  • Who gives a cr@p about demos! There’s full games to be bought!

Tomorrow I’ll have enough to go out and buy RnC. Yay!!

  • Lmao…PS3 fanboys are the worst fanboys ever. Always complaining about the store update, they give demos out for a few weeks straight. Have some awesome games released…and still “worst update ever!” [DELETED]. Get a life…seriously, go play some football or something. Hang out with your buddies and grab a drink. [DELETED]

  • when is home coming out
i had heard it was coming in october but i guess not

  • I’m going to straighten out several things right here and right now:

#1 I did not expect a good update at all this week. The BIGGEST PS3 game of the year is indeed Ratchet & Clank Future: ToD, so releasing all the big games during the biggest game release isn’t the brightest idea. When a certain game came to that other console at the end of September, its updates were extremely weak. Eye of Judgment came out this week also and there’s been several games coming out. If you’re bored with your PS3 right now, it’s probably because you feel like being cheap not buying a new game.

#2 As for the PS1 game situation, due to licensing, don’t suddenly expect third party PS1 games on the PS Store. Many third parties would rather charge more for their games because they want profit. However, there’s quite a bit of third parties who just don’t believe in digital downloads, like Square Enix. Square Enix will NEVER release a downloadable PS1 game on PSN and you all should give up asking for it. They said themselves that they don’t release digital downloads because their fanbase doesn’t all have internet connection to access them, and because people cannot use direct cash to buy downloads (kind of requires a credit card which not everyone owns). Square Enix would rather release PS1 games on PSP themselves, making some enhancements, and charging FULL price. You think they are about to release FFT, Valkyrie Profile, etc. on PSN when they are selling the PSP version for $30-$40?? I don’t think so. Mostly, just expect SCEA/989 stuff up. Atlus is a small publisher and the revenue made from downloads is too small for them. Vic Ireland said himself his games (which are Working Designs) aren’t going on PSN.

#3 The demos situation, we have been getting most demos on target whether you like it or not. SCEA’s approval process for demos isn’t much longer the competition. Oh course they have to test the demo to make sure it doesn’t brick our consoles, magically remove all datasaves (some of you may remember the Viewtiful Joe 2 incident), and so on. Also, SCEA (not SCEE) has asked third parties to release demos on PSN, which is why the U.S. PS Store gets them. We don’t get GHIII demo because there is no guitar controller on PS3 yet (unlike PS2 and that other console). NFS Pro Street is just EA holding back the PS3 version like always, because if you didn’t know, EA submitted the skate demo ONE month or so later to SCEA, and that’s why it went up late. And with the way EA treats PS3, go scream at them over the demo and call them lazy. The ONLY SCEA published demo we can expect to see the rest of the year is Uncharted, but that’s November. Forget Lair, because a demo probably isn’t happening (due to performing very badly and it’s just not worth the time). Games slated for 08, expect a demo in 08. As for WWE, only THQ knows, but since they are late with most of their PS3 demos, it doesn’t surprise me it doesn’t come. The PES 2008 demo is all SCEE and Konami, with SCEA having zero influence on it (It won’t appear until it comes to NA as Winning Eleven).

4# As for why the PS Stores are separate, it’s because SCEI, SCEA, and SCEE are all separate from one another. They all have their own management who handles each of their respective markets, just like it has always been. When a game is published by SCEA first, SCEE and SCEI get the first dibs on whether it comes to their respective region. All SCEI has to do is translate their games to Japanese, while SCEE has to translate their games into multiple languages manually. Why does that other console allow for more worldwide stuff?? Because everything is handled in the U.S. basically for all regions and they DON’T translate to multiple languages.

5# As for PS Store updates on Thursday, what I can say is that updating the PS Store isn’t like that other console. It has to be accessed on a webpage due to lack of available memory to run it on the XMB. On that other console, all they have to do is insert the content and everything is already sorted and in. However, with PS3, it’s just like updating a real web page. All icons have to be sorted manually and certain icons have to be manually removed from the main list (also, PS Store has to be in SD AND HD format design). And after all that work is done, they have to send the webpage to update. Updates will stay once or twice a week, and if you don’t like it, don’t bother owning a PS3 anymore.

