Hey everybody, I’m back again!
I just wanted to drop everyone a quick note here five days before we launch Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune (a day earlier than expected even!). I also wanted to point out that our first review has posted with IGN, be sure to check it out.
All of the Naughty Dogs couldn’t be more excited to see the game finally hit the shelves. The marketing machine is starting to move into high gear, so hopefully we’ll all start to see Nathan Drake plastered all around town. On the note of the marketing machine, check back with the blog later this week to catch a sneak peek of our TV spot.
The response to the demo that we released last week has been outstanding. I’m really glad everybody’s enjoying it. And I hope I don’t come across as too conceited to say that the complete game is even better! We really tried to design Uncharted as a comprehensive package and it was challenging to select a slice of it that captures the huge variety of gameplay that we have in the game.
In closing, I’d just like to say congratulations and thanks to everybody who had involvement in the creation of Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune. And that includes all of you on the forums who have been giving us encouragement and feedback along the way… believe it or not, we were listening, and many of your comments helped us make Uncharted a better game.

Gamepro’s preview was awesome too… but they said the AI was lacking, which I find a bit odd. I thought the AI was actually, for the 1st time in a videogame, smart. Tough, to be exact. On easy too. So, I wouldn’t take the AI think too serious.

I guess my biggest complaint about the game will probably be no swimming sections, only 1 way thru the game and the fact we have to wait probably 2 years for the next one. That’s going to be a hard walk to take. Oh, well… maybe the next ND game will get us by. Jak&Ratchet anyone?

EGM is gay magazine! I hate 1Up and EGM. On that site only 360 games get 10. Just this year around 5 360 games got 10. Idiots.

I agree with the EGM part… and to a lesser degree 1up, cause they’re till a seperate divison away from EGM. I cannot believ ehow bias some sites are becoming. Kotaku for 1. Brian Ashcroft makes it his nightly routine to do nothing but find bad Ps3 news and Sony news and post it. It’s appauling and he needs to be fired for it.
Gamesblow shouldn’t even be playing games, cause apparently to him, they blow.
Anyway, Naughty Dog rules, and this game is as good as sold. Screw all the negative press on the PS3, it’s all starting to seem worth the grueling first year, hands down.

Don’t forget gamespot as one of the gay game sites as well. It’s not a mater of if Uncharted will get a low score by gamespot, but how low. Gamespot is by far one of the most bias game sites ever. Sometime I wonder why I even go to that site. Maybe it is because of the hay day of the PS2. Gamespot gave a game I thought was going to be good a bad score once (I think it was Devil May Cry 2). I said I’m going to by this game anyway because I want to see it for myself, surely enough the game sucked. I returned it, however this happened on several occasions, in the past. This is why I still go there, however if they keep giving good games by PS3 bad scores then I’m going to stop visiting. This is getting ridiculous. First every thing that happens to Sony that is negative, Gamespot posts new for it. Not that I don’t want to be informed, but all of their news about Sony is negative. Then the poor review of R & C. That game deserves no less than a 8.5. I predict that 7.5 for Uncharted by gamespot when it comes out.

Just played the demo after being forced to by my best friend…first thing i didnt like was the 720p…thats GAY!!!!…i know it was mentioned that Uncharted will support 1080i but how gay is that to have to shut off 720 in order to force the game into 1080 like warhawk…thats RETARDED!!!!
otherwise other then the resolution and lack of mature language…i had a frickin blast…ALOT of fun (reminicent of gears of war)…is it a must buy for me?? maybe…but i have too many games goin on with the competitor like Timeshift which im almost done with then COD4 that i havent even started yet…after that maybe just maybe i may spend some $ on Sony

@215: you know what’s really gay? halo 3 only being 640p to cover up the low polygon count. either that or it shows that the 360 is already being pushed to it’s limit with a peice of crap overhyped game like that. only reason to get a 360 for me is crackdown, oh wait, i can go to my cousin’s house 3 doors down the road from me to play that any time!

Awesome game guys. Looks great. Maybe this will help the PS3 the way Gears of War did for the 360. hmmm….. anyways, even if it doesn’t, it’s still an awesome game. (my mom, who could care less about video games, couldn’t believe how realistic the graphics were in that scene near the end of the trailer with the camera panning around in front of the bulding with the wall missing

You do have some legit points, but you need to work on your presentational style. If you want people on this blog to listen you, don’t bash the PS3’s hardware at every turn.
Uncharted is a FIRST-GEN PS3 GAME!!! Even with that fact, it still looks far better graphically than many new 360 games (like Halo 3) which are late 2nd-gen/early 3rd-gen games. So, it really isn’t fair to compare Uncharted and other current PS3 games with current 360 games. (try comparing current PS3 games to last year’s 360 games and tell me which console is inferior.)
That said, wait until 3rd-gen PS3 games start coming out……….

