Hi, since I’m new to the blog I wanted to first introduce myself. I am the line producer on Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune and I work with Naughty Dog on a day-to-day basis and have been working with the team since Crash Team Racing.
We are pleased to see that there is so much interest out there in the Uncharted demo, and wanted to provide a quick update.
As many of you in Europe and Japan may have already learned, today’s demo is currently only available on the North American PlayStation Store, and will only work on PS3 units in that territory. As you may already know, North America is the first region to launch Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune (Monday, November 19th), and we wanted to be sure that we gave our North American PS3 players the opportunity to try out the demo prior to launch. Other territories are currently putting the finishing touches on the localization aspects of the Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune demo, and will release it in their respective PlayStation Stores in due course.
Unfortunately when attempting to download the demo, our friends in PAL regions or Japan may have encountered a bug in which you are asked to insert a disc. Please ignore this prompt and accept our apologies.
Thanks again for your interest in the game, we hope that those of you who do get a chance to play it get a taste for what we hope will become an action-adventure classic on the PS3.

i think sony are planning to change their stance on region-free gaming to be honest.
maybe the uncharted demo was just a test. anyway i’m off now. i think i will take a look tomorrow to see if sam has made a comment.

As of posting, its been 403 comments. The majority of these aren’t positive comments and to be honest, they should be positive. They should be praising a demo we should be able to play but someone decided it would be a good idea not to test it.
I don’t understand how someone could be so ignorant to ignore the fact quite a few EU users have fake US accounts, purely to get the MUCH BETTER CONTENT earlier. European Uncharted demo 22nd November? F that, I want it now. Call me selfish but you’ve shafted your customers so much its unreal up until now you could at least keep us happy this way.
Get a SINGLE, UNIFIED store going. Release contents in EVERY REGION ON THE SAME DAY. Boo hoo if its extra work, you’re supposed to be providing us with a decent service and you can hardly manage that.
I love my PS3 I really do, but I don’t like your attitude Sony. And Naughty Dog, I’ve been excited for Uncharted for a while, much like all the other people here, but you’ve even managed to ruin that.
Get a patch up ASAP!
The graphics are so good for uncharted, i liked the demo alot, nov 19th cant come soon enough.
Dear Sam, SCEA and the entire Naughty Dog team,
First let me apologise for the enornous amount of whiney and crying on these boards. It is absolutely unwarrented.
Secondly, I am from a PAL region (Australia) and understand the great dissapointment many of the non NA PS3 users felt when the demo did not work.
Our stores are absolutely bareboned (we haven’t even received the ‘Massive Attack Halloween’ Trailer yet) so you can imagine our excitement when hearing we could finally play a small portion of this game.
Rest assured, the total of two people screaming that they will sell their PS3 and the other person that showed little respect for you as a company are not typical of PAL fans (we aren’t a murderous mod).
However, this game is one of the most highly anticipated exclusive Playstation 3 games coming for the system this Christmas. Naughty Dog has a fantastic track record of ALWAYS delivering with their games, so Uncharted is naturally hyping itself (if I were to rate all the Naughty Dog games, none would receive a score less than 8, big fan).
I understand that it is not the responsibility of SCEA or Naughty Dog to ensure that a demo intended for NTSC-U regions plays properly for over regions (even though SCEE leaves us no choice with it’s intorlerablely slow UK/Au store updates), however, thankyou for attempting to fix this issue. As you would know, the PAL demo has been dated for November 22, but, without sounding ungrateful, PAL gamers simpley cannot wait that long.
Many people are now turning to importing and it’s becoming a more viable option (I’ve imported more of my PS3 games, Uncharted will be another) and we would really love to try this game before it comes in the mail. As I said, you have zero obligation to deliver us a fixed US demo, but it would be awesome.
Finally Sam, just a few questions. Because so many people are importing, can you please confirm that ‘US’ copies of Uncharted, will be playable on NON-NTSC-U systems such as PAL UK/AU and NTSC-J systems.
Again to Sam and the entire team at Naughty Dog, I feel I must apologise once again for the disgusting pigs breakfast this board has so quickly descended into. Don’t take it to heart, you all do amazing jobs (espically you Amy, I love how you talk about Uncharted with such care and devotion :) ), make amazing games and are the best in the business. No matter what goes down, you will always have a hugely dedicated fan base in all regions lining up to buy your games, and bringing their friends to buy your games too.

Today after waiting long days to download the demo of uncharted.
I founded that i couldnt play it. Why? cause the funny people from uncharted decide to [DELETED]
everywere but US.I live in South america we dont have a psn store. and cant play a demo.
that i obiusly im going to import the game from the US like everygame i have.
now thanks to this not only not going to buy the game but maybe im thinking in selling my ps3.

Forgot to ask; Will Naughty Dog release a soundtrack of Uncharted?
I loved the music is Firefly and the music in Uncharted is shaping up to be absolutely incredible, it would be a waste to NOT release an OSt somehow in my opinion.
I know it’s too late to bundle anything with the preorders, but if you can get the music out to the fans, that would be fantastic. Perhaps you could consider releasing a patch that adds some kind of ‘Play Soundtrack’ option down the road, or release it as a bonus CD with Uncharted 2 (which is a little down the road, we know you’re working on a PS3 Jak and Daxter now, don’t try to hide it guys) :D

is it just me or does locking the demo seem like a plot to increase hype in the game and see what the reaction was on the forums the only bad thing about that is when stunts like that are normally pulled the game in question is crap lets hope not eh…….

Nicely said. As another PAL user from Australia I was disappointed when I heard that the demo was not going to work. However I understand the issues associated with getting software delivered and was quite happy to wait for the PAL release on the 22nd!
As PS3 users we are not owed anything from Naughty Dog (I know I haven’t paid for anything yet) and yet they still provided a fix for the demo. Kudos to you!