I’m just getting tired of all the complainers and those who really don’t understand the situation, which is why I made this post.

Anyway, I’m glad Spyro came finally, but that’s all I’ll get. All I want is Wipeout HD and Uncharted demo the rest of the year, but I’m not expecting them until November.

  • I just realised that the lack of PS2 BC in the new 40GB has completely killed any chance of us ever seeing PS2 downloadable games on PSN. Oh well…

  • Hey mrs ken kutarag are you kiding were the hell are the good demos ….[DELETED] man i ll buy a 360 ….=( so disapointed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 90% of the stuff you just said was complete horsesh.it. S.uck it Mana Knight

  • i agree with TwinsDad, more PS1 content please! especially now that i have a shiny new PSP slim.

  • WORST UPDATE EVER
    Because there is no DEMO

  • @90: I would buy a good number of those games.

  • LOL…. Oh i just think this was an amazing update…filled with tons of good demos and game trailers and these tons of different movies to download too….LOLOL…oh wait thats XBL

    what a GAY “update”!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ok…this week’s update is pretty weak…

sorry guys, you know it’s true.

  • Sourfizz » American PSN update for October 25th

    […] Read | Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments […]

  • Terrible update, save for Spyro… Hey, Sony… Got this awesome idea. Why not give us Alundra, Silent Hill, Suikoden 1 & 2… Tomba, Resident Evil D.C. for the PsN PS1 updates? That’d make me supper content!! Alright, what if I say please?

  • I have to agree with user Simstim. We need more PS1 titles for download. I know we are not going to get SquareEnix games. There are games that are already on the Japanese PSN that were originally released in North America.
    Ape Escape
    Devil Dice ( XI )
    Silent Bomber
    Mr. Driller
    Alundra
    Crash Team Racing
    King of Fighters Series

Can you explain why these games have not been released here.

  • Wheres the “Update” ?

  • DiscWorld would work very well for a PS1/PSP game. Plus it offers a different take on game play. One of the funiest games every made. The second one was the funniest game ever made.
Eye of Judgment and R&C are great fun. I suggest instead of looking for handouts. Go buy these games. Oh, add some theme packs for EoJ. Even if you got to pay out some royalties.

  • you guys should put up
    PS3 themes
    PSP themes
    Good PS1 games
    and Good PS1 games
did i mention good ps1 games??

  • regarding Ratchet & Clank’s average score

    http://gsratchet.ytmnd.com/

  • Yeah, I ripped into Aaron Thomas on my blogsite, which had multiple people coming out in protest against him with me. I got over 700 messages from people who e-mailed him “personally” along with myself. That guy is a Smack~ A complete and total Crotch stick.

  • Nothing worth downloading this week. Not even any interesting trailers. Don’t mind no demos every once in awhile, but after 6 to 7 months of poor updates. Hopefully this won’t become a running thing again.

I won’t complain much this week, because the updates for the past two months have been good. I will say the least you could do is put up some interesting trailers. More gametrailers than movie trailers would be nice. PS I love you? The Water Horse? Honestly.

  • Sony has so many opportunities with the store and they keep screwing themselves. It’s like they really want to fail. I would have expected to see all the 989/SCEA games available like previously posted and where are the old school NES games from Konami? If XBL can have Contra why can’t Sony? I’ll admit I don’t have a PS3 yet but I have a PSP and I would be able to log onto the store and download/view the trailers there. Then again when you lose what over $800 million because you come out with a new SKU every other month,

It would be nice to be able to have the same capabilities that Japan has with the store but oh well. When Sony loses MGS4 to 360 (a very sad day) and GT is 2 or 3 years out it seems as well as Killzone. I’m telling you the Marketing Department at Sony must be the cake job oh as well as working on the Store.

  • I agree with these guys, Sony. You guys need to get your stuff sorted out and deliver with some content that’s worth the view. Pretty disappointing. No. Very.

  • Legend of Dragoon please? :(

  • Ok i gave up my 360 for this sony must think we are very stupid i had to go to the japan psn just to try out the GT5 demo man oh man 360 is looking more better each week don’t no how much i can take God please help sony p.r.