And I do know people who’ve worked at Burger King for 25+ years. In other words, a career at a place commonly thought of as only a first job. (They make WAY more than you do btw. Think $20-$25/hour) So a career at Gamestop is nothing to be ashamed of. (actually, I think that would be pretty cool)

Personally, I enjoyed the demo thoroughly! I thought 99% of the dialogue was spot-on and funny (I only rolled my eyes at the “So Not Cool” hideous cliché) and the game-play was pretty tight. I personally was floored how amazing the game looked. When I put Drake through the waterfall and he not only looked like he was ACTUALLY wet, as opposed to simply shiny, but he also got wet only on the parts of his clothes that touched water, I was really really impressed!
You guys set the bar at a whole new level! Thank you again for giving us what other devs should have been giving us in the past year: an AAA title.

Wow…i’m just surprised IGN would give a PS3 game a good review!
Of course everyone is going to complain about how long the game is…at this point. Yanno what buy it if you want, rent it even, but please stop trying to judge a game for OTHER GAMERS! You can’t speak for everyones tastes! If you had a game that was TOO long, would it be a problem? The fact that the story dragged on too long? God…go back to last gen or something cuz I’m getting sick of ALL fanboys.
Congrats on finally releasing the game, Naughty Dog! I loved the demo and can’t wait to dig into the full story and immerse myself in this lovely piece of gaming art. It may sound like pointless ass-kissery, but the demo made me nerdgasm all over my couch.

Oh! and as far as reviewers go…whats with the stupid decimals? I mean is a 9.1 vs a 9.2 going to make a game anymore better?!? Just round it to the closest whole number!!! 1=crap 5=Average 10=Amazing and in between, there are some reviewers that used to do just whole numbers I think it mightve been Gamepro? But man…IGN giving games those decimals…argh! i say!

Well deserved
I have been waiting for this game for a very long time, and now that it is here, its amazing. I have always expected great games from Naughty Dog and you guys have delivered another epic to be enjoined for ages.
The high marks are unsurprising, but nice to see, anyway. The demo was gorgeous, and the combat system was a hell of a lot of fun. Day one purchase, for me.

I’m really looking forward to this game; I think it’ll have a fair amount of replay value too, as the enemy AI is pretty good and there is a ton of unlockable content, skill points, and extra hidden items in the game. BTW, the IGN review does not seem to be pointing the “doom” of anything; right at the begining the reviewer states the game is so good it puts any previous doubts aside, and is a good reason to own a PS3.

Does anybody here know anything about the wireless sixaxis controller dropping connectiong from the PS3? (example. Lets say I’m walking in warhawk in a direction and decides to stop. It would continue moving foward)
My controller has a good ammount of charge. I’d say 2 bars. It’s not something that happenes offented but it happened twice over the weekend and earlier this morning when I had a 2 bar charge.
Congrats on the good reviews coming in. I know this title is a day one purchase for me. I just hope every other PS3 owner will feel the same. R&CFToD isn’t fairing too well right now, sales wise, and that’s a crime.;_;

Just curious do you really think that certain games are “just not possible” because of the bluray and cell? I’m just wondering cuz thats what some people claim…I mean…if we had the exclusive to Assassins Creed…would the game have been BETTER or worst? thanks to the bluray and cell
Of course some games just aren’t possible without Blu-ray… Graphically? I don’t believe so. I think Lair oculdn’t have been done on the 360 without the cell and blu-ray, for sure. It had graphics and incredible texture work and massive ammoounts of on scren action. I love Lair, by the way… so go buy it! It’s amazing if you give it a go.
Gameinformer just gave it a 8.75 What a piece a’ joke! American publications will do anything to not give Sony a break. They talked and talked about how awesome the game and graphics were, only to give is an 8.75 and say it wasn’t innovative and wasn’t going to be a classic. GEARS OF WAR WASN’T INNOVATVE, yet they give it 10’s. This is making me sick. I mean really sick.

Amazing work Naughty Dog! Lots to be proud of with this new game. I haven’t even finished the first Uncharted yet and I’m already craving a sequel.

The only downside many people seem to have is the shortness of the game, I’ll be replaying it twice most likely but maybe have the next game be at least twice as long?
Many people don’t like spending 60 bucks for ~8 hours of gameplay and some of those people won’t replay it. I however can’t wait.
Well done ND on creating such a fantastic game. Hats off to you guys for making such a great title. It really shows how much love and effort you guys put in. I had the privalige to play some old code a few weeks back and I was blown away by it. Having now played the demo I’m even more impressed. Played it various times now, once even just to admire how amazing the graphics are and all the touchs. The game just about nails everything. I’m so pleased this games turned out so well. This is the icing on the cake for a great year to start off with for the PS3 and I can’t wait to see what’s up everyone’s sleeves next year.
PS. If you do another Jak & Daxter, please go back to its roots and create and old school 3D platformer. Leave the guns to Ratchet ;).
