Hi Everyone – It’s been a while since I’ve made a post, but since some of you guys posted comments wanting me to jump back on, *and* the very interesting pricing debate/discussion that has been going on recently, well … here I am with a couple of important updates!?
First off, has Warhawk gone “gold”??
Hells Ya! The PSN and Blu-ray versions have gone “GOLD,” completely finished and will go on sale August 28th … just a few weeks away! We’re all really proud of the game, and those of you who got a chance to participate in the BETA know why. We can’t wait to get online with all of you so we can beat the hell out of each other!
Next, what does Warhawk cost?
Ready for this? One Million dollars!
Ok, now for reals … If you didn’t already know, SCEA is taking an exciting new approach with Warhawk – making it available for download directly from the PlayStation Store *and* releasing it at retail simultaneously. Each one has a different price. Why different pricing? A couple of reasons: first off, we wanted to give all of you the option, the retail game is more of a premium version with some expanded video content, traditional package and manual (this seems to mean a lot with some of the gamers I have spoken to), and a Jabra Bluetooth headset bundled with the game – all for $59.99!
We’re also looking at including a set of Ginsu knives, and an extra-jumbo tub of Oxy-Clean!
Alright … I’m lying about the knives and the Oxy-Clean … Oxy-Clean does work really well though and I highly recommend it.
Anyhoo, back on track ….
The PlayStation Store version will be $39.99 and I’m really glad that SCEA came through with a “good value” price for this – it’s the right thing to do.
I’m a firm believer in the Google founders’ motto “Don’t be Evil” and the $39.99 PlayStation Store price is a good example of that.
Warhawk is a great looking, great playing multiplayer game but at the end of the day, it’s a multiplayer-only game and if you decide not to get the premium version at retail with the headset, this is a great option for you – at a great price.
Like I said previously, those of you who’ve had a chance to play Warhawk, know how good it is, and why a game that is fun to play for 70+ hours offers more gameplay than a lot of single player games that cost a great deal more.
…and yes, that’s just one of the statistics that is tracked by Warhawk’s Stat system. During the BETA we saw users log crazy high numbers – 70 was by far *not* the largest … most users had over 30 and we had to ultimately turn the servers off!. Who knows how high those numbers would be if we were to keep the BETA open?
Speaking of the BETA, I’d like to let you guys know that we were watching the Warhawk Statistics database during the BETA, looking for the top players. We ultimately used the Bonus Points category since it covers all play modes, levels, vehicles, troops, weapons, kill types, etc.
So…for the top 100 players, we have prepared a “Top-BETA-Players” award that you will be receiving in the mail soon. It includes a really nice print of the box-art, signed by the team *and* a very, very limited edition metal Warhawk Wings pin! So guys and gals, please keep your eyes out for this in the coming weeks!

I think for my next post, I’d like to show all you guys some of the great work that our IT-Team has been doing “behind-the-curtain”. Since Warhawk is a multiplayer-only game, for those of you who choose to play online, I think it would be good for you to see some of the server work that we have done since the BETA closed.

Since when has Uncharted been delayed? Heavenly Sword has been delayed, what, 8 days? GTA 4 delay was due to Rockstar Games needing more time, not because of Sony. Warhawk is complete and the BETA is done, so it will release on August.28th in the U.S.
My gosh, people are STILL complaining about the $40 game. Do any of you complaining own either 1)Counterstrike or 2) Battlefield 2? Both of those games are ONLINE only, and BF2 cost $50 when it came out. Add another $20 for the extra maps and stuff, and $20 for Special Forces expansion pack. And there is no single player. But check Xfire. CS:S is 3rd, BF2 is 4th, and CS1.6 is 9th. Those games are ONLY ONLINE. You’d have to be silly to say that it’s only HALF a game. The game’s experience is online; that’s where you’d have the most fun. I bet all of you would be complaining if they had a crappy singleplayer because it’s hard to make a storyline out of it. I would include WoW, but you people would complain it’s an MMO and those people are OCD about their games anyhow. In which case they wouldn’t be playing their PS3.

Yes, or else your controllers wouldn’t work. They’re bluetooth also. It’s just the WiFi and memory card slots that you don’t have. And the chrome.
@Person wondering why you would need multiple headsets in 1 room.
It’s because of team strategy. Would you rather shout into your friend’s mic to talk tell the player next to you to run up X hill or whatever?

Obviously it will have some form of it. If you have 4 people on one PS3 it’s inefficient to have all of them in separate games. As to a group of people like a clan idk.
My guess is that the game will have clan support. Pretty much every game out there has clan support nowadays.
Also. STOP TELLING SONY HOW TO RUN THEIR PR! Sure, you can say “Ah dang I won’t buy it b/c it’s $40; I would rather $30” but don’t tell them to “Drop the PS3 price to 399, put the 80GB at 449 and make all the games $50.” If you really feel like you could do better, drop your resume in the mail, and Sony will call you back if they want your help. We’re paying $60 a game because Sony is losing ~$300 on each system we buy. Developers have to get paid, and games nowadays are running towards the price of Hollywood pictures.
@Starfleets. Then import it :) I import all my games from videogamesplus.ca (and yes it cost less including shipping and you get it on the release day…) So if you really can’t wait for it there’s always a way to get it.

