Hi everyone. I’m Felice Standifer, Sr. US Producer for MotorStorm. I understand everyone is rarin’ to go with the MotorStorm updates and believe me, we are too. But right before we were planning to go live with the 1.2 updates with Time Attack mode, a new issue was found on the patch that could result in people not being able to establish a network connection. So, unfortunately, for now we need to continue to run tests and monitor the fix to ensure that it does not occur when the patch goes live. I play Motorstorm religiously and *love* the new Time Attack mode, and I think you will too. Of course, it’s in the best interest for everyone that we resolve this before we release the update. Bear with us, we’ll have it out as quickly as we can and ensure the bug doesn’t cause any problems for future updates. More to come.

I’m pretty sure by including that mode you wouldn’t find a single person not willing to play that game anymore. Showed it to people at my place that usually do not play videogames, and they totally were fascinated by Motorstorm, while other games still do not catch their interest. Big public potential, that thing. But not with single-player only.

time attack is cool…but i mean…what’s up with offline multiplayer? seems to me that should be standard with racing games. THAT is what you guys need to get the ball rolling on.

As a lover of racing games from the days of Rage Racer – f1 06, i always felt split screen racing games were a waste of time, its fine for what i call silly racing games such as crash team racing or moto toon racing etc, but when it comes to (again this is my opinion) serious racing – like F1,Toca,Gran Turismo Series etc, i think split screen is a let down, i prefer the very under used link up option from some ps1 games, you know two machines two tv’s and a link up cable, it gives racing games much more thrill and nail biting tension. where as split screen shooter games are great such as the ‘Timsplitters’ series were perfect for multiplayer mayhem,Where a game has a co-op mode like Ghost Recon for example it would be better to have the option for link up mode rather than just co op on one screen.
As for the delay in motorstorm update – i think good on you guys n girls to find before it went live, so a delay is gonna be ok with us all motorstorm lovers.
ps im lovin this playstation blog thing you got goin on here, and just to let you know….i still play ‘Disruptor’ from time to time!

Finally new from the Motorstorm group, its taken long enough. The 1.2 patch was due out on the 12th June as stated on every website, the 12 came and went and nothing, not a mutter, thats what annoyed me the most. Sure i understand that bugs have to be ironed out but the lack of information about the delays – until now, amazes me.
Take your time to get it perfect and DON’T release a release date unless you are 100% SURE you can deliver….
Nice to hear straight from the source about the patch and why it´s delayed. I personally have been waiting for the japanese Motorstorm online patch, though I am not sure if this same 1.2 will add that feature.
It’s nice that Time Attack will finally be in Motorstorm.
I haven’t been following news around the game much, but are there any plans for replays as well?
Granted, replays probably had to have been built in to begin with, I guess. Or at least the tools perhaps needed to be in place?

I rember a lot of add-ons for the 360 witch were responsible for the ring of dead, but that again a that seems a frequently attentive problem for the 360.
I love that you are taken your time a deliver a add on without errors.
By the way I loved the WRC games you’ had made for the PS2, They were may favourite rally games, I liked them a lot more than CMR.
And I a have a lot of respect what you have done with Motorstorm, man I love that game and thats for the offline and online part.

I reaaaaally second that split-screen mode. If it is one game I would really love to play against my friends at home it is Motorstorm. This game kicks so much ass it is a pity it lacks this gaming mode…:P

a quality patch is better than rushed buggy patch
Online gaming is the future- but many like me find gaming with real friends in the same room to be much more fun.
Some of my friends came around to my house recently to playtest my PlayStation 3. We have been playing multiplayer games like this for over 10 years!
I put on Motorstorm. Everyone said it looked beautiful and was eager to run each other off the road- but when I said it was single player their faces dropped and we put on Resistance FOM.
Motorstorm is a great game that feels right and is fun. I would gladly accept a drop in graphics detail if it meant it could bring split-screen multiplayer.
I can’t wait for this update. Its taking so long but I trust that it will be worth it.
not trying to highjack a thread for another game just wanted to say like in the first poster the maps in resistance could use some fixing especially the carrier (U.S.S. Lexington)

