Taking into account customer feedback and some internal testing, we will be making available in the next few days a firmware update for the PS3 (1.93) that fixes the network disconnect issue that some of you have experienced as a result of downloading Firmware 1.92. In addition, we are adding a new firmware update for PSP (3.71) as well, which adds many features that readers of this blog have requested.
The main feature we’ve added with the recent updates for PSP is the ability to set themes on your PSP. Over time we will be providing themes on PlayStation.com, our official PSP site and through PLAYSTATION Store. You can download themes based on some of our popular titles. Be sure to download the files into the following location on your memory stick:
Once you have downloaded a theme, under settings, go to theme settings, select theme and then custom theme to choose the one you want to display.
You can also now play music while viewing photos or a slideshow. First begin playing a track saved on your memory stick, press the HOME or SELECT button, then navigate to your photos under the Photo icon and begin viewing.
We’ve added several other features including scene search for movies, and you’ll be able to read about them in more depth on the usual update page once it goes live. When it does, I’ll update this post with a direct link.

for all yall who cant get past 4%….i had the same problem….this is how u fix it…well it worked for me….you have to be plugged in directly to ur modem…disconect from any other router or wireless network your trying to use…:)…if it doesnt work…i dont know what to say…lol
He Sony, how long is the update going to work?????????????????? at least answer, i still can´t download the &%$%$!/$%$%$&%$”&%$” update, is it a way to tell us WE DON´T CARE ABOUT YOUR PROBLEMS???????????, i want to download games, play warhawk, so come on ANSWER FOR GOD SAKE…………………………………….

its some long ass number .. i dont know .. but its working now. im at 52% and no error!!! finally
in-game XMB will probably come out with Home along with PS3 Firmware update 2.00, my guess. I wish it will come out NOW though!
Saw all the posts about new firmware and access to the XMB, how about take some small steps and give us the Friends menu in XMB and game invites available at all times…

Ugh – I am having the same error where I am stuck at 4%. I disabled the media server, and I have restarted the system over ten times. Still can’t get past 4%.

I also had the same errors when I first tried downloading the update last night and then again today. But after a few tries it finally kicked in. took awhile but I’m good here now. Thanks for the update Sony. Hope the next ones a great one also love the update for HOME ;) I don’t know if I should have said that.

praise the lord! it finally got past 4%. though i’m happy that it finally download… that issue needs to be fixed. that was ridiculous. for $650 (yes i know) it should work the first time. stop disappointing us already.

Well, I was thinking and wouldn’t it be great if Sony uses some of these ideas in this thread in their future updates? I stated before that they used some of our responses to make firmware updates so lets see if maybe they’ll do it again. SCEA even said themselves they look at these forums so hell, its worth a try.

Hardwired, media server off, restarted countless times and yet it still defeats me. I shall have my revenge Code 80028E07!
Ironically, ever since updating my PS3 to Firmware Version 1.93, I can’t stay connected to the Playstation Network for more than 20 minutes at a time. :-(

I only had the disconnects when playing warhawk, but now I’ve upgraded, i get booted out of PSN after a few minutes and I can’t reconnect.
I have been having the 4% problem, and just now I decided to try enabling UPNP on my router, and it went through, I don’t really know if it was luck, or if this really was the problem in the first place.. I will let those of you trying to get past this decide…
OK I appreciate the updates, but i tried the ‘Sort’ for the Game folder and WTF!
Who the hell wants sort by date? (Some might i admit, however what i suspect most people want is to put all the demos together, all the downloaded PS3 games together all the downloaded PS1 games together

I was forced to update and now I can’t log into no network functions, I reset my connection reset the Ps3,nothing, I check the web browser and I could see a few sites but not PSN I can’t even play warhawk. or download all these demos that I really have been waiting for, I couldn’t play nothing online nor get online SONY, I played Ninja Gaiden last night after not touching it since Warhawk , I can chill till ya’ll fix it cause I got bout all the top games but please fix this problem ASAP!
Ok can we please stop the mandatory updates. I cannot download the update because too many people are forced to download it at the same time. I have been trying nearly nonstop for the past two days to download it and since I am trying to play warhawk I really have no option other than to download it. Making them mandatory the day they come out is pretty ridiculous you basically just made my PS3 useless to me until I can download this stupid update.

For some reason i cant dowload firmware 1.93 everytime it reaches 4% it says it cannot connect to the server and error (80028E07) appears please address this issue or if its my connection tell me wat must do 2 fix the problem,

I have the same problem as JayTeeOliver. Tried for a few hours last night and it kept reaching 4% and stopped there. Please fix the problem.
ive tryed the advice on psxextreme and still 2 no avail please correct this problem and dont do it next week cuz i think its un fare to have 2 be offline for a whole week due 2 sonys neglegence
I turned off my PS3, modem and router. Turned them all back on in order of modem, router and PS3 and the download worked.
The 1.92 firmware update was released earlier to fix LAIR controller problems, this is why they are releasing another update so short that does not add anything, or almost anything.
What I really want from SONY right now it’s a serious fix in WARHAWK, because I have to reset my PS3 almost everytime I play a match, not to mention the connection and stats problem.
so can we listen to music while playing games, cuz that would be awesome.