  • ^yeah that’s real constructive.

  • If you want to see the content of other stores, create new accounts for countries outside america (e.g. japan or australia). You will need to have an address in each country of course, but once you have created these accounts you can browse and download content from other stores.

Sony may or may not approve of this, but details of downloading from overseas stores was recently published in the official australian playstation magazine so it must be OK.

  • wth SCEA you let SCEE out do you for once. Where are our PlaystationEye games oh well ESIV:O Game of the Year edition owns my soul so i don’t have to be bothered by it too much. I’ll get around to opening up and playing Rachet and Clank soon as Bethesda give me back my free time

  • 5 min demo fun ain’t all.. still …need ….pre-paid cards!

  • mmmmmmmmm

things have been greeat so far

but i have total confindence theyll get better

  • @129

Agreed, what the hell? Why can’t I go get pre-pay PS cards, when I can get everything else. I have a couple things worth getting, no credit card to get it on!

  • This is what I’m hearing from Sony
“Hey gamers, we haven’t got anything good in the store this time, all the demos go to the Xbox 360 owners, so here’s a bunch of crap. By the way, don’t bother asking any questions in the blog because we’re not going to answer them, heck, we’re not even going to make any posts or read any of your posts.
    From Sony”

  • Okay so whomever manages the PSN wouldn’t know how to give away gold if they had the opportunity, but this update wasn’t that bad.

  • well, we all like to get things for free right?? if you want more, if you want all you want, well tell Sony to charge for the on-line service..ooh, you don’t want that right? you all want the best for free. You people are unbelievable. you are getting things for free and you still complaint about it. GET SERIOUS!

  • I would gladly pay Sony $50 a year like I do for Live! if they offered the same features, download speed and amount of content. The excuses wore thin months ago – the console is too far along now to tell us to continue waiting patiently for the good stuff.
The window is just about completely closed for Sony to finally get its act together this generation. This Holiday Season will effectively determine the dominance of the consoles for the rest of this generation (because developers will decide for the next round of releases what platforms to support and lead on based on this season’s Holiday Sales) and Sony is doing far too little to change the existing dynamic.

  • @Grace Chen
The Eye Create software, FREE! That is awesome!
Sony if you could get a few Holiday demo’s for parents and to gain interest in upcoming releases, that would benefit you more than you know.
I am a parent and avid gamer, so the RCF demo sold us on the game. If only there were more demo’s such as being released in the new PSM mag available.

  • @manaknight – you have no idea what you’re talking about.

    1. R&C launching has nothing to do with PSN content. A much larger game launch (Halo 3) saw multiple demos release during the same week for that system.
    2. That’s a lame and unsubstantiated excuse. Nintendo and MS sure don’t seem to have any problems getting retro titles released on their respective systems due to licensing issues.
    3. The certification process for Sony is no more stringent than for MS. There has NEVER been a demo on 360 that “bricked” systems.
    4. Yes, this does offer a partial explanation for why each region gets different releases. It also demonstrates why Sony has been so dysfunctional recently as the disparate groups are too busy with internal power struggles and design by committee decisions rather than leveraging Sony’s vast resources to their advantage.
    5. Now you’re really grasping. All of us visiting this website know how the internet works and have no difficulty visiting other online stores that load quickly and change dynamically in realtime several times a day without the substantial delays of PSN. This is just another example of Sony’s inferior software capabilities, not an inherent flaw with websites. You do realize that the 360 interface operates under the same principle but with different window dressing don’t you?

I don’t get this mentality that we should be grateful to Sony for what they decide to bless us with. This is a business proposition which we have invested in and the burden is on Sony – not its consumers – to offer a compelling reason to continue supporting their brand.

  • Wow, I’m just amazed by the number of spoiled little brats demanding they get everything they want every week. You don’t have to pay a cent for online gaming, quit moaning if you don’t get a demo for one week. Maybe grow up alittle or start acting your age.