What About the Japonese Motorstorm Online Update?
I don’t care. I don’t play this game anymore… because you refuse to add some REAL downloadable content/updates to this potentially incredible game.
Here’s what I mean by real:
Instead of a single mode being added, give us something amazing, like 4-player splitscreen.
Oh, and fix REAL problems, like the abhorrent load times for a vehicle preview.
And add some stuff that makes each vehicle you choose slightly different, so that each player can have more choices as to how they will play.
I played this game a good bit up to the point they said that a patch to fix the lack of splitscreen won’t be made.
I was given the idea that a patch was going to be made if the public wanted it and we did want it. After the game came out the company found out suddenly that it couldn’t be done.
Sony guys! Are you reading this stuff? Is it sinking into your heads about what we want on our PS3? Lets recap a bit.
1. XMB in game Access
2. Custom in game Music
3. XMB Backgrounds (Would be nice to have a random option too)
4. More Store Content (Not just 1-2 trailers of crap! We want Demos & Game content!)
5. Fix Bluetooth Head set Connections
6. FIRMWARE 2.0 that was said to be a Rumor! Just hand it over already, Please!!!
Also Release games quicker like RBS:Vegas and add more PS1 games that we want. (FFVII, FFVIII, Hint Hint!)

After downloading the Time Attack patch my PS3 freezes on loading motorstorm, I have to power it off with the on/off button.

I too have this problem.
I downloaded the 1.81 patch, then dl’ed the tiem attack patch for Motorstorm.
Now Motorstorm hangs right after starting loading it.
More have this problem??

Time attack is now available in the European store, it also says to connect motorstorm to online and download any updates before downloading time attack mode
Yeah. I read that afterwards. So now what? I can’t play Motorstorm anymore?

Thanks for the post – this new blog has already proven to be extremely informative and useful, even though it’s existed less than a week.
I’m a huge Motorstorm fan, but I haven’t been playing much lately due to th epoor on-line interface and lack of off-line game modes.
The 1.2 update can’t be come soon enough for me, but I’m OK with a small delay if it means the patch willl be flawless. :)
Wow.. Color me impressed. Not ONLY do we get an explanation as to why something is delayed, but we get it directly from one of the game’s producers??
Guys/Gals, be thankful! This is a refreshing amount of honesty and integrity we are seeing here from a game company.

Shame about the bug… Wish more people would get over complaining about it though… seems that we are now getting more information than ever before, and even more than from the other gaming console companies combined… Don’t stop giving us updates to the blog please, even though there are apparently hundreds of haters out there..

I would really love a splitscreen mode, people come over and go “wow thats a cool game!” But then they are disappointed when they cant play with me.
I now have a new RESPECT for SONY. This blog is very informative. I would rather know something is wrong and what it is then have an incomplete update to a game. Thank you
Don’t announce the update so early then? Put it through debug first, then announce it. Come on Sony, you’re breakin’ my balls here.
THE PATCH IS OUT
This is only for PAL territories for sure right now. Can someone check the US Store?
First, boot up the game, jump online and download MotorStorm 1.2.
Then, go to the Store and download the Time Attack mode.
Katamari’s next installment 360 exclusive says N’gai Croal on his blog. Anybody care? I was kinda dissapointed but the more i think about Katamari was great while it lasted but its really a one trick pony (got kinda boring after the 2 ps2 versions and the psp version)

Sorry, but not everyone cares for a useless ‘time attack’ mode… honestly how can anyone be? racing against myself just doesn’t cut it. How about scrapping the whole idea and bring us something thats really wanted. Motorstorm: too little, too late.
Oh and i like to add that it was a good idea for Evolution Studio to do a brand new game, and not a rally 2k7 game. It really fell fresh and new, so again really take your time with Motorstorm 2. Its a great game dont kill this new franchise with a game / a year :o

When it was first announced that Motorstorm will not have split-screen support, the developers said that if consumers wanted it added, they could add it via an update later. I’ve read that any people that have Motorstorm really want this update. Is there any chance that it will be made any time soon?

Mr Standifer, Euro gamers have their 1.2 update online as of June 15th 2007.
What about USA ?
US and EURO version are the same software core coding…. just put the stuff live…

Thanks for the heads-up, but is it REALLY NECESSARY that patches/updates/content are required to be released on Thursdays and Fridays?
What if you guys fix it tonight? We have to wait until Thursday to get the update? I say that if anything patches need to be an exception to the Thursday/Friday rule. I don’t mind games coming out on the PSN on those days, but patches and game updates are completely different.

I have just downloaded the extra mode (timeattack) the software auto installed as soon as it downloaded. I had not done the 1.2 update at this point.
I am now stuck with a black screen when I try and run motorstorm. Surely the software should be professional enough to check that you are on 1.2 before auto installing if it is going to shaft your system??
