Week two of our Heavenly Sword video series for your enjoyment. We’re glad you guys enjoyed last week’s video and the feedback has spurred ideas to take these elsewhere (Blu-ray stocking stuffer, anyone?). We’re also glad that both the “making of” and animation series are starting to answer a lot of your storyline and production questions, and if not yet, they will.
Apologies for the short post, but things are getting crazy around the office as we’re finalizing the Heavenly Sword advertising – hopefully we’ll debut the TV spot here, on the blog, soon.
Sony needs to market these games. Get some ads out, posters anything. Show poeple, general public I mean, that the PS3 has some huge titles comming out this year.
I love the animation on these shorts though. Is it true that the studio behind Samurai Jack did were behind these?

I hope Sony increases their marketing not only for the Ps3 but also for its games, I am really looking forward to Heavenly Sword and i hope the tv spots can do it justice about how awesome it will be. This game deserves to be bought and i hope that decent advertising will make this a best seller.

Are the right people hearing that you are about to release a game that does not support 1080 and thuss will not sell as well due to the fact that this alienates a good number of HDTV owners who are not willing to play a gmae (no matter how fun) in SD on thier HDTV? I LOVE THIS and I would love to see this bacome an ongoing series released on the psn PLEASE SONY BREAK BREAD with these guys who made this and let them run with it, YOU would have an EXCLUSIVE show on the PSN and I would support it to the fullest as I’m sure others will!

I couldn’t tell the last time I saw a PS3 game advert on the television.
This game needs to be pushed like crazy when its released.
I swear i cant count the number of times I see an add for a crappy 360 or wii game.

I too want Heavenly Sword to sell as is a hella good game, however I don’t think it has to be marketed out, I mean no commercials for the game have been released, at least I haven’t seen them. Yet look at how much attention it gets, tons of people are getting the game (Including me, have the money safely secured on my desk in my room :P) and no pushy marketing was involved, simply good games don’t need pushy marketing, thats the way I see it.

My no Commercials comment was in reference to all PS3 titles not just Heavenly Sword.
Of course the TV spot for this title is a month or so away.
But the overall Ps3 marketing is lacking, a good example of this would be the game kiosks in the stores. They should be streaming videos of upcoming titles similar to those we have on the PSN.
People should see videos of KZ2 when they walk in to Preorder H3, Not NBA live over and over.

WOW NICE I own all the ratchet and clank series on the PS2 and PSP finally another winner for the PS3..My wife and kids are just exstatic over this addition to our PS family..MY kids own PS2’s and PSP ,my wife and I have the PS2 the PSP and the PS3 .. THIS WILL BE AN AMAZEING GAME TO BE SURE …! CAN’T WAIT!

You guys and gals at Sony should buy the rights to M.U.G.E.N.
If you don’t know what that is, it’s a 2D fighting game engine in which people get to create their own fighters, and download sprites of characters from other games like Dragon Ball Z, Street Figther, ad infinitum. There are no limits to the amounts of characters you can have, and it’s a global phenomenon.
Its perfect for the PS3 because characters can be saved on the HDD and you can make a mint off of downloads.
You should REALLY consider it. I know tons of people who LOVE the game, and it would bring a lot of sales to the PS3. Even if you just put the Engine itself on the PSN for download, you can still make a lot of money because it would be great using a console controller and possibly other features that you can’t get on a PC in that game.
Think about it.
It’s perfect for your user centric business model.
There will probably eventually be a Nariko character available for download with her own movesets, etc…

Wow! I am pumped up for this game after this weeks little promo. I am starting to feel better about the story everday. I think I have an idea of what is going to happen and I hope it lives up to what I am thinking. I think that you will have to go back and win the battle before the sword takes her life. If that is the case it would rock, and it would leave the game open to sequals. Keep the good times rollin. Come on next week.

about not seeing commercials for PS3,i think that due to succes of PS2,sony is walking a tight rope here having two systems out, and they don’t want to kill the ps2 jet (that what i’ve read anyway)
and PS3 is now outselling 360 in europe,so they don’t even need commercials :) nice job sony

One of the developer’s in Heavenly Sword making of vol 2 video completely misquoted Morre’s law. Its:
Generalization — the number of transistors double every 24 months.
And its only really dealing with cost per unit. Also worth noting that it isn’t really a law at all as it has not always been 100% accurate. Funny enough it became more of and industry GOAL than an actual law.
You know i love the idea of putting Videos or Show on the Playstation Store The Heavenly sword video is the first one but Men is to short is like 2 minutes give me a 1/2 hour or so i also wan to buy music from the ps3 and download videos also get some of the anime series in there.
You know, this has really got me stoked for HS, and I love the art, it reminds me of how clone wars gave way to ROTS. I hope te d the same and finish the fifth chapter right before the game starts.
Just wanted to add, how about more psp demos, either on PSN or just a straight up download, instead of just UMD demos.

@ 76. Sony is giving us enough content as it is on the PS Store. Also we get alot of 3rd party demos, like the new Dirt game and NCAA Football. 2 demos in one week is awesome. So shut your mouth joeymp.
I hope Sony does a good job at advertising and marketing games. If you market well and advertise wisely and enough. Then lots of people will buy the games.

I have mastered the combos in the demo, and trust me I tried them all in combination even the aero. The result people are flying in front of me like mad. The effects are gorgeous, but still (even though the counter and evade are really good) I think the game need to have blocking technique.
Did they think of adding that to the final game or not?
Beside people are starting to ask what Frame rate its gonna run on 30 or 60?

Heavenly Sword is suppose to be a huge title for PS3 that will try sell systems and take away sales from Halo 3.
With that said. I just read the UK IGN rating for Heavenly Sword, and the guy gave it a 7.0. Come on whats going on here. He said the graphics are sweet, the animation and sound is good, but the game gets repetitve and theirs some problems with the combat.
I really hope the US version of Heavenly Sword isnt this bad. I was hoping Heavnely Sword would get a middle to high 9, because if it doesnt, why even hype the game and release it.
This game was suppose to be a game us fans can drop back on to help sales of the PS3, and reasure people the PS3 is better than 360.
Why cant Heavenly Sword come out on ps2 because i heard its a really good game but not all of us have a ps3 more people have ps2 so it will be better if it was on ps2 and ps3 and mabye some others
Sony does not care about the PS3 customers that have 480p/1080i HD TVs The release of this game will be yet another slap in the face. Heavenly Sword is going to be a good game. However, like RFOM I will have to play it at 480p. I did not pay $599 to play games at 480p. The Xbox 3fixme is cheaper and upscales 720p games.
Guys from Ninja Theory, it’s too bad that HS got 7 from US IGN. Too bad. You were doing this game sooo long and in the end: poore battle system (no jump or normal block ) + arena only gameplay + same enemies =(

man 7.0 that is really though. I really thought this game would have been in the nines easily. Looks like another diappointment. Won’t be buying the game anymore. Maybe ill rent it.
IceCold, only IGN gave it a 7. Everywhere else has been 9s and 10s. Do your research.
I like what I read in gamepros review more and they gave it a 4.5/5. And this game dose not need a block button Nariko blocks just fine by herself. Ninja Theory, go ahead and start working on Heavenly Sword 2 I will be buying it. @NAZAR did you not play the demo? The battle system kicks ass. I also like the fact that alot of Sony’s games dont have jump like HS and Killzone I dont know about you guys but when I go to the gun range no one is jumping around. Every fight that I have ever seen or been in also involved no jumping.
