Hey everybody, I’m back again!
I just wanted to drop everyone a quick note here five days before we launch Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune (a day earlier than expected even!). I also wanted to point out that our first review has posted with IGN, be sure to check it out.
All of the Naughty Dogs couldn’t be more excited to see the game finally hit the shelves. The marketing machine is starting to move into high gear, so hopefully we’ll all start to see Nathan Drake plastered all around town. On the note of the marketing machine, check back with the blog later this week to catch a sneak peek of our TV spot.
The response to the demo that we released last week has been outstanding. I’m really glad everybody’s enjoying it. And I hope I don’t come across as too conceited to say that the complete game is even better! We really tried to design Uncharted as a comprehensive package and it was challenging to select a slice of it that captures the huge variety of gameplay that we have in the game.
In closing, I’d just like to say congratulations and thanks to everybody who had involvement in the creation of Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune. And that includes all of you on the forums who have been giving us encouragement and feedback along the way… believe it or not, we were listening, and many of your comments helped us make Uncharted a better game.
Well, it’s offically offical… Uncharted will be an 8.5 overall % now. 1up just gave them a 8.5 too. Every ps3 exclusive is basically average. That’s nice. We paid 600 bucks for average gaming experiences we got on the ps1 and ps2…. Strange.
Cry moar, gamesblow. Eurogamer gave Uncharted a 9, and they’re the harshest reviewers out there (they gave Resistance a 6, btw).
I would also like to point out that 8.5-9 is not average whatsoever. An average game would rate a 5/10.
Yeah I agree with you on that gamesblow, Lair was definitly a good rental for me. But wasnt mind blowing, anyway. I guess for games like R&C, HS, and Uncharted…those games not possible without what the PS3 has to offer? I think Naughty Dog is just a great developer honestly no matter what system they were developing for.
PS3 is just gonna be the system that everyone will put down no matter what. Its not even about gamers anymore, its all about the money and politics of course! everything revolves around the green and the politics! well…everyone blames politics so i figure i throw that in there :-P
Gamespy and Gametap also gave the game both 9s.

Did gamesblow ever think that maybe a certain company helped encourage (aka bribe) reviewers for such highscores?
I can tell you right now, Halo 3 is no where near a 10….and neither is Bioshock for that matter. Both awesome game experiences, but not 10’s.
I just wanted to say that this guy ‘gamesblow’ needs to be banned. It seems he spams every single post with unrelated, pointless, troll comments. I remember reading a post saying Sony would start censoring the blog a little bit so that the comments section wouldn’t veer so off-topic — maybe it’s time to start doing that? I think on this blog gamesblow just trolls for no reason. He doesn’t even believe half the stuff he says. I went to his site and most of the stuff is for the PS3 and a couple of times even says “buy the ps3, it’s the best console out there” while here he says xbox360 is way better, etc.. He’s just pissing people off on purpose to get attention.. he KNOWS this game is great, too.. Go naughty dog
ummm not to take sides or anything but…I’m pretty sure gamesblow was being relative to this post well not the first post he posted but the one following was about reviewing.
I’m all for Sony being dominant again but whats even the point of rooting for one console? It seems like the real winners are the ones that own all 3 consoles or the ones happy with what they got. I might purchase a 360 in the future but i still love my ps3. Naughty dog is probably the #1 company with Sony that I love to death! But I can’t just deny a game like Mass Effect…thats just being stupid.

screen tearing = no sale.
As much as I enjoyed the demo I just cant stand screen tearing. Sorry. That said you deserve props for a killer engine which will no doubt become even more amazing with time. From the demo I think the game is going to do really well.
So, please for the love of god enable v-sync/optimise the framerate next time so I can enjoy your games. Nothing like screen-tearing to ruin the feeling of polish. From the sounds of it your engine has ways to go yet so i’m hoping you can up the ante without sacrificing performance in the future.

Can’t wait for this title. Couldn’t have been done like this on any other system on the market and trust me, I have a 360 and its a fine system.
Anyone who refuses to play a game because it has a bit of screen tearing doesn’t deserve to play games.
Sidenote to Gamesblow:
You may want to visit Gamespot (a site that some may have heard of) and read the reviews for both CoD4 and Assassin’s Creed. They specifically state “zero” difference between CoD4 on either system and state that Assassin’s Creed runs slightly “faster” on the PS3.
Please do your research in the future and consider becoming “famous” in another realm where people will give you more attention.
Additional note:
I recommend a few minor grammar and spelling classes just to further raise your online “fame”.

Gamesradar gave it an 8… So basically sony’s big AAA game this year is nothing more than average. they site a huge ammount of flaws and then say it’s still fun. So, basically the ps3 is home of a slew of average games for a premium price. Thanks Sony… Love the blu-ray player, though.

In the interim, may I recommend you review what an “8” stands for when it comes to game reviews? That’s right, “Great” is the word defined by those sites and not average.
So, if you’re getting an 8 from Gamesradar, a 9.1 from IGN and an 8.5 from 1UP, you’re sitting pretty.
However, please continue posting on this Sony blog, as it’s the best place to try to get your message across. Whatever that message may be.

@267: You know, it’s a blessing we get to [DELETED] about screen tearing on the PS3 for once. On the other side of the fence it’s expected in every game as they’re all treated like PC games: vsync off = framerate up.
The message is, that this game is viewed at as little more than better than Stranglehold and or Kane and Lynch. That the game, which was AAA status just last week… is now just average. Average like Heavenly sword, Lair and motor storm. Average like all the ps3 big games are. GOW, MASS EFFECT, HALO 3, BIO SHOCK… it’s been a rough year for Sony. Maybe now would be a good time to start thinking about pumping some money into getting some exclusives, huh? Just a thought.

