PSPgo Trivia and NYC Events

Hi, Everyone…today is PSPgo launch day, and to celebrate our first all-digital PSP, we’re giving you a chance to show off your knowledge of the PSP through a PSPgo Trivia contest on Twitter. Winners will receive PlayStation Network vouchers to download games for your shiny new PSPgo!

First, you’ll need to follow us on Twitter (which we hope you’re already doing), then just look out for the questions later today (we’ll have two rounds). The winners will be the 25th, 50th, 75th, and 100th people who @reply with the right answer AND #pspgo. Good luck!

Now if you live in the New York City area and want to check out the PSPgo and some of the key titles launching this holiday, I just happen to be in NYC for the gdgt Launch Party and Meetup, which is open to the public TONIGHT. In addition to PSPgo, the new 120GB PS3 and some upcoming games like Uncharted 2 and Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time will be there too, so come by!

Twitter Update: #UNCHARTED 2

So we’ve seen some concern about the frequency of updates for those choosing to use UNCHARTED 2: Among Thieves‘ Twitter support. Some reviewers have had early access to the game and selected the option to update their Twitter accounts as they completed each chapter of the game. This has resulted in some Twitter feeds being updated multiple times an hour. We obviously want to provide the best experience for everybody, so for the time being we’ve disabled Twitter updates on chapter completions. The option will still exist in the menus when the game ships on 10/13, but if activated, it will do nothing. Some time after the game has shipped, we’ll release a patch to reactivate the feature, but with a limit on the frequency of updates.

We’re certainly sorry for any inconvenience, but I guess that’s the risk you run when trying to blaze a new trail in the complicated world of Social Media!

This Week in Killzone 2 (and more demo codes)

I hope those of you in the US are enjoying your President’s Day Holiday, (assuming you get the day off). When we get back into the office tomorrow, we’ll be amping up our Killzone 2 coverage, featuring a look inside the new Killzone.com, live chats with developer Guerrilla Games, and even a contest or two.

From reading the comments, we gathered that some of you weren’t able to track down a Helghast soldier in Home yesterday to request a Killzone 2 demo code. Fortunately, I was able to get ahold of a few (hundred) more to distribute via our PlayStation Twitter account.

If you’re already following our account, all you’ve got to do is send us an “@reply” and ask. We’ll direct message you the code when we get into the office tomorrow (Tuesday, Pacific time).

If you’re new to Twitter, or haven’t yet joined, I suppose we owe you a bit of an explanation. To get our attention, just type “@sonyplaystation” into a Tweet and ask for the demo (see pic below as an example).

You’ll also need to be following us, or we can’t send you a direct message with the demo code. This part’s easy – just click on “Follow” underneath our logo in the upper right corner of the page.

Share Your Cyber Monday Finds on Twitter!

“Cyber Monday.” Honestly, it sounds made up. But the first workday following Thanksgiving (read: today) the deals for online shoppers are very real. And since you’re already on the internet right now, that’s half the battle down.

So in the vein of our Black Friday deals post (thanks to everyone who chipped in with their tips, btw), today we’ll be sharing the best PlayStation deals we can find… but in a distinctly, um, “cyber-y” way. (Seriously though, I don’t wanna get going on a rant here, but who still uses the word “cyber”? OK, deep breaths.)

Since the redesign of the Blog, you can find our Twitter feed scrolling the top of the page. For those not intimately familiar with Twitter, it allows us to get a sentence or two of info to you without a full blog post. You can start following us here. For those that *are* intimately familiar with Twitter, feel free to share the best PlayStation deals you find by including the “#psbdeals” hashtag in your tweets. We’ll retweet the best deals you send in, on the PlayStation.Blog twitter stream. Also, we’ll continue using that tag to share deals even after today, so, by all means, keep using it throughout the holiday season and beyond.
