Since launching in May, our Uncharted 4 Multiplayer community has been celebrating victories over their enemies with The Pop and Lock, The Robot, The Dab, and a collection of other elaborate dance taunts. As the ultimate expression of your triumph in multiplayer, we knew we had to make them as authentic as possible and fun to watch, which is why we enlisted the help of professional choreographers Matt Steffanina and Dana Alexa. Together, they donned motion capture suits and performed the array of modern and classic dance routines that you can now find in-game. To show you how we brought Matt and Dana’s performances to life in Uncharted 4 Multiplayer, check out this new video that offers behind-the-scenes footage.
Naughty Dog has been floored by your reception to Uncharted 4 Multiplayer since it was released on May 10. Since then, we’ve seen over 1.8 million people play nearing a total of almost 54 years of matches played. Multiplayer continues to be important to the team and we’re continuing to work on patch deployments to deliver improvements and gameplay tuning. Our first major post-launch update, patch 1.08, launches today and includes our first MP DLC drop, a Level system and an entirely new Rank system with special rewards. Yes, this is a big update (patch 1.08 is just over 1.3GB in size).
It’s hard to believe that it’s been nearly two weeks since we officially released Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End on PS4. It’s one of the most beautifully crafted games I’ve ever played, and the great reception we’ve seen from the community has been amazing and humbling. Naughty Dog’s exceptionally talented team has created magic once again, carefully constructing an adrenaline-pumping, thrilling, and beautifully written culmination to Nathan Drake’s adventures. They truly outdid themselves.
The deliciously detailed world of Uncharted 4 just begs players to hit the Share button and grab a few mementos of Drake’s latest adventure. Handily, the day one patch includes a special photo mode that, once enabled in the Options menu, will let you capture the action with a photographer’s poise.
We understand that you’re probably playing Uncharted 4 right now, but once you’re finished we’d love for you to come back and listen to this week’s PlayStation Blogcast. As always, we’ve got next week’s new games lineup, but we’ve also got plenty to say about Nathan Drake’s final adventure. We also set some time aside to review April’s top downloads on PlayStation Store and discuss a hidden gem Nick found on PSN this week. Enjoy!
Today’s the day. Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is out! That’s a surreal statement to make. It’s even more surreal to think that so many of you finally get to turn on your PS4 and go on the final adventure with Nathan Drake. There were times during production when we actually thought, we’re not going to make it — this is the game where our ambition will get the best of us.
Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End will hit store shelves on May 10. And while we’ve talked a lot about the single-player campaign, many multiplayer details have remained under wraps. That ends today, as we fill you in on what to expect as well as the philosophy behind some of the new directions we took with multiplayer.