  • Great, I haven’t seen a PS1 game on there for a while. At least we know they have not forgotten about that. Hopefully they’ll release at least one weekly. The update is average, can’t wait for Uncharted demo in November, but we need something to keep us happy. Maybe you guys can work on a CoD4 demo, that would be nice. Very nice indeed.

  • Why are there two different stores (Europe and US) (…and maybe others??)…and can I switch the stores? And is so, how do I do that?
Also, I think the store updates are weak. I am not complaining, but rather wondering why it takes so long to upload good content (and maybe just free content like demos, trailers, add-ons… even backgrounds are so rare…)?

  • What there was a update on the Playstation store???

I totally forgot they update it on Thursdays because I am having so much fun playing games like Ratchet and Clank and Folklore.

Who needs demos when there are actual games to play. Oh wait I forgot this is the Sony blog and the internet…

  • Playstation Store Update 10/26/07 - StrafeRight Forums

[…] Thursday, another PSN update. The following are the new mentionable content. More on the update here. […]

  • Thanks for putting up Spyro the Dragon. That was one of those titles I always wanted to try out back in the day, but never got around to picking it up. I’m going on a road trip this weekend, and that is definately making it onto my PSP.

  • Hey at least we have a PsOne game- so that is something-

Seriously, the Wii offers a very extensive and fun range of old games, we need to offer a BUNCH more old games form PS1 and Ps2!!!

  • @grognard66

LOL…well said…Sony is just one excuse after another IF and i stress IF they even give an excuse at all….but you must watch what you say or the morons on this blog will say and i quote “whatever dude….go sell you PS3 and join Maj. Nelson”…LOL

thats the only thing they can say to me cuz i tell it like it is…Sony aint got **** on MS…sad…but true and now Sony’s Jack Tretton says they(sony) are “sacrificing short term challenges for long term goals”

LOL…that tells me…screw you all check back in another year or two….so i’ll say this to everyone…stop trying to defend and protect an ailing system cuz your fighting an unwinnable war…go buy a 360 and be happy…or just wait out your 2 yr waiting period b4 something good comes out for PS3

and you cant use your upcoming 2008 lineup…LOL….Pg.24 in this months Game Informer sits down with Phil Harrison…he would be the President of SCE Worldwide Studios…asked numerous IMPORTANT and RELAVANT questions that everyone wants to know the answers to for example
    READ THIS QUESTION CAREFULLY!!!!

“Looking toward the future, when you look at the game lineups AFTER March 2008 (YES HE ASKED AFTER MARCH 2008), we’re not quite sure what the future holds. Could you give us an idea of what we can expect from Sony in 2008?”

Mr. Harrison goes on to say…”I can give you THREE (yup just 3) to chew on 1.) GT5 2.) LittleBigPlanet (LOL) 3.) Killzone 2

now RE-READ the question…the question asks (((AFTER))) March 2008 and Phil Harrison gives examples of games being released prior to or around March 2008…so after March 2008 dont expect any more games to be released.

when asked about XBL’s video marketplace doing a fair amount of business for XBL Harrison was asked…”How far along is Sony with its plans to offer downloadable films and television?”

Harrisons response “We have no announcements to make on that today” LOL

    NEED I SAY MORE????

  • I dont make this stuff up…its black and white for everyone to read…and no its not Sony hatred…i can just see BS a mile away…and Sony is up to its frickin eyeballs in [DELETED]!!!!

  • Ratchet comes out and Spyro’s on the store? This is Insomniac’s week :D

    Cheers!

  • The video for Bionic Commando was worth while, The crazy angles make me difinatly want to rent it :) Instead of downloading a bunch of crap, I was able to purge all of the old videos and stupid game demos and games i never play. I was able to free up 15GB!!

  • The update isn’t great but holy cow, some of you need to seriously chill. I’m sure you’ll feel better after nap time with a bottle of warm milk.

Loucifer, what’s your point about the Phil Harrison interview? What exclusive titles has MS announced for next year? Like one? Does that mean they don’t have anything planned? No. But whatever it is I guarantee it’s nothing to LBP, GT5, Killzone 2, not to mention MGS4. It’s obvious you’ve got a bone to pick with Sony, so please, don’t pretend you’re not a fanboy.