Finally, the game that breaks the ice on the ps3 game drought is coming. Hurray. I’ve allready pre-bought the retail version, I reccommend all of you do to *the headset is worth like 40 USD itself, that’s a good deal.
Hey Playstation, im an avid gamer and ive tried to get in the Home Beta Trial, Warhawk Beta Trial, and many others and ive never recieved nething about being accepted and i would gladly appriciate if u could make 101 of those Warhawk pins so i could have 1… You guys say that you are constantly trying to improve your product well this will improve my confidence in sony and many others also. It will show that Plastation, the greatest gaming company ion yhe world, is actually there and listenig to the individual gamer. People like you, is the reason why there are so many rumors flying around the web. HMV has already mentioned that they made an error listing MGS4 as an Xbox 360 title. So Sony has not lost MGS4’s exclusivity. By the way, you’re off topic. LOL! :-)

Damn i dont know what to say developers of warhawk have a great game coming out. Not only that the interaction with the developers on the blog is freaking amazing i always look foward to their comments. this is why i love sony and the developers that make games for their console.
You guys need to realize you cant ask for anything here you can ask questions buy you cant ask for psn demos or psp games to be on the psn this guy isnt in charge of that. I believe Eric is so hit his page up.

A couple of people on GAP have been wondering how this game will play out for households with more than one PS3.
ThreeSpeech just reported that LAN parties can be run on multiple PS3’s with only a single Warhawk disc, so that base is covered.
From what I understand, with PS Store games, they can be downloaded five times, even on multiple consoles. Will Warhawk be the same?
I would think that if Sony wishes to redefine how we think of downloadable titles, they would want to keep the system consistent with all titles, regardless of content. Still, I can understand if the cost to develop Warhawk prohibited the inclusion of this feature.
Perhaps some sort of, “Buy Another License at Discount” type deal could work?

scar1983: STOP WHINING and stop being offensive. For all you know, I’m from the same country as you. My point was to stop complaining about things you have no control over. Shows your immaturity. If you have an issue with when the game will be released where you live, take it up with those who are in charge of that. Don’t come here and expect that the developers of Warhwak can fix that or have a say in it. If they could, I’M SURE THEY WOULD. Don’t you think they want this game to hit everyone all at the same time? Isn’t that good PR and marketing? And if they can’t , it’s because it’s out of their hands, as stated a more than several times above. So, STOP. WHINING.

This game freakin rocks!!!! I got on the beta 2 weeks b4 it closed and all i could think about at work was WARHAWK. I might send my girlfriend and son on a vacation and take a week off of work the 28th.

I was still on the fence about getting Warhawk and if I were to get it it was going to be the PSN version. But…when I read ThreeSpeech’s review, I made up my mind to get the retail disk version, just because of the LAN party feature. Everyone I know has a PS3 and I can definitely see a use for that. Plus at a $20 difference its not a big deal to give up the extra cash for a nice headset.

Look i have already expressed how much i appreciate this game. So i thought i would express my dissapointment aswell.
Your not from Europe so you have no idea how frustrating it can be to get online games late. Its not like this is just a one off it happens again and again.

I doubt it mate SONY are apparently announcing the release date for Europe at the Liepzig game convention which runs from Aug 20-22. That would leave less than one weeks notice for European gamers and retailers so i cant see it happening.

Article mentions that the in store game will feature extra content over the downloaded version, but my question is about the speed of the game. Was recently brought to my attention that this early in Blu-Ray development, the drives are only 2x. Would the downloaded version, running from the HDD, actually run and/or load faster than the store bought game? I plan to buy the store bought for the headset, but was just curious if anybody had any comments on that.
Re: Fox_Savage – I already get presents from Sony like that, and have for years. Game demos for various systems, coupons for games, and in the past I actually got a VHS of a game trailer & review. All I ever did was fill out the registration card for all games I buy. As of last week I got a PSP demo, the 3rd one I think I’ve received out of the blue. I wouldn’t mind it happening more often, but it does happen.

Warhawk is pretty disappointing. No single player mode in any game is an instant not buy for me. There is no excuse, and it was either developer laziness or Sony rushing that caused it. Unless the multiplayer is unbelievably amazing, I think I’ll save my money for a game with more depth and story.

Are you kidding??? Naughty Dog never announced an official date so EBGAMES speculated November 1st, and is now speculating November 20th. Look at how many games are coming on November 1st, and 20th. Unless the developer announces the date, its not “delayed.” Lair, for example, was delayed, because the developers said it had gone gold and in manufacturing, and then suddenly said they’re adding some online features.
this is one of the few games that i am looking forwad to playing. It great news that it has gone gold and its shipping a lot earlier than expected.