From what I’ve played, Uncharted is a AAA title and an absolutely amazing game that Im looking forward to. Why the hell do you care if 1 review site didn’t like it? That’s someone’s opinion! Why don’t you play the game, and then give it a review of your own instead being a mindless fanboy and comparing it to other consoles. Gamesblow, this will be my final reply to correct your mis-information as this thread is dedicated to Uncharted and not your ranting or my corrections.
Stranglehold received a 77% percent on Metacritic (an average of 57 reviews).
Kane & Lynch is at a 68% average based on 6 reviews)
Uncharted, however, is at 85% based on just three reviews. Allow the average to appear and you’ll find it staying at a score defined as, once again, “great”.
The ‘other’ system is a good product. No one is denying that. However, the PS3 is a great product as well. Based on a single year on the market, it offers much more than its competitor did in that timeframe.
Your comments are doing nothing constructive. I recommend you pack up and take the show on the road or simply show us how the ‘other’ system has mor AAA exclusive titles in queue for 2008.
Gamepro says it’s a 4 and faults it’s lack of innovation and cliche story. Lovely, that’s what I was hoping was good about it. So, this game got the same score as Kane and lynch and didn’t best Assassins Creed, which is terrible on the Ps3. The game I waited for 2 years for. Bought a 600 dollar ps3 for… and you don’t think I have the right to be a little let down? Just a tad? Wasted…
With this game being just average now I don’t know if I’m wanting to buy it. I might just rent it now… man this sucks. I really wanted to have 1 game from Sony this year that just couldn’t be topped… Uncharted had all of my hopes riding on it. I litteraly bought my Ps3 for this game. I dunno… all B.S. aside, I really am let down now. Sure 8’s are alright scores… but in a sea of 9’s on the other platforms… We sure needed one game to have a 90% on the Ps3. BTW please stop validating certain people on this blog. Everyone is entitled to an opinion. Some are right, some are wrong; some do it just for attention. Some people are sad, but if you keep replying to them, you are validating them. Just ignore them, and they will eventually get bored.
You people just don’t understand… I guess cause you only have 1 system. I dunno..?? I bought the Ps3 for this game. I waited for it for 2 years… That is asking alot from any consumer to buy a 600 dollar system. I did. I am entitled to be let down, folks. This was the game I wanted more than anything this year and it turns out it’s not even as good as RE4 for the wii…??? Or Assassins Creed. The technical limitations of the Ps3 are already showing and that upsets me. It upsets me cause I have spent thousands on the ps3 and games for it. not to mention blu-ray. You people are without gorund to stand on here.
So, with this game being average… and Heavenly Sword being average and only selling 200,000 units. I guess we won’t be seeing follow ups to these games. That’s a shame. Maybe Sony will actually let og of some money for better production values??? Just a thought. Sony can squeeze a quarter so tight the eagle would scream. Well, J&D games sell well… I’m sure we’ll get plenty more of those, right?
Did you play the demo? Because you haven’t given a reason as to why you dislike it other than what a gamesite tells you about it. Oh I forgot, it has a cliche story. If you think some tearing in the polygons and a cliches story is something to hate a game for then you clearly set it up to fail anyway. Gears of War had an amazing story? Ha ok then. You think Halo has a great story? They completely abandoned the Arbiters story just so you could play the stiff guy who has no character at all. Just a run and gunner is all that game is basically. Assassin’s Creed is practically identical to the 360 version as well. Go read Kotaku. Better yet please sell your PS3 and whatever gaming console you have because you clearly don’t get it.
I on the other hand will be buying this gem on day one. Amazing GAMEPLAY, graphics and I’m willing to bet the story is good too. Even if it’s “cliched”.

Those reviews are all great. They’re saying that is the the most fun in a game they’ve had all year. Seriously, go cry more at how pathetic you really sound while the rest of us enjoy Uncharted.
Might wan’t to check out Metacritic as well. It has an 89 only due to the 1up and EGM reviews which are basically the same review.
Game reviews suck its always down to the person playing the game if say i was to review everyday shooter i would give it a 3/10 because i dont like that type of game “no offence to the single dude who made it” but that dont mean its CRAP anyone who goes by reviews ONLY is not a gamer they are just GLORY HUNTERS

Well, as much as you all are praising this game… I look for it to sell millions. The thing is, half you people chming in will be too cheap to buy it new and will probably rent it and or buy it used… Or off of amazon, so the sales won’t matter. If you’re so proud of this game do something about it. Buy it… spread the gosple around about it too. Make sure everyone knows how good it is, inspite of average reviews. Maybe Naughtydog should’ve took more chances with it. Ya think? Maybe they should’ve made more puzzle elements. Some swiming sections. Some more diversity in it. Maybe the game really isn’t above an 8. Who’s to blame for this being just an average game?

Again, I love Naughtydog and have bought every single game they’ve ever done. ALL OF THEM!! Even Way of the Warrior for 3do. “which is better than mk2” I’m a huge fan of them, but I feel that this game is average because of the hardware and lack of true ambition for the game. I see this as a testing ground and nothing more. Uncharted failed to impress, Heavenly Sword failed to impress, Lair failed to impress, Motorstorm failed to impress… see a trend here? Ps3 is failing to impress. Killzone 2 is going to be the biggest bomb of all time.