It would be nice if you guys could post more about the psp. I own both devices and would love it if the playabliltiy found with lair was carried over to more games. Especially ps2 and ps1 games. I would love to be able to play those games while I’m at work, on my psp.
i mean on my psp, ps3 is on my wish list.
Oh and can we have themes on the PS3 as well. It would be good if we coulkd customise colours as well.
Can we have the ability to log into mulitple profiles at once for the sake of *gasp* multiplayer games. I haven’t heard any grumblings about this from anyone else but I can’t understand how this isn’t a feature before something like wallpaper.

i have the perfect update for sony to put onto the psp for the ps3, how about making it possible to turn on your ps3 using your psp from any internet connection ( the reason why i thought of this is because i am on the road all the time and always have to call home to tell someone to turn on my ps3 so i can remote play the two devices, so hows about a update to turn on the ps3 and automaticly goes into remote play mode?).

PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! just downloaded the 3.71 update and has all the features including the themes but it does not have any themes to choose and when i downloaded a theme of my pc i tryed to put it on my psp but when i got into my settings folder there is nothing inside no theme folder plz help

true I “WAS” having a 250Gb with 10G for opensuse 10.3 in my ps3 running with firmware 1.92 and now I have a brick. no problem as I am working in computer science, it will just cost me TIME. I have the “old” 60GB still in a box, so I will fallback to it.

Every time I start to D/L I get up to 4%, then I get an “An error occurred during the download operation. A connection to the server cannot be established. (80028E07)”.
This happens every freaking time I try to D/L this, thus I can’t visit PSN or play Online games.
WTH am I suppose to do?
One idea i had for the ps3 was the ability for me to have two PSP’s access remote play at the same time. My Wife and I cannot both get into the PS3 and it makes sharing our Wedding Pictures at work hard, as we have to switch days we can use the functionality. Additionaly i would really like to be able to organize my picture files into folders and not just organize them by date. I need to be able to build files, then select a picture and move it to a file from a drop down type list. It is hard to remember to drop pics every timei use my camera. I have already stopped putting pictures into my PS3 until this is addressed. My only other idea is alllowing high resolution pictures to be sent as attachments. We have a PS3 with a 1080P signal, and we cannot send high resolution pictures from our 5 year old Cameras. I will not go backward on my camera technology to accomodate this. It just does not make sense to have to de-res a picture manually in my PC prior to adding it to my PS3. I need my PS3 to replace my PC in the media functionality to feel like it has hit a homerun.
updates finally fixed most problems with psp but still having trouble connecting to ps3 through remote play away from home, “ps3 can not be found” message. also, ps3 wireless controllers are too directional sensitive. a lot of disconnects if not aligned directly with ps3. sony, please resolve these issues and the system will be perfect.

RE: do it from an storage device, download de PS3UPDAT file from sony oficial site and try again is more safe than using ps3

good job ……can we get more game support with remote play?maybe dvds from ps3 can be played on psp during remote play…..or demo psp games from ps3 store and other psp /ps3 content..because psp has like 6 demos , psp is like 2 to 3 years old
i found a cure that cure the cold for my ps3 i hope it works for you men and women check it out. Okay i have not been able to update since the 12th up until now which is the 15th and, all i am trying to do is Download the tekken add on….well i was able to download i did not want to post until i got it and give you my feed back. unlike all the other people who just say i download smooth and dont tell you how or sound to cocky and leave you pis**** off. i hate them kind well check it out…. i tried all that restart crap did not work i tried to DL it i got to 10mb but one time i got the full update so i saved it and sat it aside then i put on usb device did not work got bad file you know the whole 9 so i said why not burn to a disc? so i used a little dvd-r pop in and wow it works…so try that i can bet u it will work for those who are having problems DLing the update just email me and i will email it to you for the true playstation people holla at ya boi.
I agree with the other comments before. I bought my PS3 to serve as a media device. I have loaded alot of music. But the music management leaves a lot to be desired. The music info it pulls from media servers is corrupt and has to be corrected manually. There should be some sort of way to manage media better. An application would be great to store and update. The gameplay is awesome though. I have been with PS since PS 1 and have never wanted another system. I even stuck with you guys although PS2 was very quirky and had a lot of issues with playing certain formats. Thanks for the connectivity issue update I had been experiencing that over my wireless network when accessing media servers.
