Hello, PlayStation fans! I’m very excited to tell you about our new game: KickBeat. It’s a music game; it just doesn’t look like one. Check it out, and then after the jump I’ll tell you about how it works and some of the development history.
Music games have a long tradition of innovation. From the peripheral-based games like Guitar Hero and Dance Dance Revolution to controller-based ones like Frequency and Patapon, these games allow us to experience music in new and often unexpected ways.
KickBeat follows in the tradition of this type of music game. Although its beat-matching mechanic is not complex and will be familiar to fans of the music game genre, KickBeat does a couple things that make it different from anything else you’ve played…and with publishers afraid to do anything except sequels to dance games, what better time than now to give the genre a kick in the pants?

It’s a truly historic day here at the House of Ideas, as Marvel’s The Avengers is finally making its way to American theaters. I’ve seen it. It’s awesome. I’m pretty sure you’ll agree with me soon. (Maybe you already do.)

Cool trailer, I know, but you can see it pretty much anywhere. When Sid Shuman and Jeff Rubenstein – who preside over the PlayStation Blog with legendary Thanos-ian tyranny – demanded I present “a li’l somethin’ extra for our minions,” who was I to say no?

You may have seen the announcement for Marvel Pinball: Avengers Chronicles a few weeks ago, but it just so happens we have something extra special in store for PlayStation fans – Zen Pinball 2 is on the way, packed full of new features and all sorts of awesome bonuses, and it will release in conjunction with the new Marvel pack!
We have been listening to all of your feedback and have included many, many of your ideas into what is our most advanced and sophisticated pinball platform yet! There has been strong focus on keeping the community together, bringing all of your pinball tables under one roof, and then connecting the games across PS3 and Vita. If you are a pinball fan, this will be the ultimate pinball experience on PlayStation!

Hi everyone! As you all know by now, it is Zen Studios’ quest to deliver the most entertaining and original pinball tables. Epic Quest represents a major step forward in the evolution of videogame pinball, blending RPG elements such as loot, leveling and XP with pinball. This is something we have been dreaming about and working on for a long time. I’m excited to share a little bit about how we have blended two different gaming genres to create a totally new experience!
Zen’s Epic Quest
It is the sworn duty of every knight to seek out evil, defeat it, and take its stuff. One such knight is Max, whose enthusiasm for combat is surpassed only by his love of rare and valuable loot. Join Max as he battles hordes of evil (or just evil-looking) monsters, rescues a wealthy princess, and accumulates the loot and XP that make good deeds worth doing. If Max suffers a defeat, never fear! He will return in the next game with all of his hard-won loot and experience levels intact.

Tables starring Ghost Rider, Moon Knight, Thor, and the X-Men will be available for Marvel Pinball in the brand-new Vengeance and Virtue table pack, coming to PlayStation Store later today for $9.99! It’s been pretty busy here at Zen Studios, and we just had to take a break to fill you all in on some pretty exciting developments with the Marvel Pinball series. If you rewind back to San Diego Comic-Con, you may remember we announced a brand new four-table pack, Marvel Pinball: Vengeance and Virtue. Ghost Rider, half of the “Vengeance” part of the title, was the first table revealed, and to this point there have only been a handful of screens to explore – but today, right here on the PlayStation.Blog, we are giving you a first look at Johnny Blaze, Lucifer, and Zadkiel in action.
Did you see what we did there??? “A virtuous announcement coming to New York Comic Con.” Yes, we will be revealing a new table this Saturday @ 1:15 – 2:15 during the Marvel Games panel at NYCC. Any guesses on the reveal?

Pinball Wizards rejoice! Today we are unveiling Sorcerer’s Lair, a brand new ZEN Pinball table! It has been awhile since our last blog, but we hope you have been enjoying Marvel Pinball and keeping your skills sharp on other ZEN Pinball tables. All eight of our studio pinball teams have been hard at work over the past few months developing new tables.
Set in an ancient Citadel that is controlled by an evil Sorcerer, you play as a brother and sister pair who find themselves caught in the Sorcerer’s spells and traps.
