Last month was a big one for PlayStation Network games! Not only did we see a ton of great new downloadable PS3 titles, but the launch of PS Vita saw PSN flooded with new digital offerings. Starting this month, we’re introducing a new list to show what games topped the digital PS Vita charts.
On PS3, our hats are off to The Simpsons Arcade Game for debuting at the top spot! This long-awaited PS3 port of the coin-op co-op classic delivered nostalgic beat em’ up action peppered with obscure Simpsons references. In PS Vita’s world, Sony’s own Santa Monica Studio delivered a bonafide hit with the charming Escape Plan.
Welcome to this month’s PSN Top Sellers, where we break down the content that moved the most over the past month.
Looks like a lot of you had football fever as a ton of PSN gamers picked up NFL Blitz, EA Sports’ revival of the arcade and console classic and a perfect accompaniment to the end of the NFL season. On the handheld front, Corpse Party went for its third straight month at the top of the PSP charts, but the imminent release of PS Vita may spark a new surge in PSP title downloads — check back next month. In PS one Classics, while Final Fantasy VI enjoyed the top spot last month, Final Fantasy VII reclaimed its (rightful?) spot at the top. Lastly, Battlefield 3 DLC earned two spots on the Add-Ons category. Will Modern Warfare 3 DLC for Elite members hitting in February move the needle?
We’re a bit late this month due to the post-holiday rush, but we’re ready to go over December 2011’s top-selling PSN content!
The release of the fan favorite Sonic CD was big enough to dethrone inFAMOUS: Festival of Blood from the top spot this month. Hats off to our favorite blue hedgehog! In PS one Classics, the battle for the top spot saw a changing of the guard with new release Final Fantasy VI, while Crash Bandicoot snuck in to the top 5 to shake things up a bit. Lastly, horror adventure Corpse Party continues to dominate the PSP charts, while sports content for FIFA Soccer ‘12 and NHL ‘12 formed the majority of the top 5 Add-Ons.

You may not be surprised to see inFAMOUS: Festival of Blood at the top of the PS3 list…but you may be interested to learn that it’s also now officially the fastest-selling PS3 digital game ever launched on PSN. Not bad, eh? Congrats, Sucker Punch Productions! On the PS one Classics front, newly released RPG classic Chrono Cross led the pack; in the PSP category, the story-driven scares of Corpse Party took the lead; and in the Add-Ons department, Batman: Arkham City’s Nightwing Bundle came out on top.
